What's people's honest opinions/views on smoking weed whilst being a parent? When the children are in bed in the evening and you know they won't wake until the early hours... Just interested to see what other people say about it.

Not before time, backoffice.

Angel2702 · 20/09/2021 08:48

I wouldn’t want my children around second hand cigarette smoke let alone anything else. The smell alone is incredibly anti social and gets into everything. Nothing worse than your kids going to school with uniform smelling of weed.

passionfruitpizza · 20/09/2021 08:53

Dont think its any different to alcohol. You shouldn't looking after kids on your own drunk or stoned but other than that i dont care. I'm waiting until mine are grown up but I'd definitely rather use it now particularly for pain relief when you're too nauseous to keep tablets down.

Angelina1972 · 20/09/2021 08:55

When smoked it stinks 🤢🤮

BiBabbles · 20/09/2021 09:27

I can assure you alcohol can make people very angry and violent. There are people in prison now for causing serious bodily harm and don't remember what they did because they were so drunk.

No actually, you can't, not from that evidence at least - just because someone was angry and violent while drunk doesn't mean the alcohol made them angry or violent - from knowing many violent drunks, they all had an angry, violent side while sober too. Alcohol just made them more likely to find it acceptable to act on it - that's what it does, it lower inhibitions and critical thinking skills, it a depressant , it's not a Mr Hyde potion altering personalities when you consume it. It's not going to make a pacifist violent. It usually takes years of overconsumption before there is enough damage to change personality.

Just because they can't remember means fuck all other than they drank enough for their brains to stop processing memories. Alcohol and many other drugs do that, as do many other things. Enough stress can do that.

It also doesn't change that people can be violent while high so the whole 'would you rather a violent alcoholic or sleepy pothead' is bullshit, which is what I was responding to. Neither automatically creates those moods.

It takes more than just getting drunk or high to make someone violent. It's not alcohol or pot that's responsible for that behaviour, it's the person taking it.

I don’t agree with it at all, but I don’t have more than one drink unless DD is being cared for by someone else either. Also it fucking stinks.

@Orangejuicemarathoner

Buying weed in the uk is supporting the worst, vile evil slade trade imaginable. Innocent children trafficked thousands of miles from home and worked to death, no proper nutrition, no medical care, no education.

No one buying cannabis in the uk can claim they care anything at all about any children or that they have any moral objection to any slave trade,

Agreed, although I do have a bit more time for those who are actively and openly working to campaign for the legalisation of cannabis and or access to ethically farmed supplies.

@danadas

Without going into too much detail, I cannot fathom how a parent can reconcile with themselves supporting an industry that puts so many other parents vulnerable children at risk. If they could see the damage that criminal grooming gangs do to these children you might not feel so chilled after your spliff.
Thank ypu. It is good to see so much awareness and responsible thinking in the thread.

It is also illegal, this drug consuming
