Nursery lying

Hello so this afternoon I went to pick up my little one from the nursery the had radish and they told me my daughter didn't like it and my daughter 4 year old heard that and came all the way home saying that she liked and they even eat it with butter. What's your thoughts please mummies? I am really upset on why the hell they lied! I just feel they are constantly testing my parental skills! Thank you

Now I'm really thinking about this Radish Test. How do you pass it? What happens if you fail? I'm wondering if I inadvertently failed the buttered vegetable test at some point in my own DD's nursery years, and that's why I'm being punished by her being such a stroppy 12 year old now. It's a whole new world of parenting paranoia that I've neglected until now 😬.

ERthree · 08/05/2025 21:24

Bloody hell, it was probably a mix up from one member of staff to another. Do you really having nothing else to be bothered by ?

Crinkleybottomburger · 08/05/2025 21:25

I think this is a wind up. Nobody eats radish until they’re 33.

Massive overreaction from you and your daughter.
Sounds like you need to stop sweating the small stuff.

MoominMai · 08/05/2025 21:26

I am child free so I could be wrong but this entire thread reads like a troll post with OP getting increasingly hysterical about radishes, butter, confused identities with a pinch of paranoia(?) to boot…😳

MissHollysDolly · 08/05/2025 21:26

if I were you I’d skip a complaint to ofsted and write straight to the Secretary of State for Education. Disgraceful behaviour for them to lie about radishes. Sending hugs. I hope intensive therapy will help you and your child unpick this trauma.

GeorgianaM · 08/05/2025 21:27

Most ridiculous thing I’ve read on here and there are a lot of ridiculous things written!

CanelliniBeans · 08/05/2025 21:27

I am:

a) really surprised that a nursery would serve up radishes, as the hot, peppery taste can take a bit of getting used to - and toddlers/pre-nursery children are not renowned for their ability to embrace new foods that taste different 😂

and

b) absolutely bloody delighted to have discovered a new low-carb snack to try. Cheers for the link @HamiltonHarty!

Oh, and c) this is definitely a test that all nurseries are obliged to administer. It's known as the Radish Test. It's designed to check if you're parenting properly. If you don't raise an official complaint with the nursery, you'll fail. Best get onto that sharpish.

I wonder if there’s going to be a small surge in buying radishes tomorrow.

OP why would the nursery lie to you about whether she likes Radishes? Why would they be testing you? That is quite a high level of paranoia.

Teanandtoast · 08/05/2025 21:27

Trying to test you?! As if the staff have enough time to make up blizzare radish based lies to see if parents notice? Or what do you mean.
I work in early years and trying to remember everything incidental thing that 30 separate children have done is very tricky! It's obviously a mistake.
If my child was mega upset someone said they didn't like something they did like, I'd mention to teacher oh they did love radishes at home and leave it as that, no testing just people trying to look after little people and probably made an honest mistake.

londongirl12 · 08/05/2025 21:30

My god I really couldn’t care. Even my 7 year old comes home and says different things to the teachers sometimes.

smellyhouseelf · 08/05/2025 21:30

Report to ofsted immediately!

Shoes232 · 08/05/2025 21:30

You’ve got a long schooling road ahead of you. Good luck.

DancingDucks · 08/05/2025 21:31

No way is this a genuine post. Who in their right mind asks a forum 'what you mummies' would do about probably one of the most ridiculous non events I've ever read about on here. 🤣

SUPerSaver721 · 08/05/2025 21:32

There is some crazy people on this site. The op is one of them.

Matronic6 · 08/05/2025 21:32

My 3 year old recently demanded I buy a pack of beetroot she had it at Granny's house and it was so 'yummy.' She told me she had ate it all up and she loved it. I knew all of this was nonsense as I was in fact there. Whilst she looked at a lot and was interested in it and played with and did try one small piece she spat it out immediately and didn't touch it again.

Just because your toddler said she liked it doesn't mean she actually ate it and enjoyed it. I am sure the nursery workers have far more important things going on than to bother lying about something so bloody stupid.

BelfastBard · 08/05/2025 21:32

You’ve had a really extreme reaction to something that’s really, incredibly trivial. As for “testing” you… the mind boggles.

lifeonmars100 · 08/05/2025 21:34

Mooselooseinmyhoose · 08/05/2025 20:58

OP in what way do you think nursery is "testing" you. What is the test and to what aim?

how to identify and cook vegetables perhaps?

mrsconradfisher · 08/05/2025 21:34

Unless you are a radish farmer, I’d just forget the whole thing!

Lilactimes · 08/05/2025 21:34

Oh. My. God… seriously?

thismummyslife · 08/05/2025 21:34

I think she’s just mixed up with radishes and something else, you don’t butter a radish. I really wouldn’t give it a another thought to be honest!

Jk987 · 08/05/2025 21:35

🤣🤣🫜🫜🫜🫜🧈🧈🧈🧈

After more than 3 years in the same place, you’re questioning the nursery’s integrity because of a radish? 🤪

Lilactimes · 08/05/2025 21:35

mrsconradfisher · 08/05/2025 21:34

Unless you are a radish farmer, I’d just forget the whole thing!

Or if you’re a radish connoisseur you may be annoyed - that they’re being served with butter and not in a specific sauce?

KilkennyCats · 08/05/2025 21:35

It’s a joke post, isn’t it?
”Tell me, mummies” should have told you…
Hilarious.

ButteredRadishes · 08/05/2025 21:37

Crinkleybottomburger · 08/05/2025 21:25

I think this is a wind up. Nobody eats radish until they’re 33.

My DD5 flipping loves radishes and has forever!! Going to try buttered radishes now.

OP - are you always this dramatic?
