GENERAL CHAT THREAD FOR CLOTH NAPPY USERS - PART 3

1000 replies

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 30/10/2008 19:29

(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

Tree, I have DD 13yrs, DS1 2yrs and DS2 7wks. Only using Cloth with DS2 and he was 12lb 1oz last week.

Rachel - thanks for the offer, would need medium wraps though. Have got one for use with my ME sandy but wanted a couple more to use over fluffles and terry sq too. Do you know of anywhere i could get some at a more affordable price?

My stash of nappies is growing and i just keep buying the bargains! Help i think i'm a nappy-o-holic!!

4andnotout · 26/11/2008 22:14

Tree - have DD 13yrs, DS1 2yrs and DS2 7wks. No what you mean about DH thinks its great using cloth but isn't interested in the ins and out and is happy to use any as long as it's not the terry sq lol!

AnnVan - Will try that site, had these 2 fluffles off nappytimes site for £4.50 each. DS isn't tall so will bear in mind what you say about the rise. Do they really stay so fluffy after you've washed them as think i could struggle getting them to fit under his clothes!

Lollipop - My stash is growing so just trying to find the right nappies for the right occasions if you know what i mean. Will def try to get the bumhuggers. I know what you mean in regards to the explosions as have had many leaks when i've used disposables to go out - last one was in tescos on saturday and it got everywhere so embarrassing.

Ladyevenstar - that napppy looks fab well done to you!!!

BBM thanks for the welcome. Can see i'm gonna enjoy chatting on here, especially with all the tips!!

babyjjbaby · 26/11/2008 22:48

thanks rachel have paid decided not to go to bed early after all

any1 got any boosters or small elleas house cheap

thebluefoxategreensocks · 26/11/2008 23:17

babyjjbaby: thanks for payment, will get it posted to you on Friday.

VeeBee3: I know what you mean about leaks with disposables. All the disaster nappies (as in horrible messes everywhere, or soiled clothes) have always been with disposables. Sometimes it's nearly been a nightmare going on holiday or away when not really able to use cloth, as the disposables just aren't very reliable. Cloth is soooo much better!

treedelivery · 26/11/2008 23:40

VeeBee3 - I've only been posting a week or something - this is a lovely lovely friendly and happy thread. Be warned however it WILL lead to a nappy stash increase!!!

wastingmyeducation · 27/11/2008 07:43

Oh, I love parcels! I've been buying xmas pressies, stuff for DS, nappies and allsorts online! Driving the postman nuts. I've got a nursing necklace on it's way and I can't wait, DS is scratching me to bits!

xx

4andnotout · 27/11/2008 08:20

rachel have sent payment

AnnVan · 27/11/2008 09:11

VeeBee - YEs the Fluffles do stay that fluffy even after washing. The good thing about microfibre is it stays soft even when washing in hard water and then line drying. It also dries super quick so I love my mf nappies.

Rusmum - I'm not selling my teddies, I'm thinking of selling my bamboos (sorry) Glad to see someone else really likes the Teddies.

Speaking of selling off my bamboo nappies - anyone got any idea how much I should ask for them? I don't want to be ripping anyone off by asking too much.

swampster · 27/11/2008 09:39

Can I rain on the Fluffle parade? Someone said they smelt like wet dog after a bit and I'm afraid I agree. Despite the fact that they are very reliable, quick-drying and great for night-time, I HATE Fluffles with a vengeance. Can't decide whether to keep mine for emergencies or get blissfully rid!

AND their texture makes my flesh crawl.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 27/11/2008 09:51

4andnotout: Payment recevied - thanks! Will get it posted out to you tomorrow. x

swampster: is it old or new style Fluffles you have? I'm sure I have more than one kind before, and the ones I had before really annoyed me. However, I have one size 2 fluffle at the moment, with very short pile, and I love it! So maybe it's the newer ones that are more annoying?

swampster · 27/11/2008 09:55

I have one older short-pile, two newer style super fluffy. They are all damp puppies. If I wanted a dog I'd get one!

TheLadyEvenstar · 27/11/2008 11:17

Ann what size ar they?

rusmum · 27/11/2008 11:47

annvan struggle to get teddies 2nd hand.. y??? I bought big size and removed velcro- use as nippa folded down!!
what bamboo you getting rid of?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 27/11/2008 13:07

I remember this question being asked before, but can't remember the answer.... old v new style bumhugger - much difference in performance? I have old style hemp and not too bothered really, don't take too long to dry and a bit of tumble to soften...

lollipopmother · 27/11/2008 14:09

Sunflower - No difference in performance that i've noticed hun. I do prefer the new style purely because I find it's easier to care for them because the old style ones I've got have gone a bit lumpy whereas the new style means you can straighten out the insert. They come up really nicely when tumbled too, I wish I had a drier since I zapped them in my MILs at the weekend.

treedelivery · 27/11/2008 15:13

Oooohhh back to nappy land thread for me. Everyone out there on mumsnet talking about money it seems. Too depressing!!

Out of hospital yesterday, night shift on the same ward tonight.

Just found out from payroll probably won't get paid this month. Started new job Nov 10th and some form or other lost. It's CHRISTMAS!!!

Dear God I hope they sort my maternity out soon!! HAve spent all my money on nappies!

treedelivery · 27/11/2008 15:13

Sorry, clearly nothing to do with nappies.

AnnVan · 27/11/2008 15:32

My bamboo nappies are Size 2 Bambinex ones. I currently fold them down to fit the litle man - nippa fastening ones.

tree don't worry about non nappy-related chat, we talk about whatever on here. However, anyone who chats on here must put up with nappy raptures over cuties in cloth!
I had a lady ask me about mine this morning and she said she tried one on her DS but 'he got wet so quickly I stopped' I do have to wander if people have got so used to the fact that you can leave dispos to get really puffy and smelly that they've got lazy. DP's aunt has a little boy and leaves him in his dispos so long he smells atrocious, I have to hold my breath every time he walks past me. Seb only tends to smell bad in the morning when he has a very soggy nappy on from the night.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 27/11/2008 15:43

With all these experienced cloth users here, just wondering if anyone has used the Disana tie-on nappies with a newborn? Or maybe I should start a thread on Mumsnet to catch anyone's eye who isn't on here!

Anyway, I recently bought a bundle of 19-20 of them, for £18 posted, which seemed a good deal, as they look very lightly used. I've always thought they seemed neat, and would be ideal for a baby when first born, since they're flexible, thin, and cheap. They don't seem too bad to fold/tie, as I tried them on my 20mo son, as well as dolls! But just not sure how close fitting they'll be around the legs...if they'll hold newborn poo! Anyway, guess I'll find out what they're like in April...but thought it might be nice to hear of someone else using them successfully! I've got about 14 Tots Bots, as well as a dozen or so one-size Popolini nappies (they're not as big as ME ones). So anyway, I have loads of nappies for when baby is born...so if the 19 Disanas don't work, it's not the end of the world. But I'm hoping they'll be ideal.

rusmum · 27/11/2008 16:02

amm van selling a bamboo bambinmex for me to try?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 27/11/2008 16:50

lollipop - thanks, I seem to find only old ones for sale 2ndhand...

rachel - those tie-ons are always tempting me... in fact I nearly bought some yesterday (as if I need more nappies). haven't use them, but if I'd seen them earlier I probably would have got some for first weeks at least as they're so cheap... and they're the ones I wore as a baby!

rusmum · 27/11/2008 17:43

look

have added for sale!!

AnnVan · 27/11/2008 18:38

Rusmum I could do - how much would you give for it? and what colour? blue, green or natural?
