Swapster - which would you say are the slimmist fitting out of the BG, itti and greenkids? Is it the BG pockets you have yes? I have 3 bumgenious but thinking about investing in more but might wait till I actually have the newborn to try it out on. Would love to be able to use the same nappy on both children without needing to have different sizes when we go out.

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 11/03/2009 21:12

soon2be,,, i would say out of the three ittis probably but not much in it - gk have more room than a bg for extra stuffing. ittis are more low rise . Hope that helps

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 21:24

I think I might try an itti out after everybody on here raving about them. And possibly a GK as well depending on the amount of stuff I sell on ebay!

Does anybody know how much I am looking at for any of these? I would prefer preloved if avaliable?

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 21:29

Oh - the ittis arn't onsize are they? Balls! I was just about convinced then!

Maybe I will have to try out some GKs then instead

swampster · 11/03/2009 21:35

I think Ittis are definitely slimmest, but I trust BGs more. I think BGs are more idiot husband/partner-proof than Greenkids because of the way they popper to shorten the rise. Though Greenkids aren't exactly rocket-science... And apparently make good swim nappies without an insert!

I prefer the fabric of the GK Anytimes to BGs and I love the Minkytimes cause I am a sucker for a furry bum. GK are a nappy you can love - I don't think BGs are really. And of course, Ittis are simply adorable. While BBOS are just plain lush...

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 11/03/2009 21:38

lol - loving furry bums - i keep my furry ones for my days off and send my gk anytimes and bumgenius to nursery on my work days.

4andnotout · 11/03/2009 21:41

I use BBOS in the change bag, itti's at home and if im local, flexitots and blueberry wrap for long periods when out and about.

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 21:46

What are BBOS?

nappyzonehasastroppytoddler · 11/03/2009 21:49

blueberry onesize

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 21:51

Oh I don't know what to do now!! I want something that will have a good fit on DD1 and DD2 at the same time (newborn and young toddler).

At the moment it is between BG and GK.

I have BG at the moment. I like them and so does DH but I don't LOVE them.

I guess BG will be cheaper?

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 21:52

Oh right. What are BBOS like on a newborn? Just to add more confusion to the equation!

swampster · 11/03/2009 21:57

BBOS are gorgeous on a newborn but the insert they come with is a bit big so I use one of the BG ones (it feels like Groundhog Day for me, I've just been wittering on about this on another thread). But you need loads of nappies, soon, you can try a couple of each! BGs would be cheapest but you will never love them.

Hopefully · 11/03/2009 22:07

Rusmum are you on ravelry? There's probably loads of patterns on there. I'm away at the moment, but if you post again tomorrow or friday reminding me, I'll have a look for some patterns on there.
There are plenty of online places that sell lanolin, bot sure how prices compare to lansinoh - I'm still using up my leftover from early days of BFing! Need to lonolise again on friday - have only had time to do my longies once. I'm contemplating knitting these rather gorgeous ones next, once I've had a bit more knitting practise. Think I might attempt another scarf or some socks before I try it though!

DS has randomly starting leaking through him bumhuggers incredibly quickly - the only thing that's surviving the night now is the WNNN, and I only have one, so he's basically leaking through every other night. I may have to splash out and actually buy a new one. So tomorrow will be spent buying a new itti and a new WNNN - I've been promising myself I'd order them for days!

Hopefully · 11/03/2009 22:08

Oh, and you need at least 80% real wool (animal fibre). Bluefaced leicester is meant to be best, but I just used ordinary Rowan wool (and I used DK, not aran weight, aran is best but the easiest pattern I could find was DK weight)

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 22:12

We already have loads of nappies . Boxes and boxes of the things!!! LOL.

Just looked at the prices of BBOS on ebay!! I think they will be out of the question! Unless we win the lottery! £20 per nappy?? Or can you get them cheaper preloved?

4andnotout · 11/03/2009 22:13

I usually pay around £10 preloved, the most was £12.50 but that had only been prewashed so was nearly new.

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 22:32

Is that for a BBOS 4? That is not so bad.

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 22:34

4 - do you get the inserts for that price too? If not, can I use any old insert?

afterglow · 11/03/2009 22:54

tree, I use Thirsties wraps and really like them. To the point that I don't have any MotherEase ones I find that the elastic is gentler than the ME ones, though they do still leave slight marks. Also the hot pink ones are gorgeous.

soon2befamilyof4 · 11/03/2009 23:11

I just bought a pink BBOS. It is pull outer so not as nice as the soft ones but will be good for me to try and I got it cheap. The BBOS appeal to me more than the itti I think, but I like onesize nappies!

Anybody selling any cheap hemp or bamboo inserts? Don't want to spend much as I don't really need them that much but they would come in handy because the inserts take so much longer than the pockets to dry!

4andnotout · 12/03/2009 08:14

soon usually i try to get them with inserts for £10, but if not babykind do the inserts and have some in the bargain section for £3 each.
