hi ladies, very impressed by all these wraps/wool making....

soon2befamilyof4 · 02/03/2009 11:37

Getting on really well with my new washable wipes, just thought I would let you know. I haven't used 1 disposable since!

DO you think it is best to keep one set for hands and face and another for bums? Or do you think that as long as they have been washed it will be ok to mix them?

swampster · 02/03/2009 11:41

I think most people use the same wipes for all purposes.

I use my wipes for hands and bums, they are usually washed @ 60 degrees so i cant see the harm I used to do fancy mixes, but now i just use plain water

Its so sunny here today it is lovely, i just glanced out of the window at my ittis on the line and the glare from the white inserts was lovely so there shouldn't be any stains today!

I dont suppose anyone has any size 1 flexitots they are selling?

soon2befamilyof4 · 02/03/2009 11:46

Thanks, they will be washed at 60 a lot of the time anyway so will kill all the bugs. That makes life easier anyway.

TMI Alert

Hi people....

Having a rather awful week.

On Wednesday while in Cornwall, DD had a rather awful bout of vomiting which we thought may have been food poisoning. She got better, but then on Saturday, put DS to bed and about an hour later, heard a blood curdling cry, so shot upstairs and he was choking on his vomit

DP called an ambulance (longest 5 minutes of my life) and we were taken to Children's where he was admitted.

Got back and now my mom, has the bug and cannot travel back home to California. She doesn't know when she can travel back. DP also has it and just like a man, is in bed

So, apologies to people who I owe nappies to. They have now been sent...

And the BBH, as they noticed at Children's, is brilliant at containment

soon2befamilyof4 · 02/03/2009 12:59

Oh no, so sorry to hear that. How is your DS now? Hope he is ok?

I am sure everybody will understand about the late nappies

swampster · 02/03/2009 14:38

That sounds grim, Ilove (((((unmumsnetty huuugs)))))

drlove8 · 02/03/2009 15:08

ilovemydog OMG! is your ds alright? how frightning for all of you.poor wee man!-healing vibes to ilovemydog's house and all in it! --

afterglow · 02/03/2009 16:40

I hope the IlovemydogandmrO family are all better soon. Your poor little DS.

4, someone on cnt has size1 flexitots up for sale.

I use different wipes for bum and face . Technically I know it shouldn't make any difference.

cyteen · 02/03/2009 16:47

oh ILMD, how horrible best wishes for a speedy recovery in your house.

every time i see cnt on here i do a double take.

speaking of containment, ever since i started DS on solids i have fallen in love with the Airflow all over again...they should get me to write a disgusting testimonial

DP has just taken over baby duty, so I am madly knitting while I get a break! Really wanted to finish my longies tonight (got more yarn today), but not sure I'll manage it. Perhaps I'll finish the knitting and do the sewing tomorrow, then I can start lanolising them!

Hopefully · 02/03/2009 18:38

Ilovemydog poor you and your family! Hope everyone's recovered soon.

Not sure about wipes - I use reusables for bottom, but disposables when out and about, and a sponge for face at home. Although am determined to switch to reusables when out - might get some wipes to match my hypothetical minki bag!

ilovemydogandMrObama · 02/03/2009 20:04

DS is out of Children's Hospital. It was so sad to see him trying to crawl in his crib with the splint on his hand to protect the drip on his hand. He looked like a seal .

We are using disposable wipes for the moment....

Am using a great new detergent -- Simply Pure Eco Smart which seems to work well at low temperatures, and no stains on anything despite clothes and nappies, um, being challenged

mumoftoby · 02/03/2009 21:08

ilmd sloppy kisses from my DS1 and DS2 to your DS. poor thing.

Hopefully · 03/03/2009 09:46

Curses - the amazing non-sleeping baby is making finishing his longies very difficult! I've only got 40 rows to go, and then I can stitch the seams and they'll be done. I'm praying he actually deigns to have a lunchtime nap today!

Ilovemydog glad your seal DS is a bit better and out of hosp.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 03/03/2009 10:29

ilmd - sorry to hear about your ds/dm... hope you're all better...

hopefully, are you starting a longies business? cooking, baking, knittin, all with a non-sleeping baby...

drlove8 · 03/03/2009 11:17

HELP! - disaster- left my nappies wet pailing and one of the toddlers has put a added extra( pair of pants belonging to ds4) into my nappy bucket- has left pink/red dye marks on some of my nappies! aaargh - what do i do to get rid of the dye???? i know you cant bleach as it will ruin the nappies!

4andnotout · 03/03/2009 11:22

Rinse with cold water to see if it will was off, hot water will set the stain. Ask in the housekeeping section they are fountains of knowledge, i got rid of all the limescale in my toilet using vinegar after 1 of their tips.

4andnotout · 03/03/2009 11:23

Oh and for you, i would be gutted if any of my napies got ruined (tragic or what!)

drlove8 · 03/03/2009 11:25

ive tried rinsing them in cold water 4andnot out, think i'll pop over to housekeeping then. thanx x

ilovemydogandMrObama · 03/03/2009 11:58

Did anyone else get a Modern Baby Pop in this morning?

I applied for one ages ago, and it suddenly arrived!

OP posts:
rusmum · 03/03/2009 12:01

applied where???

Hopefully · 03/03/2009 13:10

Drlove sometimes just lots of soaking without letting them get dry can get rid of stains on clothing, and then putting them out in the sun for a good while afterwards.
I reckon I would cope with nappy stainage, unless it was the ittis!

Sunflower it's tragic - the worse he sleeps, the more domestic I become. Do you think I might be compensating?!
I'm going to see how this pair of longies go before I start my empire...
Also looking forward to knitting some baby legwarmers, it'll be interesting to see whether they look awful, or as good as babylegs.
And now want to knit a blanket as well. I'll just squeeze that project in between the bread I need to bake today and the stew I'm putting in for dinner later on

swampster · 03/03/2009 13:11

I haven't got mine, hope I do though. Glad you've got one, I was beginning to think it was an elaborate ploy to get the details of nappy addicts without delivering the goods. (There was a thread on CNA to that effect a while ago).
