hard to watch very young kids addicted to screens

We have several young friends with toddlers, aged between 20 months and 3.5 years- and they all give kids their phone or tablet as soon as they start whining a bit or saying they are bored. Honestly, it is hard to watch how addicted they already are, and having massive tantrums if they don't get phone or tablet when requested.

How do you feel? Thanks for discussion.

a person has said on this thread that they give their 18 mth old a screen whilst they are changing their dirty nappy- it’s quite clear that some parents have no understanding of the drawbacks . We all do things to make our lives easier but you only realise sometimes the consequences of taking the easy route when your kids are older. I’ve regretted so many things around tech use as my kids have got older and people just aren’t understanding the change in tech availability over the last 10 years ,which is going to be even harder for parents of current babies.
