What was your child's first word?

And how old were they?

I think DS (21mo) just said 'book' !! He was holding one at the time and I'm sure I heard him say it

Mums DSS first word was 'barbecue' 😂😂 he just toddled to the kitchen, said it and went away again. Apparently it sounded more like a deep burp 😂

@Perfect28 I have been. He had a regression at 10mo and until Feb/Mar I hadn't heard a moan, noise or babble from him. Also no eye contact, clapping pointing, waving or responding to his name. When he was small he'd squeel the dogs name but stopped that too. Had an ENT referral from 13mo but only just had that app 6wk ago and they are perfect.
He just went silent. I might be clutching a bit at the 'book' last night.... but not giving up hope 🤞

"oh no" which really was said a lot for the next 6 months 😂

Rubycoola · 29/06/2023 21:16

Apart from Dadaaa it was blueberry. He said some words pretty clearly at about 1 year then stopped. Getting more words now at 2.5 but not that clearly!

On the long list for a hearing test...

I can only remember one of my children's as a long time ago. The one I remember was the embarassing one😳it was alcohol at just over one, it came out as 'al.. col' and he wouldn't stop saying it whilst pointing at everyone's drink. No we weren't alcoholics it was just that we had been on holiday and I kept saying 'no you can't have that it's daddy's, it's alcohol' as he kept trying to get hold of his dad's beer.😂

Dc1 " mum" 😃
Dc2 / dt1 : can't remember because she's a twin and the whole first 18 months is a blur. I have huge guilt and will have to make something up if she ever asks 😱
Dc3/ dt2 : " cup of tea " said as one word " cuppity?" With the question intonation making it seem an offer of a cuppa 🤣 ( I only remember this because it's on video )
