bambinex bamboo, poppers size 2. (I've had to fold these over at the front to fit my 14mo DD, but the poppers still popper iyswim)

surprisingly rather good. I was a bit sceptical as I didn't think they would hold a lot, but the fleece must wick a lot of the moisture away. They are a little bit bulky (not as bulky as the softee), but look very, very cute. I used them without a wrap a couple of times as well and they were fine.

isaidno · 31/08/2008 21:52

Evening all!
Just a quick (and possibly selfish) post! No nappies to sell just yet - I thought I had a buyer but she's been a bit slow contacting me.
Meanwhile, my pop-ins arrived, and I've been happily trialling them.
So far:
Good:
excellent containment of breastfed poo;
soft;
look lovely;

Bad:
Colours are not bright - but that's personal preference
Slow to dry (bamboo)

Indifferent:
had 2 wee leaks, but possibly due to bunching insert (so not necessarily the nappy)

Can anyone tell me - is it ok to soak bamboo nappies in plain water? I feel it helps with the giant breastfed poos...

Reusable wipes: I was going to buy some from Mothercare, but can't seem to get them:
top&tail muslins, huge pack, cheap price. muslins Anyone regularly visit Mothercare and seen any of these in stock?
How many will I need?

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 13:14

Hello all, where iseveryone?

Essie3 · 01/09/2008 13:37

I'm here - but it's quiet! Didn't want to add a second post seeing as I was the last poster.

Anyhow, I have to go. Just heard DS filling his (washable) nappy very loudly. Would be ok but I'm 5mins into a nappy wash! Grr!

Heartmum2Jamie · 01/09/2008 13:58

I'm here, have been reading the thread but haven't participated yet! I am slowly bookingmarking all the sites mentioned so far, lol!

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 14:16

I'm here, but I'm in a major flap over my hospital bag at the moment so I'm in a bit of a dither!

sunflower78 · 01/09/2008 14:39

I'm here too, just finished a load of ironing, hoping standing would help things happening (still getting lots of v.strong braxton hicks...) so that I can start using those nappies! Re-shuffled them again yesterday, they look so pretty and feel so soft... I just need a baby to go inside them!! So then I'll also have the excuse to buy some pocket nappies (I think they'll be maybe easier for first timers like me when out and about, but need to try which ones are best first... by the way, anyone tried these?)
Just remembered, I need to find my old flipflops for hospital bag for shower... where are they now?

MatNanPlus · 01/09/2008 15:14

SFlower Did say ouch first at the cost tho realistically that is only 340 dispi's so at 6 a day that is 56 days, so not bad.

Essie3 they are really small looking, cheap hankerchiefs would work or making your own from full size muslins, probably make 8 from a square?

or buy some bright towels in the market and cut and just catch the edge on a zigzag stitch?

MatNanPlus · 01/09/2008 15:17

Lollipop is bag sorted?

HM2Jamie Hi your 29wk bump looked bigger than your 31 wk bump

sunflower78 · 01/09/2008 15:44

MatNan - only need a couple btp (so use them for longer and possibly 2ndhand - just trying to familiarise with all brands... so many out there!). I have sandy's and a few fluffles as "main" ones, but was mainly thinking for outings, especially for DP's outings... if you can think of any other good (and cheaper) options... Thanks

sunflower78 · 01/09/2008 15:51

lollipop - been going through my hospital bag again and again for weeks now (you'd think I'd be more confident 2nd time round, but I keep on thinking I've missed something...). Will probably have to go through it again as it looks I'll have to take winter clothes (looking quite miserable out there atm...)

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 15:59

I've only just packed my hospital bag and I was due on Saturday!

lou222 · 01/09/2008 16:04

i posted days ago and was recommended to go on babykind for a nappy agent to visit in my home.
i've looked on the website but they don't have little lambs or itti bitti d'lish on there and they were ones i was particularly interested in
does anyone know of any other nappy agents?
that do have these makes?
thanks

lou222 · 01/09/2008 16:06

essie 3
I saw the pop ins in a local shop and i really like the look of them
have you tried lots of different makes to compare?
would they fit a 5 lb baby
the lady in the shop seemed to think they could go very small?

Heartmum2Jamie · 01/09/2008 16:26

Matnanplus Thanks!! I was hoping that baby just had a massive growth spurt in the last few weeks and would stop growing so fast. I can't see as much of a change in the last few pics (I take them weekly), so fingers crossed. Will be finding our roughly how big they estimate this one to be tomorrow as was measuring 6 weeks ahead at 28 weeks .

Have just been reading another thread about drying nappies with interest, especially as my drier blew up in Feb, lol! Glad to know that by going a bit mad with the nappy buying means I will have time to air dry on the airer. I wonder if I can use that as an excuse to buy a few more?

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 16:55

AnnVan - I've had mine packed since 36 weeks! It's just that today I suddenly realised that I was hoping to get in the birthing pool and that I hadn't packed anything for it, which induced a sudden hormonal hysteria and much flapping and dithering!

Matnan - I am now all re-packed and the bags are at the door ready to go - now all I need are some ruddy contractions!

lollipopmother · 01/09/2008 16:57

Oh damn, pressed send before I was done!

I've heard that you're not supposed to put fabric softener in with the nappies - is this right? If so, what do people use? I was thinking one of those eco-balls? But then I heard about soap nuts. Should I use both at the same time?

AnnVan · 01/09/2008 17:49

lollipop as far as I know no fabric softener in ANY of baby's clothes including nappies. Apparently it can affect baby's skin. Which makes me wander why Fairy are currently advertising fabric softener to 'soften baby's world'?

When are you due? Nothing doing here except a monster grump. I feel REALLY bad tempered at themo!

FrannyandZooey · 01/09/2008 18:29

thank you for advice - can I ask about removing stains from fleece nappies? sunshine? anything else?

MatNanPlus · 01/09/2008 20:10

White vinegat to remove stains and soften, half a cup in the wash space and half a cup in the conditioner space.

I soak pooped nappies/wraps in a vanish and napisan solution (1 quarter scoop vanish-white tub, 100ml Napisan and 10 lt water), probably not reccommended but they do come up clean, am in italy and the sun is so hot that the bambino are dry in an hot and if you leave them too long they fry to cardboard and need a good beating

They do look good tho S76 for reluctant users.

Glad bags are packed AV & Lollipop

Is there alot of fluid HM2J?
