When did your DC reliably sleep through?

AllTheTeaInTown · 14/12/2023 21:21

Other than the occasional (once or twice a month) wake up. By sleep through I mean, reliably doing at least 9-10 hours!

If there were any tough phases of poor sleep at what ages did they occur and how many days/weeks did it go on for?

Just trying to gauge what is most usual though appreciate there will be a wide range as everyone’s different!

DD1 - 12 weeks
DD2 - 10 months

Pifful · 14/12/2023 21:24

DC1 5, DC2 9. Years that is, not months.

DaveWatts · 14/12/2023 21:25

Dd 2.5 yrs

Reliably??? 18 months although she did also sleep through from 10 weeks to 6 months. Weaning put a stop to that.

AlltheFs · 14/12/2023 21:26

Somewhere between 15 and 18 months, after a brutal sleep regression around 12 months.

In our NCT group (purely anecdotal obviously) it seemed to be related to walking. The earlier they walked, the earlier they slept through. DD was a late walker.

declutteringmymind · 14/12/2023 21:27

Child 1 8 weeks
Child 2 2.5 years

specialk9 · 14/12/2023 21:27

My eldest around age 6/7

My middle is 6 now and he still wakes 50% of the time. He will just get in to bed with us and go straight back to sleep . Takes him ages to fall asleep.

My youngest is 2.5y and he's the best out of the three so far but quite inconsistent. So sleeps through 3 days in a row, then will have a random one off night where he wakes every couple of hours - and by this I mean seems unsettled and will cry out in his sleep and need some comforting.

rileynexttime · 14/12/2023 21:29

5 years

Inyourwildestdreams · 14/12/2023 21:29

DS is 3 and has slept through maybe twice in his life 😂 so I guess we’re still waiting! Lol

RedToothBrush · 14/12/2023 21:29

Age 7.

Yes. Seven years old.

My brother was about 6 so I don't think it's unusual tbh.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 14/12/2023 21:29

About age 6-7 years for all 3 of mine. But I rarely sleep through the night either. To me sleeping through is a mythical thing we all aim for that's based on not a lot yet it dominates those early months as some kind of holy grail.

PremiumRaa · 14/12/2023 21:30

About age 3 to feel that she would reliably sleep through most of the time but we have still had regressions. Had a month of night wakings at 4.5. It's still not certain at 5.5.

linziere · 14/12/2023 21:30

By 18 months we were getting more full nights without wakes, she's 2 years and 3 months now and we still get the odd wakeup but usually it's because her dummy has fallen somewhere she can't reach so will go off quickly once she has it back.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 14/12/2023 21:30

Dc1 - about 3 years
dc2 - about 17 months
dc3 - about 5.5 years

Parker231 · 14/12/2023 21:32

Occasionally from eight weeks and reliably from four months. I was going back to work when DT’s were six months so we sleep trained before I went back.

justasking111 · 14/12/2023 21:33

DC1 six weeks

DC2. four months

DC3. Eight months

All three ebf. But the first two slept in the nursery from birth as was normal. Third one slept in with us for four months.

Felisenavedad · 14/12/2023 21:35

About 7 weeks. He's always slept solidly, unless ill, since.

Junibug · 14/12/2023 21:35

DD - 12 weeks

DS1 - 10 weeks

DS2 - only 4 weeks old so still waiting!

Christabelladaisy · 14/12/2023 21:36

Ds was 18 months. We did gentle sleep training and I wish I had done it before.

My DD is five months old and generally wakes once which is probably what I’d expect. I’m looking forward to her sleeping through!

InTheRainOnATrain · 14/12/2023 21:38

6 weeks for DC1 and 6 months for DC2. The youngest had a dummy so needed that replacing at 3am every night until he figured out how to do himself

Rocksonabeach · 14/12/2023 21:38

Number 1 child the day she was born - yes really. She was 10-6 and then at 6 weeks she went 7-7 but ate and drank like a hungry monster when awake and when she was awake she was really alert

Number 2 child didn’t sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time - specialists involved etc and home visits.

He’s 10 and he hasn’t yet normally up 2-3 times during the night drives me insane

Sodie · 14/12/2023 21:38

Ds1- 8 it was awful
Ds2- 8 weeks 7-7
Dd- Again age 8
Ds3- 4 weeks 7-7

justasking111 · 14/12/2023 21:39

Junibug · 14/12/2023 21:35

DD - 12 weeks

DS1 - 10 weeks

DS2 - only 4 weeks old so still waiting!

All adults now the eldest a lark, the other two owls.

I wonder if that makes a difference?

NameChangeAgain23 · 14/12/2023 21:39

DD slept through from 4 months but not reliably until 2 1/2. (Illness, teething, separation)
DS1 didn’t sleep through until 2 1/2 and slept through reliably from then.
DS2 14 months and not slept through and still wakes multiple times a night. Feel
about 407 but keep telling myself it’s not forever!

Freetodowhatiwant · 14/12/2023 21:39

With or without me in bed with them? DC1 was 10 and DC2 still won't sleep without me aged 8. Rod for my own back they said. Ho ho ho. But the little feckers just never slept without me!!!
