New mum needs a bit of help

Hi there,
I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl 9 days ago, I ended up having an emergenct C-section and staying in hospital for 4 days so we just got home last Tuesday.
I started feeling a little down, as I know is normal with the baby blues, but it seems to be sticking around longer than I thought.
I'm still feeling really teary and I don't feel that I'm bonding properly with my baby.
She likes being held, as all new babies do, but she cries a lot when we try to put her in her moses basket, I've tried everything from swaddling to warming the moses basket, but it's quite unpredictable, sometimes she goes down ok, others she doesn't.
The thing is that I've started to dread the evenings, last night it took 4 hours to settle her and when I look at her I love her, but I just feel so anxious. I cry about almost everything and I suppose I just need a bit of reassurance that everything is normal.

I feel the same, I have a 2 week old gorgeous baby girl but have started feeling anxious in the evening when it comes to settling her down for a few hours.

Glad to hear its just a phase and that the original poster (and all the other mummies who have posted their stories) is was well and happy soon after posting, it gives me a lot of hope!

Hi BoftheP
I just saw the thread pop up when I was looking through mumsnet, I read back to my original post and can't believe how much things have changed since then.
I remember how bad I felt, exactly like you I was anxious, but it turned from part of the day to the whole time, if things do get worse then don't hesitate to speak to your HV, it's totally normal and i was surprised at how quick I returned to normal, weather it was because I got help or it just went naturally I couldn't be 100%, but I do know that if it wasn't for all the help and advice I got from the other mums on here I would've cracked up (I've just filled up with tears writing this!)I don't think they will ever realise what they did for me, but it was an unbelieveable support when I needed it.
Happy to say things are fantastic now, I have a beautiful, bubbly 9 month old who I am absolutely besotted with, her dad and I are getting married in December and we've just moved into our new family home.
I'm sure this phase will pass quickly for you, in a few weeks you'll be sorted and able to relax a bit more I'm sure xx
