Am doing some birthday present shopping for DD who's going to be 2 this July - so, hit me with your favourite books!

Current favourites are Julia Donaldson, which we already have a vast array of - but looking for something that me and DH will enjoy too hopefully!

Were you a fan of Mr Men as a child? I've enjoyed the nostalgia of that with mine.

Anything by Jill Murphy e.g. A Piece of Cake.

PronounsBaby · 01/07/2023 20:03

Where my Teddy - Jez Alborough and the other one, which I can't remember the name of are fabulous and so fun to read. The rhythm is great. It's WAY better that stuck in the mud!

SquigglePigs · 01/07/2023 20:09

The Julia Donaldson's are popular for a reason but others we've loved (DD is 4 now) are:

10 little.... (Dinosaurs, robots etc)
10 seconds to bed little... (Dragon, dinosaur, fairy, unicorn etc)
There's a xxx in your book (Monster is great at that age, Dragon is cute, Unicorn is still good now not tried Alien)
Naughty Narwhal
Oi Frog
Little Raindrop
Elmer

Chasetherainblownfearsaway · 01/07/2023 20:23

Swimmy by Leo Lionni (he has many others but I think that's the best,).
Slinky Malinki is also good.

SnaccidentsHappen · 01/07/2023 20:24

Don't wake the bear hare

Giraffes can't dance

The gruffalo as child

Calm down Borris

TiggeryBear · 01/07/2023 20:25

StarsandStones · 01/07/2023 20:26

Tales from Acorn Wood. Julia Donaldson...
Other books from Axel Scheffler?
Lift the flap/music books from Usborne

Kayjay2018 · 01/07/2023 20:29

One surprising success in my house is Letters from Maisy.

Letters from Maisy amzn.eu/d/hi2Fvyj

Maisy goes on holiday and sends her friends postcards and gifts, which you take out of the envelope pages to read. She loves the last page where maisy has sent (insert name here) a letter and postcard.

SanFranBear · 01/07/2023 20:29

Ping by Chae Strathie... such a wonderful book and really gives you so many ways to say the word 'Ping' 😀 My two adored this and still do (aged 11 and 14!)

Hellohah · 01/07/2023 20:31

I miss kid books (DS is 18 next week)

You Choose is my absolute favourite

birdglasspen · 01/07/2023 20:37

The Noi books, The Storm Whale can’t remember the author. Richard Scarry books are great. Bumps rumpus dinosaurumpus and one about spooky ghosts are good. Farmer johns tractor. Anything by Christopher Emmet. Not always available new but a toddler won’t mind second hand books! Winnie the Witch. Little red engine, Bernard blathway has lots of books kids love. The Apple Tree Farm series with Poppy and Sam….not sure any adult will love them for long but kids do!

Ahwig · 01/07/2023 20:38

Tootles the taxi and other rhymes. My son loved the rhymes in this and used to join in with them.

MrsOosh77 · 01/07/2023 20:42

Burglar Bill and Cops and Robbers were favourites with us. I lived reading Cops and Robbers aloud- it’s almost song like!
