Help! Tried the wool wrap last night and there was defiite dampness this morning - it was a woollwraps which I've lanolised once. We put it over a Baby Beehinds with a loose long vest and babygro over the top. The vest, 'gro and sleeping bag were all quite damp this morning, and have just dried now so don't think it was just evaporation. Do I need to lanolise more before we can use it?!

lollipopmother · 07/02/2009 15:38

I'm pretty sure I've seen that people lanolise three times before doing a full night but I may be wrong.

AnnVan · 07/02/2009 16:28

I'm not sure - my wol stacinator came prelanolised for me.

Yes, I think you need to lanolise new wool several times before you can safely use it overnight. One reason I think it's nice to buy preloved wool, as means it's ready to use and been tried & tested! lol

Re: Baby Beehinds for sale (when will the topic ever end?! LOL ) I think I saw some on Cloth Tots last night - person had 6 or more for sale (if I remember correctly) for somewhere around 6 quid each - all different colours.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 07/02/2009 18:36

rusmum i would gladly purchase some of those of your aunt! i am a knitter but that pattern is a little too complicated for me.
i would say about a fiver each maybe? plus postage. but i dont see why she couldnt sell these on ebay, they look great!

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 07/02/2009 18:53

Hi All

I've not been on for a while but just thought I oulwd let you know that if you go to the fillyourpants website and register for their newsletter they are giving £5 off and order over £15 - I just got a Itti Bitti D'lish and set of boosters for £16.50.

Can anyone tell me the difference between a bumle and a bimble?

davidbowiescodpiece · 07/02/2009 18:58

Hello! I am a regular in my new disguie I just wanted to ask for opinions on Fuzzi Bunz. We use tots bots with motherease wraps atm for ds who is 8 months and are very happy, but they are bulky and the nippas are getting to be a faff when ds just won't stay still for a nappy change . My friend has offered me some Fuzzi Bunz as her dd has outgrown them. Are they good? I had a quick look at one and it seemed very different to what I am used to. Would I be able to stuff it with a tots bots? I know that wouldn't really solve the bulkiness issue but it would definately make doing them up easier!

mumoftoby · 07/02/2009 19:26

Hello everyone! Is is ok if I join in? I think I am possibly now a confirmed real nappy addict. I just hope my DH doesn't change the password to his paypal account. Congratulations on the arrival of your newbie swampster.

4andnotout · 07/02/2009 19:31

Hi mumoftoby, it is a lovely if expensive addiction to have

mumoftoby · 07/02/2009 19:42

Tell me about it - I'm facing the prospect of spending the full evening listing DS2's outgrown clothes on e-bay to fund it! Its good fun ordering though...

NappyObsessed · 07/02/2009 19:51

Hi Everyone - can I join too please? I have been skulking and lurking for some time and thought it was about time I joined a "support thread" for my obsession! I too spend too much on nappies

ilovemydogandMrObama · 07/02/2009 20:02

I just don't get that it's expensive this real nappy habit! I really don't.

Aside from a few BBHs I've bought in the last week, both DD and DS were in the same Sandy's Extra Small. I sold these for about a third of what I paid for them keeping in mind the £30.00 voucher from the Council.

DD is now in Sandy's Large, but is being potty trained, so hopefully will not have to buy Toddler size nappies. DS is in a range of Flexitots, Bum Genius and Lollipop Bamboo (from a trial!)

Oh, and was at Tescos last week and this woman had 2 kids the same age as DD and DS and she said she spent at least £20.00 a week on disposable nappies

Having said all that, I think the problem is that we get obsessive about finding the perfect nappy, and along with Mr. Right, it just doesn't exist!

mumoftoby · 07/02/2009 20:10

You are right ilovemydog it could be cheap it is the fact that I am compulsively buying more and more that is the actual problem. I was given 3 wonderoos totally free by a wonderful mumsnetter and got lots of tots in tkmaxx so it should have been cheap!

cyteen · 07/02/2009 20:12

davidbowiescodpiece () I have 3 Fuzzi Bunz and I really like them, they're dead easy to use and dry pretty quickly. Not sure on the stuffing issue re. Tots Bots but I would say that if your DS is a heavy wetter you probably will want to stuff them with something - my DS is a veritable fountain of wee and they have on occasion leaked when he's been in one for a while. So not a good night nappy but so easy to use and very cute too

NappyObsessed · 07/02/2009 20:13

my excuse is that I've just had my first baby and i'm searching for what suits when I have my next baby I will just re-use them saving lots of money and avoiding having to buy disposables

Can I ask a question about Sandy's? DD is 13lb and the small size already seems a little tight although the large is supposed to be from 20lb. Did you find them snug fitting too? Do you think I could put her in a large now?

