there is no rhyme or reason to DDs nappy rash BBM; it's very depressing. I thought it was cloth (well wraps to be precise as it's always bad around her legs) so stopped using cloth and it cleared up...a week later it was back with the dispos. We switched to pockets and it was fine for a while, then back with a vengeance. We have tried every brand of nappy going and every type of nappy cream and every type of wipe. we have tried no wipes, just water, chamomile tea, water with a bit of cream in. every time we switch, it clears up for a few days and then it's back

she gets big oval patches on her inner thighs as well and will quite happily sit, one leg cocked, scratting at herself like a terrier. We thought it might be PUL, but have some pockets with a cotton outer and the modern baby popins and they make no difference either.

She also gets eczema flare ups elsewhere, typically her tummy and the back of her neck and the only thing that will clear it all up is steroid creams. I hate using steroids on her nappy area though; I'm sure it's not a good thing in the long term.

oops....sorry to have gone on

I'm praying that DS2 will have a much more robust bottom when he arrives in November

KOMH am in Brdford pound shop capital of Yorkshire. Just sulking on mn as have had to share my bottle of lovely beer with dp asit is too strong to drink all of and feed piglet in the wee small hours plus have been alcohol deprived forsolong would probably fall over/go to bed in my contact lenses.

Does anyone have a good overnight nappy system to recomend as am using a posie at present and don't fancy padding up a terry as piglet likes to wriggle wriggle

LackaDAISYcal · 27/08/2008 21:27

I think she is; we try to have a bit of nappy off time every day, but it's more difficult when all she wants to do is run around; we keep finding wet patches on the carpet, sofa, stairs, kitchen floor.....

I don't know if anyone has ordered anything from BooCoo Nappies before, but they are very good. They also have a Blog where they sell off their discontinued and preloved stock. I have had some pretty good bargains from them recently.

I haven't yet had to buy liners as I've had lots of free samples and then just got another load when I did the M&B testing that'll keep me going for ages. Sainsbury's sell the Perfectly Happy People ones, but I prefer these as we use them as wipes as well.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/08/2008 21:32

Knickers, do your local council do a sample pack? They do one in Leeds that is pretty good, but iirc, I had to send a copy of DDs birth certificate in with the form. Anyhoo, it was a babybeehinds hemp, babybeehinds bamboo and a wrap, retail price over £30 which I thought was better than the alternative £20 voucher. They do a slightly different pack now though that includes a Bumgenius V3.

Are we allowed to mention any nappies we might be thinking about selling on this thread? or would that be a NO NO?

It was through the askamum forum, which is M&B magazines forum site. They advertise for product testers regularly, and then once a year do a whole swathe of testing for the M&B awards. you fill out a form saying what you want to test, then nearer the time you are emailed and it's a first come/first served basis for who gets picked. I was too late for double buggies (curses) but got nappies and skincare. I got a day pack of six different nappies plus loads of nice (and not so nice) skincare to test. filling in the forms was a bit of a drag, but hey, I get to keep the nappies . One of my PN chat buddies has tested for them loads of times and it's quite lucrative as she has sold the stuff afterwards (including travel systems) and made a small fortune.

The initial request for testers should come round again in February next year

as in pockets? I love em, but not all babies suit all types. We use fuzzis, happy heiney's, bumgenius V2 and DryBees (although they are a bit too big for her at the minute)

I generally use microfibre liners, but I have a couple of hemp ones for long journeys.

Ooh, I want to be a tester too! I thought I had a deal with Modern Baby, but actually they haven't given me as much of a discount as I thought (I got 10% off which I could have had on mumsnet anyways). Never mind, the nappies are arriving tomorrow, and I'm (tragically) really excited.
And I've just sold off the old styles!

Liners: I got some Bambino Mio ones on a roll from Boots.com. In fact, I bought several rolls, and can sell one roll of ?1000 on if you want, Jeee - I have an unopened one. Would tide you over anyhow. But a supply problem??

MatNanPlus · 27/08/2008 23:05

Wow KOMH those cats were a bit bright.

Used your link to the blog and sent an email for some of the items, hoping 2 come up for resale as only reserved at present tho wish they listed weights as well as sizes as had to keep flicking from 1 page to another as none are the same

The liners look ok. Just be aware of postage costs vs new from shop as recently people have been going nuts paying more in total than some new items cost!!

thumbwitch · 27/08/2008 23:11

LackaDAISYcal - don;t know if you've tried this idea on the nappy rash - a friend of mine uses cloth nappies and her nearly 2 year old had some appalling nappy rash, that they were painting with fresh egg white. Apparently it acts as a barrier and also heals the burn.

I also use cloth nappies (made by MIL to said friend's pattern) and DS has had a few interesting rashes but I manage to get rid of them by using my beeswax nipple ointment, made by a herbalist I know (with calendula and chamomile) and adding lavender oil to it. That works really well as the lavender oil is brilliant against burns and scalds (which is effectively what DS's nappy rash is). You could try this: get some lavender essential oil (a good one) and mix it with e.g. vaseline (you could use olive oil instead if you want but it's more messy; or you could try mixing it with E45 but that's an aqueous cream so I don't know how well that would work). You need about 10 drops per teaspoon of vaseline (most essential oil bottles have a dropper mechanism).

If you want to get hold of the beeswax with chamomile and calendula, go to this website. She might be able to help you with a cream/ointment for the eczema as well.

HTH!

Helloo, we're clothies too have been for years and always used flats till we were lent a littlekiwi quick flip and promptly plumped for a full set and never looked back. They may not be the prettiest nappies but they are easy.
Wouldn't recommend liners unless you're poo squeamish.
Interesting about the pads!
And the advice for treating stinky nappies is spot on- exactly how it was explained to me by littlekiwi several months ago.
Excellent thread by the way, an excuse to talk cloth without needing a reason

thumbwitch · 27/08/2008 23:16

Knickers - will you have to resort to those frilly over-knickers that we used to wear when we were kids? That should slow her down a bit?
