So long as it doesn't turn into a "parental gross-out" thread it's okay. I can't even read that one! LOL

Lonelymum · 15/08/2005 19:45

Well I read one or two posts and then stopped! I don't find cleaning pooey pants too disgusting though (just as well at the moment!) Remind me Purpleturtle, how old your ds is? He seems to be doing well.

purpleturtle · 16/08/2005 09:22

Ds was 2 in January, so 2.7 now (I think?!), and this morning I have come dashing downstairs because he was shouting 'I done a poo!', and I knew he was running round bare-bummed having taken his overnight nappy off when he got up. So paranoid mum here arrives in the front room going 'Where is it?' expecting to be able to join the parental gross-out thread, and he goes 'In the potty! Ha ha ha ha haa ha!'and doing a little happy dance.

I am so proud.

Do you think it was because he wasn't wearing any pants to catch it?

Lonelymum · 16/08/2005 09:43

Who knows?? My ds3 happily poos in his pants every day - doesn't seem bothered by it at all.

Well done your ds. You must really feel you are getting somewhere now. I am still on about the second rung of the ladder, I feel.

Well I think we've cracked this potty training lark!

Today ds has done 2 poos in potty (inc one at friend's house), and 1 which started in his pants and finished on the potty. My boy is full of poo !

So now, we just have to move house at the end of the week, live with relatives for 3 weeks, then move to Australia. Recipe for relapse, do you think?

Lonelymum · 16/08/2005 17:55

Lucky you PT

I don't feel I have cracked it at all. I do feel that I am cracking, but that is not the same thing is it?

Today, one wee in potty, three wees in pants, no poo at all.

I am getting very demoralised. I definitely wouldn't be doing this if ds3 didn't have to be dry in Sept.

bensmum3 · 16/08/2005 20:45

Can anyone join in ? I've been lurking only since my shocking statement about ds doing a poo in a rock pool, but today he's done 2 wee's and a poo, one he asked to do whilst we were out, and the poo + the other wee he did in the toilet, I'm still undecided about whether to go for it properly, but this must be a good sign mustn't it ? or is it just chance ?

Lonelymum · 16/08/2005 20:47

Bensmum, been meaning to say to you since you posted about the poo in the rock pool, don't worry about the response you got from others. I understood. Every year, one of my kids does a poo at some time on the beach in our holiday. Last year it was ds1 (then 8) and the poo was massive. I buried it under the sand but as the tide swept in, I did avoid jumping the waves as I would normally do!

And yes, do join in here. I could do with some moral support and Cod did ask for lurkers to report in.

muminlondon · 17/08/2005 12:25

DD did a poo in a cafe toilet yesterday afternoon! I've got a portable folding cushioned seat (I think it's called a 'cushie tushie traveler'!) which is much more convenient than carrying a potty. She still shows no initiative without me asking her to go, but yesterday only had one accident at home and I ventured a trip out successfully in the afternoon with her in knickers and trousers.

I won't get to spend the day with her now till the weekend, as she's with the childminder or DH, so don't know if she'll keep this up - she is more prone to tantrums at the moment and the childminder has a slightly different style from me.

robinia · 17/08/2005 12:32

Can't let poos in rockpool pass I'm afraid - why can't you just pick it up in a nappybag and take it to a more suitable place?

purpleturtle · 17/08/2005 12:57

Is that what wild animals are meant to do too?

Lonelymum · 17/08/2005 15:20

I don't know where Bensmum was when her ds did a poo in the rockpool, but where I go (Cornwall) the tide sweeps in regularly twice a day and must take all sorts of crud with it as the beach is teeming with children. I am not syaing I would happily allow my children to poo wherever, but I do think the odd poo swept out to sea is not going to harm (much).

robinia · 17/08/2005 16:48

Not many wild animals (apart from birds) on the beaches I've been to. Just don't see why other people should be potentially subjected to it when it's easy to dispose of it more hygienically.

Lonelymum · 17/08/2005 17:00

Well, in my defence, I didn't have anything to hand to use to dispose of my son's poo except a spade which I used to good effect.

I can see where you are coming from though I suppose. It is amazing how offensive dog poo left lying around is these days, isn't it, given that when I was growing up, it was everywhere and the culture wasn't for poo bins and owners cleaning up after their dogs.

yes lonely mum.... boats empty their holdiang atnks every day.... and lots of boats / yachts esp in this country dont even have them]

hence everything u do in loo goes straight into the sea!

(BTW im thoroughly enjoying reading your potty training diaries....seems like your all making progress!)

Lonelymum · 17/08/2005 18:45

Not me today NannyL. Ds3 has only done one wee in the potty today! He pooed his pants as usual. He has fought not to have pants on and has gone around bare bottomed presumably weeing all over the garden. I am the failure of this group.

NannyL · 17/08/2005 18:51

doesnt sound liek you are a failure

sounds like you are trying hard.... and are having (some) sucess

sure in a week or so he will be much better... Keep trying!

Good luck!

nutcracker · 17/08/2005 19:23

Ds is doing great, no accidents for days and days and no counselling needed before poos now, also dry pull ups every morning.

He is still going alot though so i'm not sure how we'll get on when the kids are back at school, cos knowing him he'll want to go half way there.

Oh dear, seems like I've upset people again, in my defence, it was a very isolated place,I knew no one else would visit the beach that day and we went to somewhere where I knew the sea would wash it away, maybe if I promise to put it in my rucksack next time, we could leave it there, or take it home as the case may be
Today ds has done 2 wees and 1 poo in the toilet, and 3 wees and 1 pooh in his pants, sounds like your doing better than me lonelymum.

He does, but then he just wees anywhere.

After dinner tonight he went into the sandpit and the paddling pool, mixed up the two, and ended up with very wet and sandy pants: the way things will be from Friday onwards I suppose.
