How many Easter eggs do you get your children ??

I have a 5 year old and is an only child and she always does so well as we come from a large family so will receive Easter eggs from both grandparents, aunties uncles etc
So this year as a single parent and a bit strapped for cash I'm thinking of getting my dd just 3 Easter eggs I would normally do a lot more and maybe a soft toy or a small toy. I feel bad but I think it's a waste of money and over exaggerated !
Just wondering what other parents do/or how many eggs they get ?

I've just realised I've never bought my kids an Easter egg. I think MIL gave them one when they were small (4-6 years old) if they happened to visit around Easter but they're not the sort of thing you'd bother to post.

Have I scarred my kids for life? They eat chocolate. We don't often go to supermarkets and they've never asked for an egg... Just not on our radar.

Beach11 · 19/03/2021 19:25

One egg each.

CinnamonStar · 19/03/2021 19:25

Everyone gets just one large and impressive-looking egg each, including DH and me.

Usual practice is then to take turns to share your egg around with everyone else, but to keep the sweets or whatever it comes with for yourself.

Other family members don't tend to give any chocolate eggs to my Dc, but might give a book or clothes.

One each. I genuinely thought that was what everyone did and am a bit gobsmacked by the number some people buy!

BurgundyBells · 19/03/2021 19:27

So many restrained children on mn whose small amount of Xmas or Easter chocolate lasts for months and dc that aren't all that bothered about them anyway. I never see the like in real life.

Am I the only parent with feral beasts who rip into their Easter chocolate and are happy to eat it all day?

RampantIvy · 19/03/2021 19:27

One. Of course. Why?

Mine happily eat their Easter egg in a day. The one egg that I buy them, I mean!

One (actually none now he is a Uni student and I've realised he doesn't really want chocolate treats anymore Grin).

Totally OTT to get more than one, when DS was younger we might do an Easter Egg Hunt in the garden as well with a few mini eggs ... but I don't know anyone who gives excessive numbers of Easter Eggs Confused.

Robin233 · 19/03/2021 19:30

One lol
One year between them they got 20
From various relatives.
Mind that was the exception not the rule.
We always said it's more cost effective ti buy a bar of chocolate though it's nice to have an Easter 🐣 Egg.

Battenburg1978 · 19/03/2021 19:31

1 egg each here too, DD4 chose a Lidl hen and a Lindt one for elder DSD 14. But then a pile of various smaller eggs for the garden egg hunt and probably a few chocolate bunnies/sheep/chicks of some kind each for the egg hunt too, so overall still a fair bit of chocolate!!!! The older is pretty much as excited for the egg hunt as the younger 😀 I’m considering a toy for DD, but struggling to think of an equivalent gift for DSD so might just leave it at the chocolate.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 19/03/2021 19:31

Just 1 each!!

CatsHairEverywhere · 19/03/2021 19:32

1 each, thought that was normal?

MondeoFan · 19/03/2021 19:34

One egg each and a small Easter egg hunt with tiny eggs
None from family or friends

DragonPoop · 19/03/2021 19:36

I’ve got DS one small buttons egg, a £1 blue Tesco chocolate bunny, and some small eggs purely to do an egg hunt in the garden. I may get him some small bags of haribo for the hunt as-well as he prefers sweets to chocolate but I’m still undecided. It’s more than enough

CatsHairEverywhere · 19/03/2021 19:37

This is a wind up surely?

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 19/03/2021 19:37

None. They get some from neighbours and family. The thought of small children eating even two eggs in a say makes me feel ill. They usually end up with a few and u let them eat one. The others either get eaten slowly or turned into fudge sauce for ice-cream.

indecisivewoman81 · 19/03/2021 19:37

We usually get them one egg each and a gift because the eggs never get eaten and we have a small kitchen with zero storage

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 19/03/2021 19:37

DD is getting one of the big kinder egg ones that has a toy in it and we'll get a pack of small eggs for an egg hunt, probably a pack of 4 chocolate onesie, then we have some plastic eggs that will have stickers and other tiny things in them.

MaryBoBary · 19/03/2021 19:38

Mine will get 1 big egg and then some creek eggs from the Easter bunny in the garden. It had never crossed my mind to get him more than 1, especially as he gets them from family too.

AlexaNeverListens · 19/03/2021 19:39

I've never bought my DC more than one egg. It wouldn't even occur to me to get them more than one?

Insertfunnyname · 19/03/2021 19:40

One big one and then lots of little ones for an egg hunt.

BurgundyBells · 19/03/2021 19:40

I love the faux shock and disingenuous confused faces on this thread Grin

Even if one small easter egg (or none) is the norm for you I don't believe that anyone is so naiive and detached that they actually would be unaware that some people go ott at Easter and buy loads, just like some go OTT on birthdays or Xmas.

I mean really, why? Why the fake confusion? 😂🙈 People are odd.

Lastfreakinglegs · 19/03/2021 19:41

1 large egg. More seems like. Gluttony and a recipe for diabetes

Parker231 · 19/03/2021 19:41

One - why would you buy more than one? It usually gets eaten in one day and then back to normal food.
