...get in the way of you when you are in the supermarket dragging around a pram, trolley and fiddly child and then they sneer down at you with their basket full of organic lettuce, baguettes and mini-tampons while your trolley is loaded with nappies, a giant pot of Sudocrem and enough chocolate bars to re-sink the Titanic.

You then have to manoever around them while they continue said sneering.

God you can tell what sort of evening I have had, can't you? And I am embarrassed to admit that I used to be one of those women. I apologise to all you mums out there unreservedly.

Now for chocolate bars and MN......

ranting · 22/08/2008 23:09

I don't live in an M&S area!!!

expatinscotland · 22/08/2008 23:12

i don't live in an M&S area, either.

we have to go to . . . greenock.

i have to try to remember to take the face plate off the car stereo, lock everything up, etc.

they do have the Cath Kidston reusable bags, however

cheesesarnie · 22/08/2008 23:13

i liked when i lived in bath-popping in after work for dinner-mmmmm lovely

expatinscotland · 22/08/2008 23:14

i used to do that in Edinburgh. pop in for a Friday night 'treat' of the dinner for two plus bottle of wine for a tenner.

then to Blockbuster for a film for me and DH.

sigh.

then we had kids.

Aitch · 22/08/2008 23:19

see... that m&s deal fed our family tonight. tuna steaks, asparagus, wine, some wierd jelly thing and some leftover potatoes. dh discovered last time it was on that if you go before 12 on a sunday they give you a box of 8 quid truffles because they can't serve you the booze. we're thinking of sticking to then from now on... house is full of booze. [teetotal]

VeniVidiVickiQV · 22/08/2008 23:19

What was that about the cheating gymnast???

Aitch · 22/08/2008 23:20

it's such a clever deal, SM, they must be absolutely tanking the takeaways on the weekends. cunning stuart rose...

ranting · 22/08/2008 23:21

Weird jelly thing? Brings to mine The Blob, great B horror film that.

Aitch · 22/08/2008 23:24

it must be the cheapest dessert they can possibly make. some, er, red jelly with some, er, fruit in it. price it up at £3.99 knowing not even the sneering supermarket spinsters are stoopid enough to buy it at that price but watch it fly off the shelves come the £10 meal deal.

ranting · 22/08/2008 23:25

Lol!!

scottishmummy · 22/08/2008 23:28

essentially i am stingy canny wi my money so any ole bargain goes aye Fandabbydosie

scottishmummy · 22/08/2008 23:30

scottishmummy · 22/08/2008 23:36

i also live near M&S so elaborate,i buy the deal get truffles B4 11am sat/sun?nice

susiecutiebananas · 22/08/2008 23:36

Good God! This is utterly ridiculous!

I've just read the OP, and felt it was not funny at all.

Read Aitch's first post, then the OP's response and was GOBSMACKED!

Completely defensive, and OTT for NO reason at all, other than the fact that Aitch didn't agree with her, and respond with a 'light hearted banter' the OP was expecting.

AItch has simply been HONEST. then defended/ explained her post- with out actually needing too. All of you who are getting at AItch, are completely mis reading and missing the point, from the start.

I can't believe the things being said on this thread. It has nothing to do with "newbies" < hate that term, passionately> and older members, but wholly due to someone having a different reaction/ opinion to the OP. NOthing more, nothing less.

Get a grip, FFS!

Can I get a few more in ?
yes....

susiecutiebananas · 22/08/2008 23:43

and i'm a page behind the ridiculousness it would seem... still, I've made my point!

Also, OP, there is really no need to 'return MN registration' . Founcing is never becoming, to even the most stylish MNetter... It should also be reserved for very special and rare circumstances, of which, this is not one... it was a minor disagreement. Your OP wasn't received in the manner you hoped, by all. thats all. It was not personal. Still, if youfeel this was a reason to leave, then perhaps this is not quite the right place for you, as you certainly need to be a little tougher... do come back

Aitch · 22/08/2008 23:45

oh yes, susiecutie, but we are moved on now, there have been flounces and a singalong and allsorts. liquorice allsorts, from the blessed M&S. thank you, nevertheless, for agreeing so wholeheartedly With Me.

it might be a jocko licensing thing, sm, are you still living up here? we can't buy booze until 12 midday.

scottishmummy · 22/08/2008 23:50
