Hello again ladies!

The IVF Pregnancy Club thread was so helpful for me throughout my pregnancy — there’s nothing like the support of people who just get it. Now that our babies have started to arrive, I thought it would be nice to start a follow-on thread so we can keep chatting, sharing advice and supporting each other as we adjust to life with our little ones 🥰

@SarahAndQuack Wow! Didn't realise you had a date! How exciting. Will you be 40 weeks at that point? I'm having extra scan tomorrow, seeing midwife Wed then extra scan and see consultant to book in the birth for next week also. I'll be 39 weeks by then. Yep, we're close! I might get an elective on sane day as your induction!

Is anyone else having any tummy troubles? Everything i eat is going straight through me ATM. Very churny. Sorry if TMI!

It could be a sign of you body clearing out to get ready for childbirth! Have a read up on it.

Great to see so many of you getting to the point of meeting your bundles of joy soon!!

Callie is 5 months today - how did that happen!! She has a bit of a cold and is out of sorts. I was away for the weekend and for the biggest smile off her when I came back 🥰

Anyone else worried about the heatwave forecast this week. Met Office is predicting 37 where I am! How am I going to keep baby cool!?

@CloudyIvy55 sorry for delay, we were discharge from hospital on Thursday (after a week in hospital!) and have just been in our bubble since.

I do have a suspected DVT in my leg so I’m currently on blood thinning injections (had a nightmare at the hospital on Friday- was left for 6 hours in a cubicle with my baby and offered no food or water and I couldn’t leave to get anything for myself)

other than that we are all good! Feeding and sleeping is going well. He’s going 3 hours between feeds in the day, with an alert period and good sleep in between and then 4 hours in the night but straight back to sleep after his feed.

had a couple of harder days feeding wise this week when my milk came in and he found it hard to latch and then my nipples were so sore and cracked for a day so was hard to feed but come out the other side now… I hope!

how are you?

and yes I am worried about heatwave with him, think it will
just be in nappies at home in front of a fan for a few days xx

Also, not sure if anyone has been using the Huckleberry app but it’s 10/10 and saved me a few times this week. Can track sleep, feeds, nappies etc honestly so good!

Glad you are home and settled @pastelheart sorry to hear about the DVT .. hopefully that is all fine with the blood thinners and you feel ok .. Awh that’s so nice he is sleeping/ feeding well .. super happy for you and happy Father’s Day to your man and everyone else also .. I wasn’t sure whether to get a card as I still don’t wana ‘jinx’ it so av got a thank you card and some thank you gifts to give him as he’s been so good doing all the gardening /housework helping me cook etc and he’s still working full time so he really has been so amazing this whole pregnancy to me and bump .. so it’s ’thank You’ based to show my appreciation rather than Father’s Day .. I got a Father’s card a few years back when I was preg before and that was one of our losses so I’ll just hold off till next year hopefully he can get a proper Father’s Day card when she is here .. 🤞🏽🙏✨💛..

I get my sweep tomorrow .., so hopefully that works .. was your one sore @pastelheart when you got your 1st one ? Av never had one before so don’t know what to expect .. not even sure if I am dilated at all down there yet so will find out tomorrow, do I need to be dilated before they can do it ?

hope you all survive the heat .. luckily I live in Scotland so I think 25* is the hottest we get 😅 still hot for us up here though !

CONGRATULATIONS! I am so pleased for you. How are you feeling after the birth? I am glad it was quick for you, I hope you aren’t feeling too rough with the blood loss. I felt quite poorly straight after from mine but I am okay now (although I keep forgetting to take my iron tablets)

Heh I slept on the couch in the living room with baby in her Moses as it was a few degrees cooler down there, but this was Scotland. I dunno how you guys did it down there! Is it over for you now? I found it kinda scary! Constantly checking her temp. Hope everyone is doing well! I’ve been quiet but I think we all have been absorbed by our tasks at hand. @pastelheart wow his sleep schedule sound wonderful! My baby has reached her due date now so hopefully her tummy will start sizing up and giving me longer sleep stretches! 4 hours would be amazing!

Thank you ✨ yes I feel good thanks .. still a bit weak and shaky feeling if I do too much though.. for everyone who had blood loss at birth, how long did it take your milk to come through ? The midwife did say it can be delayed coming, I am now at the 72 hour mark and one of my nipples is cracking she’s feeding so much , just hoping it’s not delayed too much longer

Oh no don’t let them get cracked @AmberRose26 :( are you still in hospital? Ask them to give you those gauze gell pads if so and if not (sorry I keep pushing this product but it’s done me so well) get weleda nipple balm. Your poor nipple :( and I’ll check my feeding diary (though it might not make sense to me now) from the early days to see when it came in

Thanks @Nosejug was reading online and said to just express from the sore nipple until it heals, so I had the hand pump out to express and it was milk that come through!!! woop .. so my milk has now come on.. feeding from my ‘good nipple’ and expressing from the sore to give it a chance to heal but still keep it productive 😅 panic over ✨💛 thank you I will order some of that cream just now 🥰 how are you feeling with everything now? Are you getting into a good routine with baby ? Xx

