Can’t play with sons because I’m the mum

DS1 and DS2 are still young but my husband keeps making continuous jokes to me about how I can’t play with them and how they won’t want to play with me when they are older because I am a ‘girl’. It is upsetting me. I’m being stupid aren’t I? Or maybe they really will want to play with only Daddy and I will be singled out the whole time and need to learn to live with that?

There are so many days I don't like DH & then I read something like OP's story & feel so relieved about problems I have.

DH & DSs like to show me off, anything I can do even if only half-arsed, they celebrate -- and they invite me along in fun stuff they do!!

Tell your DH to put a sock in it & proceed to have a lovely bond with your boys, OP.

Also my husband is awful at designing train tracks. My daughter always requested that I make them.

At least 9 times out of 10 times my boys would chose to play with me over their Dad. They're a lot closer to me than H. But really that's just the red herring, your 'D'H attitude to this is not okay at all.

They won’t want to play with you if they hear the implied message from dad that boys don’t play with mum. And they won’t grow up to be popular and well rounded either.

This is a marriage deal breaker.

@FeelingDizzy123

Both DS1 and DS2 are both very young still, so he is being generic about car games, ball games, indoor games, outdoor games… whatever boys want to play, games! “They won’t want to play with you because you are a girl and so don’t know how to play cars properly” and so on… random things like that being said very often and I’m just wondering if I should be preparing myself to be left out.

Oh good Lord. What century does he think we all live in? What an ignorant comment. 🌹

Oh what a twat. I'm a mum of two boys. My husband would never say shit like this to me 🙄🙄🙄🙄

This is crazy. A boy said to my DD at school she couldn't wear trousers because she's a girl and now she won't wear trousers. Your husband is a dickhead and I can't believe you're giving this the time of day
