(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

I don't think they popper down AnnVan but I've not seen a big one.

AnnVan · 22/11/2008 22:57

Oh and Lollipop - how long do you find the bumhuggers take to dry?

AnnVan · 22/11/2008 22:58

Well, because he's so long, I don't think the rise will be a problem, it's more a matter of whether the'll be able to popper skinny enough for him

HI all

Lollipop - have emailed you. Please be pushy about any nappies you have to sell - it's really recycling after all. And anyway I can always say no ta. Can't see it though as it's too much fun getting parcels.

Need to buy muslin's then.

Do Sandy's need to be tumble dried now and then? To avoid crunch?

Fell and sprained foot today. Tut. 2nd time in a month, bubs having a bumpy ride in there!

treedelivery · 22/11/2008 23:53

I got some used wraps from a mums netter completely free, and I love buying used nappies. They come with such a positive vibe.
Sort of lovely karma - does anyone know what I mean?

TheLadyEvenstar · 23/11/2008 00:51

ohhhhhhhhh doesn't anyone want my nappies make me offers please DP is threatening to put me and the nappies and buggies in the cellar save me pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

treedelivery · 23/11/2008 10:13

Hi Ladyevenstar - Am on look out for patterned/coloured wraps, fun AIO or pockets, and microfibre nappies. Also sandys xs and s. Looked at your pics but am bit of novice so tell me if you have anything suitable?

Am in bed with sprained foot, had cramp in leg so now limping with a tennis ball for a calf, and my pelvis feels in bits.

Under snow and can't make snowmen with dd1

Hurmph.

Obvious thing to do is buy nappies.

lollipopmother · 23/11/2008 10:19

AnnVan The Bumhugger dries in 24-36h if you've got the tongue out, I wash with the tongue out and then hang to dry inside.

Lady - I've looked at your nappies a couple of times but there's nothing I could make use of this time I'm afraid.

ilovemydog · 23/11/2008 10:21

treedelivery sorry about your foot!

Did you see the offer I posted re: bumgenius?

They are quite good for out and about and are like a disposable ( don't need a wrap). Husbands and mils love them.

However, they secure by velcro which can get quite worn. Other drawback is that you have to wash the whole thing, whereas with a nappy/wrap system, you can usually just change the nappy, and not have to wash the wrap...

treedelivery · 23/11/2008 10:30

Hi - Saw offer, and very nearly placed order. But i have to buy a breast pump and I'm skint. Poop. After a medela one thats £90!!!

lollipopmother · 23/11/2008 11:16

Jesus Christ, 90 quid for a breast pump?! I'm sure mine was about £20 from Argos!

Tree - Sorry to hear about your foot, sounds very painful. I have a couple of brand new S Sandys if you want me to add a couple?!

treedelivery · 23/11/2008 11:39

Lollipop - Go for it! Although will have to look at final amount obviously.

Breastpump my own fault - I want a medela one. Might just a get a hand one and be done with it. Seem to remember sitting about loads expressing with dd1. Probably not feasable this time round so looking for speedy pump!

ilovemydog · 23/11/2008 12:35

Treedelivery would send you my Medela Swing, but it's literally smoking - the motor sends up smoke signals, and DP really hates me using it as he's sure it will explode....

Have heard good things about the Lactaline...

ps: where are you that it's snowing?

Essie or Sunflower - How much do you reckon a 2nd hand non-stained Pop-In is worth? I've been offered a couple with the night time soaker, she's asking for £9.50 each, been used for a month and a half. Is that a reasonable price, don't want to miss a good deal but equally I don't want to be siffed either!

treedelivery · 23/11/2008 14:04

Lollipop - have emailed you.

Having a day of strange hormones. If wasn't preggers would swear was getting a 'flu.

4andnotout · 23/11/2008 14:49

Hi everyone
Well the nappy stripping worked, dd3 didn't smell like a hamster cage this morning We had really thick snow here, we tried to get to my parents in the next village to pick up dd's 1&2 but our car couldn't make it up the hill even with me pushing it, so after much slipping sliding and desperation we turned it around and came home. Hopefully it will thaw by morning so mum can take dd1 to school but if not she will just have to stay at home!

BigBadMouse · 23/11/2008 15:31

EPPM - Hello - tis like an old friend popping round to my home for a cup of tea . Yes I'm OK thanks given the circumstances. Chin up and all that (I hide away here as much as poss ).

AnnVan - do you want to borrow a large bumhugger to try out. I have one I can lone you if you like. My DD2 is very tall and thin and has been wearing them for ages - can;t remember how old she was when she got one but it was quite young IIRC.

4 glad the stipping worked. How do you do it?

treedelivery - sorry about the ankle and possible flu .

We have no snow down here - yet, Don;t usually get it as we are literally right next to the sea on several sides and it is too salty for the stuff to settle usually. Makes a good location for sun-bleaching nappies though

lollipopmother · 23/11/2008 15:43

BBM - I've been down in Dawlish this weekend, the out-laws have a lovely house with sea views that I'm really jealous of. I was rather hoping we'd get snowed in and not be able to leave to go home, but alas it seems all that the weather could muster is a couple of showers .
On a positive note though I did get to use their tumble dryer and my white crunchy nappies are now super-soft, it's amazing the difference.

4andnotout - What nappies did you strip? Mine tend to smell just like a hamster cage as well!

AnnVan · 23/11/2008 17:29

BBM - that would be good thanks - just so I can see if they fit, because if they do don't see any point buying small ones.
Has anyone used Huggles from Nappies by Minki? I've seen that they're supposed to be an excellent night nappy, and was thinking of buying one to try out - anyone used and got any views?

Sebastian has terrible nappy rash today - big open sores on his bottom think he must have poo'd last night and it's been in contact with the slight nappy rash he already had. we left him half naked on his playgym for a couple of hours, then put his nappy on again so he could have a nap. waiting for him to wake so we can strip him off again for more air time.

4andnotout · 23/11/2008 17:34

I had to strip all the nappies as the washing machine wasn't rinsing the soap out properly so i filled the bath with water and 3 bottles of vinegar and left them over night. They dont smell of anything now which is much better than smelling of piddle

treedelivery · 23/11/2008 18:15

so what is stripping? Am imagining all sorts....Have your taken them to bits or something?

Now have the poo's. And bleeding piles. literally. Could do with a nice fluffy bum hugger myself.

Hope Sebastian's bum has improved as day's gone on.

lollipop - out-laws house sounds completely wonderful. Have you suggested they move to a nice retirement village?

4andnotout · 23/11/2008 18:35

Stripping is the removal of the detergent build up

AnnVan · 23/11/2008 19:03

how many prewashes do Sandy's need? mine arrived yesterday - one organic cotton and one regular.I think they're cute but DP's faves are the fluffles and the aqua teddies

BigBadMouse · 23/11/2008 19:53

AnnVan - one or two prewashes should be sufficient. tbh I think I used mine without a prewash - just changed them after an hour (I often do that [impatient nappy addict emoticon]). I don't like huggles I found them to be hugely bulky and they went scratchy very quickly even though we have soft water. They weren't all that absorbant either IMO - much prefer bumhuggers. email me on [email protected] with your address and I'll hunt down a bumhugger for you. Fluffles and teddies look cute but Sandy's do a better job IMO - plus you can't see them under a wrap anyway. There is going to be a noticeable difference in drying time though! Let us know what you think of them.