Oh brilliant @AmberRose26 a bit win!! We are getting on well I think? I constantly worry she’s not getting enough, and her weight gain is there but not 150 a week, closer to 100, but health visitor wasn’t worried. And heh, maybe not a routine as I just let her eat when she asks for it but generally she’ll feed then sleep a few hours 2-3 roughly! That’s routine enough for me :) it often takes me a while to wake up enough to feed her during the night so she’s learning patience hehe (I mean a few mins = a while, not like ages)

@AmberRose26 Hope you're getting on ok. The first week of feeding I found excruciating as both nipples were cracked and sore. This week they seem to have toughened up and feel absolutely fine. I used lansinoh nipple cream but it did make much difference. Think it was just a shock for them! Endless cluster feeding all day and night is not what they were used to 😂

i agree with the above… the first week mine were ruined but from the second week they have got better. Just a bit ouchy when he first latches for about 10 seconds and then no pain.

I was having more pain on the left side around week 2 mark and it was making me avoid feeding on that side, but I then realised the pain was from breast being too engorged so I hand expressed first again and that 100% helped

baby boy can be like a Dyson hoover stuck on extra power mode so that’s fun 😂😍

I have also started collecting my let down this week, currently have 4 bags frozen, I am collecting about an oz per feed so about 12oz per day. I’m not planning on feeding expressed milk regular so this will just be for as and when needed but I do have a fear of me getting poorly and being unable to feed as that’s what stopped me breast feeding with my first son. Xx

@Nosejug that's amazing with the couple hours sleep each time .. we are still very random just now but only day 5 I guess .. does she go down on her own when she sleeps ? My baby just wants cuddles all the time and as soon as I try her down she stirs again so that’s fine I just get lots of cuddle .. but I do want her to settle on her basket more 😅

@pastelheart @Sara237 this is very reassuring that you guys nipples have calmed down a bit .. my left nipple healed from having a wee break and express with it and now the right side is nippy and going to have to give it a break and just use the left I think ! 😂 hopefully as you both have said it’s just them having to ‘toughen up’ her latch is good it’s like she just sometimes she gets it sometimes she doesn’t so I just pull her off and reposition! ☺️ but it does nip to begin with.

I have started using the lanolin cream as still waiting on the Weleda coming in post but I have noticed she hasn’t done a poo since using the cream .. not sure it’s connected or coincidence?? anyone else found it’s effected bowls ?? She is peeing and she put on her wee bit weight on day 5 visit so she is getting enough .. midwife said they can go up to 3 days without a poo but everything I read say aiming for at lest two a day .. that’s been since 5 pm Tues so 36 hours now she’s not poo’rd for 🤔 midwife is phoning tomorrow (day 7) so I have to mention then if she has pooed by then 🤞🏽 little worried about it 🤨

@AmberRose26 I don't think nipple cream would affect digestion. I've read that breast milk is so well digested that there's little waste to excrete but also that going 36 hours without a poo could be insufficient milk. All so confusing! Hopefully she'll do something soon but if midwife not concerned but monitoring then it sounds fairly normal.
Random is the right word for sleep here ATM too Cluster feeds, lots of sleep in day and then really noisy at night while asleep seems our pattern on day 17 now. He'll go till about midnight if he goes down about 8.30 or 2 if he goes at 11. Then he'll feed for up to an hour with multiple bum changes. Then could be anything from 90 mins to 3.5 hours before it starts again. Then some mornings he'll sleep till 8 or 9 or be wide awake from 6 am ...I just say to myself, another night down! My husband took him for a long walk 8-10 so I could sleep as felt really shaky this morning. We're in the newborn trenches as they say. I was crying at 2am after putting him down after a good feed at 12.30...just so tiring. Then daytime rolls around and it's all ok again! On it goes! Xxx

@AmberRose26 I’m assuming the creams are fine for digestion, certainly haven’t had a lack of poos over here (if she catches us off guard she can shoot it right across the room!)

daytime she does complain when put down unless already deeply sleeping but night time she’s somehow ok with it for the most part (I have to keep touching wood so it can continue!) it might also be to do with my attentiveness in the day time, hovering by offering comfort at little whimpers whereas at night its lights out etc, though she never seems upset. I can’t seem to draw a burp from her but I do feel that’s her daytime fussiness, though why wouldn’t that be at night too. Probably her first 4/5 days in neonatal when I wasn’t in the room with her set her up to be ok with being laid down. I can’t tell if this is all becuase she’s technically only a few days old despite approaching 4 weeks (and therefore will reach a developmental milestone and change a lot) or if we’ve been blessed with an easy going baby.

@Sara237 that sounds tough :( are you able to sleep when she sleeps in the day? I had insomnia for a long time in my 20s and have never been able to nap, however magically all the hormones seem to have a very soporific effect on me so that I’m sleeping pretty late with her in the bedroom and able to return to sleep. We have a cloud that plays music (someone gave it to us) that in my head takes over from me singing etc.
