(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

I know, that's why I'm soooo tempted (should really get mum to get them down from the loft for when we go visit...). finally found some 2ndhand bumhuggers so I will "treat" myself to a disana wool wrap and I'll add a couple of tie-ons to the order...

TheLadyEvenstar · 27/11/2008 21:57

SO seriously peeps, anyone fancy being a guinea pig for me? I wanna try my nappies on smaller bubbas and bigger ones....just need rough sizes!!!!

If they work I want to make them to order.

Also I am open to offers on all nappies (p&p extra) Just need rid of them!!!

lollipopmother · 27/11/2008 22:15

I'll put my DD forward to be a guinea pig if you like, she's 10 weeks and about 12lb but she's putting on 7oz a week although that's got to stop at some point I assume. She seems to be tall and thin, hardly an oz of fat on her.

I had a photographer take some pics of her today actually, they came out brilliantly and i've put a couple on my profile to thoroughly show off

TheLadyEvenstar · 27/11/2008 22:21

Lolli, I shall make a nappy and send to you then...you can tell me your opinion!!!!

Your piccy of her in incubator made me cry!!!
My ds2 was in one for 5days and I had such a bad experience at the hospital that i can't think about it without getting teary. They were mean to me!

AnnVan · 27/11/2008 22:34

Lady - seb can guinea pig for you - is 12lb 13 quite tall and slim waisted with fatty legs

lollipopmother · 27/11/2008 22:53

Lady - Thanks, I'm happy to try new nappies .

My hospital experience was on the whole quite positive except for her 1st night when they decided to do a lumbar puncture on her which was the most horrendous and barbaric thing to be doing to a baby that was only 26hrs old, and even 10 weeks later I still can't talk or think about it without getting choked up. Up until then I hadn't really assessed my feelings for her (too drugged up!!), but sitting outside the room whilst they did the procedure and hearing her screaming her little heart out made me so fearcly in love with her that I was quite shocked at my feelings. I totally lost it that night and didn't regain composure for at least a day!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 27/11/2008 22:54

lady - if you need more guinea pigs... DD's 12 wks tomorrow, about 12lb, slim waist, chubbyish legs

littlelamb · 27/11/2008 23:40

Hello! Can I join the thread? I am a newbie to using cloth but I am already impressed. Ds is wearing size 2 tots bots nd so far so good. I managed to get some fleece boosters today so he has one on now. Last night we had some leaks but nothing too bad. Is it true that the tots bots wraps are generally a bit rubbish? I was going to order a fleece one for overnight, is there something else you would recommend? Last question (for now) - ds is 24 weeks but quite long and about 19lbs now, and though these state that they will fit up to 35lb they already seem to be a good fit, if anything quite short- one of the most surprising things for me is that they don't go as far up to his armpits as disposables! (the other is how little bf poo he actually does- the disposables must somehow spread it - yuck!)

AnnVan · 28/11/2008 08:05

littlelamb welcome! Totsbots nappies do have a very low rise- other cloth nappies come a bit higher. The disadvantage of this (I've found) is that they look small on taller DC's VERY quickly. My DS is 10 weeks but a tall fella, and the few tots nappies he has are already starting to lookk a bit too small.

TheLadyEvenstar · 28/11/2008 09:05

Right Ladies, I shall get on the case of making these nappies! I first have to go and buy a nice pink fleece cos dd's need pink!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 28/11/2008 09:05

Welcome littlelamb! If you had leaks at night, it's probably not due to the Tots Bots nappies (unless they were new & hadn't been pre-washed yet). I would put it down to the Tots Bots wraps, which I never found very good myself - though I haven't tried newer style ones.

I would suggest you tried a Motherease Airflow wrap, as they're brilliant, my all time favourite, and the most reliable cover anyone can find! Whenever I hear that someone is having problems with leaks on good nappies, I think they really need to try a ME Airflow wrap before they give up on cloth!

I actually have a spare large Motherease Airflow wrap which you can have, totally free of charge - don't even need to pay postage! If you email me your mailing address, I'll pop it in the post to you later today. The print is a bit faded on it (as some of the ME wrap prints do) but it's perfectly functional. Then if you find that it works well for you, you can buy some more, perhaps brighter & more colourful prints. But at least you'll see how they work. Anyway, if interested, drop me an email at [email protected]

oopsacoconut · 28/11/2008 09:18

MOrning All

I would second the totsbots wraps being rubbish - Motherease airflow(popper ones) are by far the best.

Lady I have 13wk old DD 11 lb who is skinny in the waist and slightly chunky in the thighs (I think it's the only place my milk is going ) She is generally a dinky tot. If you still want volunteers.

Once we have moved house I am going to go through the bags of nappies I have and see what I have. At the momnet we are using our new Pocket Bots but are very short of stuffing stuff - what is good to use? If I just get some terry's can I cut them in half and use them?

rusmum · 28/11/2008 09:23

lady another guinea pig here!! LOL

DD is 17 weeks and 14lb-

rusmum · 28/11/2008 09:24

i had 1st leak last night with air flow wrap?? at waist back??

thebluefoxategreensocks · 28/11/2008 09:34

rusmum: is it possible a bit of nappy was exposed/hanging out at the back? I've found that the only time dampness escapes out of an Airflow is when either the nappy is too big/wrap too small, and a bit of nappy extends past the edge of the wrap...really need to have everything covered inside. Anyway, just an idea!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 28/11/2008 09:58

rusmum - had this the other night - wrap label was hanging out and touching nappy inside so we had wet patch on back...

AnnVan · 28/11/2008 10:01

Second the exposed nappy suggestion - we've had that before. also if the nappy gets too soggy the wee some times escapes

lollipopmother · 28/11/2008 10:15

I have only had one leak since using cloth and that was from a Wonderoo, been using cloth for 7 weeks now, feel like I've been using it forever!

rusmum · 28/11/2008 10:23

lollipop loveable?? what like may buy some. 5 for £15, that good??

lollipopmother · 28/11/2008 10:34

Rusmum - I really like Lovables because they dry so quickly, the whole lot will be dry in 4 hours on an airer. I've only used the regular lovables though, they have fleece inside and are made of microfibre. There are bamboo lovables but I haven't tried these, I've never seen one mention having fleece inside so I've never bothered. My MF lovables are nippa fastening so they're always a good fit. I would say that £3 per lovable is good yes.

lollipopmother · 28/11/2008 10:41

Does anyone have smelly Bumhuggers? I swear that I can't tell the difference between a pooey nappy and a wet one. They don't pong so bad that I can smell her without sticking my nose right down there and taking a good wiff, but they definitely don't smell good. Am I going to have to do the whole stripping thing? I've only had them about 5 weeks and they're brand new.

rusmum · 28/11/2008 10:49

yes mu huga smellls revoltting smells the whole room out..
