Can someone recommend a hoover that actually hoovers?!

As you can probably tell, I'm tired of buying expensive hoovers that dot. Last longer than a year or 2. We have a family and I need something robust that won't break the bank. Oh and also recommendations for steam mops much appreciated!

You need to clean the hoover, and change it’s filters/brushes regularly

Have a look at Sebo (they're German). I've had mine for a decade and it's still as good as new. I have this one:

Previously I went through several different Dysons - the Sebo is vastly superior. My Dad used it when he stayed once and I've never seen anyone get so excited over a vacuum cleaner. He was very impressed. 😂

We have a Henry and it does the job.

We have a Henry and he's perfect. We got the one with the boost button and his lead is long enough for me to plug him in downstairs and I can do the whole house (nearly) with him. I've replaced his filter and that's it in all the years I've had him.

Alargeoneplease89 · 27/09/2023 18:39

Dyson and they come with a generous warranty.

Yep this. Honestly I gave up trying to find a better alternative. There's a reason most tradies and schools use a Henry and it's because he's the only fucker who gets the job done.

ladymalfoy45 · 27/09/2023 18:41

Sebo.

VisionsOfSplendour · 27/09/2023 18:42

Assuming you mean vacuum cleaner rather than a model of hoover I agree with a Henry, probably not trendy but does the job and keeps on going

C1N1C · 27/09/2023 18:43

Shark. I love that you can practically dismantle the whole thing and clean it inside and out... basically do your own servicing!

LDNista · 27/09/2023 18:45

Fucking Dyson and Shark cost me a fortune and are so bloody temperamental. Henry all day everyday!

mauveiscurious · 27/09/2023 18:45

Miele game changer

TropicalTrama · 27/09/2023 18:47

Yup Henry. We’ve Dysons and Mieles but Henry is better.

Ihaveawonderfulpartner · 27/09/2023 18:48

Have had dysons for years and love them. Mine has a boost button for deep down in carpets and I regularly clean the filter which helps massively towards its suction.

Goldmember · 27/09/2023 18:50

We have a Sebo and a Henry. Both are really good. The Sebo is our main hoover and is excellent quality. The Henry comes out for really dirty jobs, he's been invaluable during our renovation.

LauderSyme · 27/09/2023 18:51

My Miele is nicely powerful and their "dog and cat" model is excellently effective at removing pet hair.

Goldmember · 27/09/2023 18:51

We've had Dysons in the past and wouldn't bother again.

boniobiscuit · 27/09/2023 18:51

Miele c3 - I love it and will never go back to bagless and/or cordless again.

MissConductUS · 27/09/2023 18:53

MIele. I've had their cheapest model for 15 years and it's brilliant. Nothing stops it. It's the German engineering.

Magicisuponus · 27/09/2023 18:55

Another vote for Miele C3. We also have the Dyson cordless for small jobs but the Miele is far superior to that.

Happygirl79 · 27/09/2023 18:56

I've had 2 Dyson vacuum cleaners in the past but they were not the best. I currently use a shark vacuum which does the job well and is a lot lighter too. Also probably 1/4 of the cost of a Dyson

SirChenjins · 27/09/2023 18:58

We’ve got a Shark and love it. I’ve used Henry’s in the past but much prefer an upright.

Noshowlomo · 27/09/2023 19:00

Had a cordless shark- pure shite. Got a Henry now and LOVE IT

marshmallowfinder · 27/09/2023 19:01

Miele is fabulous. Way better than Twat Henry. (Spends all its time flipping over onto its side at the slightest tug.) Miele is absolutely excellent. I'd never have anything else.

Noshowlomo · 27/09/2023 19:02

Yes I second a Miele as well. My mother is obsessed with hers

autienotnaughty · 27/09/2023 19:03

Henry is the best. Out hoovers shark and dyson
