2 & 3 yr old around 7-7:30 depends how late I am making dinner

10 yr old in bed by 8:30 but can read until 9

carefullycourageous · 16/05/2022 20:31

I am sorry you are struggling. Mine are old now, but one thing I found was there was huge variety between them - so one of them at age 12 went about 1.5 hours earlier than another one at the same age!

How old is yours and what is the issue?

Personally I think the atmosphere matters more than the time.

Baby boy is 17 weeks, bath 8:30pm, bedtime 9pm/9:30pm xo

Ds1 age 11 goes up at 8pm, lights out 9pm, usually asleep by 9.30pm

Ds2 age 9 goes up around 7. 30pm, lights out 8.30pm, asleep before 9pm.

That's on school nights. Bit more leeway at the weekend.

GalactatingGoddess · 16/05/2022 20:35

20months. Bathtime 6.30. Story and cuddles till 7ish. Asleep by 7.30ish

Quornflakegirl · 16/05/2022 20:36

I have two 9 year olds, Sunday to Thursday they get into bed at 8 to read and lights out at 8:30. Friday lights out at 9pm and Saturday is 9:30.

autienotnaughty · 16/05/2022 20:37

6 years old. Bed 730, lights out 8pm.

dollface22 · 16/05/2022 20:38

Verbena87 · 16/05/2022 20:39

4 years old, start bedtime routine at 7 but lights out usually 7:30-45 ish and at the moment he takes bloody ages to drop off!

Noelsjumper · 16/05/2022 20:39

Almost 3 and goes down for 6.30pm these days as won't nap in the day and knackered by that point!

Used to be 7.30pm before all naps were dropped.

RandomQuest · 16/05/2022 20:40

Almost 5. Goes up to bed following a story about 7pm but can play quietly in her room as long as she likes, which is around 7.30pm, I check on her at 8 and have never once found her awake.

ReadyToMoveIt · 16/05/2022 20:40

Aged 8, 6 and 3, all in bed for 8pm

KarrotKake · 16/05/2022 20:42

It also depends on what time they need to get up.

Aparently mine go to bed really early.
11 yr old, in bed about 8.30, lights off around 9.
13 yr old (by a week) in bed about 9. Don't monitor lights out, but would comment if they were still on when I went to bed.

Both wake up around 6.30, whatever time they go to sleep.

DisgruntledPelican · 16/05/2022 20:44

2 years 3 months, 7pm.

OneCup · 16/05/2022 20:44

6 year old: anytime between 6.30 and 8.30pm depending on how tired she is. I would say it is normally around 7.30 though.

WarriorNewAgain · 16/05/2022 20:45

9 yrold seems to drop off anywhere between 8:30 and 9:30, usually in room between 8-8:30.

4 yr old has been creeping nearer 8 though aim to be in room reading story at 7:30. He's been sleeping in more now though

To me it's as much about how long they need. 9yr old seems to need 9-10 hours and 4 yr old seems to need 11

Frankcastlestalker · 16/05/2022 20:45

7 and 9. Lights out at 9pm. No idea when they actually fall asleep. Eldest can still be heard talking to himself at 10pm some nights.

DelurkingAJ · 16/05/2022 20:45

DS1 (9), in bed for 8, asleep by 8:05, wakes about 5:45 (whatever time he goes to bed, hence the fairly early, I think, bedtime). Clubs (cricket and Cubs) mean bed more like 8:30 two nights.

DS2 (6), in bed for 8, asleep any time up to about 10 (he lies there and sings, despite all entreaties to go the sleep), wakes about 7:45.

Mysteriousmoon · 16/05/2022 20:48

Mine is only 17 months and is still up. I really am completely at the end of my tether with him! I feel I need some support but I don’t know from where.

DD 15 weeks....
6:30pm - bath
7pm - bottle and cuddles
7:30pm - bed and asleep

ohidoliketobe · 16/05/2022 20:50

1 year old- up for 7, asleep (on a good night) for 7:30.
5 year old - up for 8, asleep for 8:30.
8 year old - up 8:30, asleep for 9.

So pretty much back to back and it drags some nights. We usually split it so one of us does the baby and the other tidies down stairs and sorts the older two out. Can be stressful if in on your own. But it's not forever, I tell myself they won't want stories and tucking up in a few years.

What does your daily routine look like (wake up time, meals and nap time), does he get plenty of exercise and how do you get him to sleep? Usually it’s a problem with one of those three things in neurotypical young children.

Mysteriousmoon · 16/05/2022 20:54

Is in nursery so follows routine there … I am worried it may be a sign of not being NT.

9yr old, goes to bedroom between 8pm and 8.30pm to read in bed, lights out at 9pm, wakes up between 6.30am and 7am.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 16/05/2022 20:55

Mine are 10 and 8. They start going to bed now between 7.30 and 8. 10 yo reads. 8 yo faffs. They're normally asleep by half 8/9. Weekends Friday and Saturday can be as early as 10 or late as 1am! Depending on what we're doing. Cards/films/games/camping
