2point4kids · 16/07/2008 16:59

I tell DS1 every day. He never usually responds but will occasionally say 'I like Mummy' back
He is 2.9.

TrinityRhino · 16/07/2008 17:01

artichokes · 16/07/2008 17:03

I tell dd (23 months) a couple of times a day and she says "I uv oo too" or "we friends, good friends" .

Lazycow · 16/07/2008 17:03

I always say it to ds (3.5yrs old) as part of out goodnight routine but sometimes also say it spontaneously at other times

He says 'I love you' sometimes just out of the blue too but I have noticed recently that he uses the line if he thinks he is in trouble for something - He know I'm a sucker for it

It's part of the bedtime routine here too. DS is 5 and he says it first 'I love you mummy, I love you sooooo much'.
I say it first to DD who is 3.7 She rarely says anything but last night she said 'I don't love you, I love Lucy' (friend she had been playing with earlier in the day)

OverMyDeadBody · 16/07/2008 20:05

all the time, and he usually says is back or says some other complimentary thing.

On sunday we where in the peaks, DS was halfway up a climb and I was belaying from below, when he turned round and said "do you know what mum? I love you". Made all the hardcore male climbers gathered at the bottom laugh!

tiredemma · 16/07/2008 20:07

All the time (sadly, I dont ever remember being told that I was loved at all during my childhood- maybe I was but I dont ever recall it)

So im always saying it.

DS2 (age 5 ) says " I love you mommy" and I say
"how much?"

and he says
"Too much!"

Oh he makes my heart melt.

Jazzicatz · 16/07/2008 20:08

Just as I was putting ds1 to bed he said "I such love you mummy" Ohhh they can be so scrumptious sometimes!

All the time. Many times a day. DD now says it without me saying it first - has done for a couple of years. "Mummy I love you SOOOOOOO much" . It's lovely.

DS also says it now - not as much, but, whenever I say it to them, they always say "I love you too mumma".

It's great.

lou031205 · 16/07/2008 20:10

Several times a day. DD1 (2.7) has a little ritual. Whenever she goes to bed, nap, or otherwise says bye bye, she always says:

" bye bye, love you,See you later"

When I say I love her, she responds with a grin and a cuddle.

DD2, 11months, responds by bouncing!

beansmum · 16/07/2008 20:13

I tell ds all the time, he usually says 'I love you too' or 'I know'. He tells me he loves me without me saying it first a few times a day. His new thing is to say 'I love you Mum, I don't hate you at all'. Not sure where he got that from!

I say it several times a day at least I'm sure and when he goes to bed.

Seeing as he is only 10 months I typically get a "mmwwrraaaa" back or similar

One day he will tell me he loves me and I will quietly sob with joy.

DorrisMcWhirter · 16/07/2008 20:26

Many times a day!
Dd1 hugs me and says 'I love you Mummy'
Dd2 typically smacks me about the head, but she is only 9 months old.

WideWebWitch · 16/07/2008 20:28

loads, at least twice a day and they say it back.

Goober · 16/07/2008 20:29

DS1= twice a day, says love you too.

DD= three times a day, says Ilove my Mummy.( she is 12!)

DS2= hundreds of times, says love you more.

foofi · 16/07/2008 20:30

I don't tell them. DD said to me at bedtime 'Night night, I love you' and I said 'Goodnight, see you in the morning'. After I had closed her curtains she said 'I love you' again - desperate for me to say it back!

Jazzicatz · 16/07/2008 20:31

Foofi Why?

cmotdibbler · 16/07/2008 20:32

Several times a day. Ds (2) says "I love you mummy" back and if I'm (un)lucky I get a very wet and snotty kiss

LindzDelirium · 16/07/2008 20:33

I tell DD (5.11) I love her around 5 times a day - yesterday she went "come 'ere" and hugged me tight and today she said we should make matching tags to wear round our necks that say "friends forever".

melts

GivePeasAChance · 16/07/2008 20:33

God, you are all really lovey. About once a week here which does not seem very much compared to thread so far!

I was never told I was loved (aahhh) however I still knew I was!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/07/2008 20:35

I think foofi is trolling.

havent got the foggiest how often I say it but dd often responds 'I know, you always say that' and i say 'well I had to tell you' sometimes she will reciprocate
