Can someone recommend a hoover that actually hoovers?!

As you can probably tell, I'm tired of buying expensive hoovers that dot. Last longer than a year or 2. We have a family and I need something robust that won't break the bank. Oh and also recommendations for steam mops much appreciated!

Had a cordless shark- pure shite. Got a Henry now and LOVE IT

Same 👏👏👏

Ratfinkstinkypink · 27/09/2023 19:05

I'm going to go against the grain, I hated Henry, the little bastard had a mind of its own, didn't follow on nicely behind like it should and fell over at regular intervals. I loved my Miele Cat and Dog, did exactly what it should.

Another huge Henry fan here! We've had Dyson and Shark but Henry beats them all! He's also so cheeky Grin

Henry. I love Henry. Henry Henry Henry.

Got tired of being fucked around by all the rest.

Grandma had a sebo mind that lasted years and was great. Think Henry is a bit cheaper.

I agree! Manoeuvrability is dire. Our Henry doesn’t actually come when you pull it and can’t cope with an my sort of corner! It does suck well though…

Another Miele cat and dog fan here!

bellamountain · 27/09/2023 19:10

Henry really is the best little sucker but he just has a mind of his own and likes to fall over a lot. However, I hear there is an upright Henry now....!!!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 27/09/2023 19:13

Miele Cat & Dog - I'd never have any other kind of vacuum cleaner. It virtually sucks the carpets off the floor on it's most powerful setting.

MsChatterbox · 27/09/2023 19:15

Henry. I got one after ours broke when I considered how every business has one. It's the best hoover I've had!

iusedtohavechickens · 27/09/2023 19:15

Miele, my hoovers suction is just as powerful after 4 years as it was when I brought it, has four different suction levels carpet and hard floor settings and remote handle to turn it off.

BHRK · 27/09/2023 19:16

Henry. Had mine 6 years and it’s indestructible

nopuppiesallowed · 27/09/2023 19:20

I love my Dyson - though have to clean the filters regularly and it's a bit heavy. However, the after sales and advice line is brilliant. Our latest one had a fault which couldn't be dealt with and it was replaced quickly.

Blingstar · 27/09/2023 19:26

Miele all the way. Had mine for over a decade.

@LauderSyme I've been wondering about this cat and dog one, does it really work?

Namechangenamechanged · 27/09/2023 19:29

Henry all the way. Hardly any parts to go wrong, easy to take apart to clean, lead is incredibly long so can basically do the whole downstairs plus up the stairs off one plug socket and plenty of tools for stairs/dusting etc. He seems unbreakable and does a good job. I’ve also got the carpet washer which is similarly fab.

madmumofteens · 27/09/2023 19:30

Another vote for Miele or Miles as we call him 😊 great suction and and manoeuvrability the newer Henry model was crap imo a lot lighter kept falling over and wheels kept falling off and not as definitely powerful as my original Henry!

LadyEloise1 · 27/09/2023 19:30

Miele Cat and Dog.
And it's old.

AllWeWantToDo · 27/09/2023 19:33

I have a shark cordless and a shark lift away
When I can afford it I'm getting a henry

Littlefish · 27/09/2023 19:36

I have a G-Tec Air ram. It's excellent!

Its5656 · 27/09/2023 19:40

Another vote for Henry, I got one last year after our Dyson broke and I find it much better.

Darkflame · 27/09/2023 19:45

I got a green Henry pet 3 weeks ago after our Dyson karked it. ( thank f*ck as it was utter shite!) Henry has been fantastic! Cleans up the dog and cat hair, suction is brilliant and the upholstery attachment is an absolute game changer on the sofa. Plus he performed fantastically last week after the plasterer came and left a bit of a dusty mess. Highly recommend getting a Henry. Sure he's not perfect and needs a bit of a chivvy along when gettibg stuck in corners but he gets the job done and no BS! Grin

Notimefor · 27/09/2023 19:45

Henry

Margaritawithlime · 27/09/2023 19:47

MIELE C3 FOREVER excuse the shouting but I am very passionate about my vacuum cleaner😀

fluffiphlox · 27/09/2023 19:48

I’ve been married 38 years. We started off with an Electrolux which was hopeless. We have had two Miele vacs since then. The first one died after about 15 years and we’ve had the current one 18 years.

Wbeezer · 27/09/2023 19:49

I had a Miele for about ten years but unfortunately I killed it by hoovering up too much renovation muck and dust. It was great until then but I've just bought a Henry, so far so good, although it's not as powerful as the old one at work which dates from before the new regulations about motor size. I have a cordless Dyson which has been very disappointing ( the battery stopped charging and I didn't find the suction great).
I actually chose the Henry because I've found a local repair man who can service and fix them. He can no longer get affordable spare parts for Miele vacuums because of Brexit and the new Mieles wouldn't be as powerful as my old one anyway.
I like the long flex on Henry and also find I can get right under sofas and beds easily. He is quite heavy but the actual tube and head are really light.
I wish I could buy the car equivalent of Henry, solid, simple, cheap to fix and service, lasts for years ( maybe not with googly eyes).

Teddleshon · 27/09/2023 19:50

I have a cordless Dyson for when I want to quickly do a room but also a Henry for a proper clean. They're unbeatable imo.