cyteen · 07/02/2009 20:19

Funny that, NappyObsessed, that's exactly my excuse reason for buying so many different nappies

NappyObsessed · 07/02/2009 20:26

I think its an excuse that may be wearing a little thin for DH! But think of all the money we are not spending on disposables - I must have saved a fortune

thebluefoxategreensocks · 07/02/2009 20:28

davidbowiescodpiece: I didn't like Fuzzibunz early on (when little one was lying in the same place for a long time), but now that my little boy is moving about (well, running in the case of now - as he's nearly 2yo) they fit him fab and work very well too. However, I've never got on well with microfibre inserts - they always seemed to cause leaks. The best thing I've found are prefolds - just pad folded with a bit extra folded down at the top for a boy (to help with the extra wetness in that area). I think a Tots Bots inside would really make the Fuzzi be out of shape and not have very good containment, as you want it to be close fitting around the legs. So in my opinion, don't think it would work very well. Though no harm in trying once!

lollipopmother · 07/02/2009 21:45

Wow, three newbies, welcome all!

NappyObsessed - My DD is 13lbs and on the tightest settings for Sandy's and they're baggy , are you sure your DD is 13lbs?!

Davidbowiescodpiece - I've not tried a Fuzzibunz before but I can't imagine stuffing it with a nappy would be suitable! You could stuff it with inserts/boosters/pre-folds, but a Tots is a nappy in its own right and really doesn't need to go inside a Fuzzi!

As for nappies being cheap ... well they are, if you stick to 2nd hand and buying only what you need, and not buying expensive brands. I however have got hundreds of brand new Ittis, they'll lose £3 per nappy when I sell 2nd hand, and I have for some unknown reason bought a load of BBOS which I just don't need .. at all! But they're just so nice! I've got five ffs, they are totally surplus to requirement, but that's addiction for you!

Everything I bought 2nd-hand I've managed to sell for what I bought it for, so not lost any money there, but I have lost money on a few things that I bought brand new and then didn't like (Bumhuggers, arrgh!).

OP posts:
mumoftoby · 07/02/2009 21:59

I can't even use the excuse of having another as my DH has booked a vasectomy - so my dreams of 4 have flown out the window . Although I can't imagine honestly enduring another pregnancy after a complicated 2nd one

My excuse now - is that I am really enjoying all of the baby care (and accessories) as much as possible with these 2!

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 07/02/2009 22:38

ive only bought 2 types of nappies so far. the mothercare smart nappies (OMG never again) which i bought alot of them and was using for 6 months b4 i tried a mother ease OS and have been using them ever since.
MC smart nappy used to leak all the time, and wraps could only be used once due to the deisgn.
SUCH a waste of money!
got 12 MEOS for 30 quid on here plus a few wraps so all in all ive not done bad, bought 3 new wraps in the last fortnight tho

mumoftoby · 07/02/2009 22:51

That isn't too bad at all Natty. I think that you are very restrained. My stash involves:

10 fluffles
3 wonderoos (and 1 more on the way)
4 cotton tots bots
1 nature babies cotton diddy (on the way)
1 ella's house bumhugger (on the way)
2 tots wraps
4 fleece tots wraps
3 ME airflow wraps
2 woollen wraps (currently being knitted)

and can't stop bidding on more!

Did you manage to sell on your smart nappies?

ilovemydogandMrObama · 08/02/2009 00:05

Post Crayon Episode (where DD chucked in crayons into washing machine when I wasn't looking ruining several nappies)

4 Sandys Large
1 Sandys Bamboo

3 Sandys colored small
4 Bum Genius AIO medium
4 Flexitots
4 Lollipop Bamboo
2 Lollipop Softees

2 Babybeehinds

above for DD (aged 2.5 and DS 11 months)

Quite restrained, I think

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 08/02/2009 00:22

no i didnt resale for them in larger sizes is awful as ppl tend to buy them in newborn realise they are crap and then wont touch them.
plus i feel bad selling something i know doesnt work,
ive kept the inserts to use as boosters and in the future inserts for pocket nappies.
but the wraps are gathering dust in the attic lol!
im far too honest im afraid. if asked if they are any good i would tell the truth

4andnotout · 08/02/2009 11:01

I have over 100 nappies for 2 babies It will be a nice return when the time comes to sell them though, and i have been giving some away to friends and on the free board. Im trying to sell my bumgenius v2's to fund bbos, i prefer btp nappies as they fit both girls then. I hoping to start ttc again in december so will hopefully have a cloth bot to play with for a few more years yet!
We are actually staying at my sil's for the weekend and using despicables and i cant wait to get them back into cloth!
