thanks thumbwitch We do the egg white when things get really bad; it was a tip from an old family friend when DS was small and it's really effective. It doesn't help with her day to day rash though, or when she has a fungal rash, only on the bad teething type rash

I'll try the vaseline thing, and have some calendula cream already. you name it, we've tried it.

and there was me trying to avoid the frilly overknickers. that pink confection is truly vile KOMH.

was going to just call you knickers there but it suddenly all got very confusing.

ha, a challenge! have you tried aloe vera on it? Aloe vera gel for sunburn type stuff? It might work. I have just been conned persuaded into buying a large jar of aloe vera cream from a Country Fair stall that is supposed to be very good for nappy rash, eczema, dry skin, sunburn etc. Haven't had it long enough to know how good it is but the theory is good.

If you want to meet up anytime so I can show you my stash, let me know. DS is back at school as of next Tuesday and any day except Mondays and Wednesdays suits me fine

right could talk nappies all night, but we are off out early tomorrow so I need some sleep.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/08/2008 23:35

not tired aloe vera...will give anything a go though.

I'm beginning to wonder how easy it will be to potty train a 15 month old

I just use a faux-suede tote bag that my mum gave me for Christmas; it has been verrry useful as it has 2 straps that unbuckle completely and had to be used to tie DS into a restaurant high chair that came without harness!! .

But I have to admit that I have a secret supply of things that aren't generally available - my mum had a colostomy and when she sadly died last year, I took her stash of dry-wipes (use them as nappy liners) and mini-binbags which are lightly scented. I carry a packet of these binbags around with me to put wet cloth nappies in; tied up tight you can't smell them. Lord only knows what I will do when the stash runs out!

MatNanPlus · 28/08/2008 08:06

I use nappy sacks for used cloth when out, rinsed if available but she is good and just 3 inners, 1 wrap, some wet cw and nappy sacks & we are set.

lacks just looked on that forum and had to have a giggle - first post I clicked on had a ticker 'X years and X months until my next smear test'

Anyone want the other set of these - initial takers never got back to me and I have another set left.

BigBadMousey · 28/08/2008 09:22

Morning KOMH

kms123 · 28/08/2008 09:37

Great conversation, addict here too.

My son is 19 weeks and we have used cloth since he came home from hospital at 5 days old, although I do use disposables if I am out and about and overnight, but considering just going cloth fulltime. I also use cloth wipes at home too.

We have used motherese, little lambs (really like these) and tots bots. Mostly all bought on used nappy website.

I saw lovely tot bot fleece style wraps the other day and would like to get- anyone use? Are they waterproof enough? Look like would leak through?

I'm going to first nappucino tomorrow- excited.

I'm in scottish borders if there are any fellow clothies near me?

All my friends use disposables.

???????????????????????????????????????

All this sounds great but a a nappy virgin All of these names mean little. My 3 week old in cotton bottoms. Gone straight for small wrap as newborn looked wrong 9BABY 10LB +). Are ok but very bulky and nightmare with liquid pooh.aM NOT 100% CONVINCED BY THE WHOLE THING BUT WANT TO USE REUSABLE.

Should i sell these and buy something else??
What is good?

wastingmyeducation · 28/08/2008 09:45

Hello all!
DS spent the whole day and night in the terries, I tried the origami/bat fold, the jo fold and a modified kite fold. But they all come to his knees, and can't bend in the middle that well. I noticed on that Boo Coo link, that they suggest 60x60 squares are too bulky till they're 15lbs.
I'm getting a bit cheesed that the terries seem to restrict his movement so much, as they are really absorbent and the mahoosive bf poos he's done in them didn't leak or get on the wrap.

I need (want) a new bag. The one that came with my pram is unattractive and goes a funny shape when its full, and I can never find what I want in it. The Boots freebie doesn't have very secure pockets on the front and a pointless bottle holder taking up space on the inside. Now I've decided to ditch my separate handbag, I want something practical and nice!

rusmum - you need a nappy advisor who can demostrate all the different nappies to you. Cotton Bottoms are OK but have the problems you mention (although most nappies will look bulky on such a young baby).

If you look on this linkwww.realnappycampaign.com you can search for local advisors, financial incentives etc. I would recommend you hire a trial kit if you can and see what suits you best.

must dash - you'll get lots more replies anyway...this thread moves fast

BigBadMousey - you mentioned on my Little Ewes thread that you use bamboo squares, what make are they are and where did you get them?
I notice that Nappy Lady has some, and wondered if they would be any good.

KOMH current baby does get sore in dispies, think she reacts with the chemmies when she wees/poops.

Saying that she is red but not bothered at the moment as mummy ate prawns 2 days in a row and it seems her gut isn't impressed tho no tetchiness or tummy ache (she is Breast x 4, FF x2)

WME have you thought of trimming a few terries to a smaller size? and i find a sports back pack quite good as range of pockets and sturdy.
Tho don't take anything but a bottle of water for each of us when we go out in the mornings as she is napping. Tho have a dispie&NSack in the pram pocket.
