How many Easter eggs do you get your children ??

I have a 5 year old and is an only child and she always does so well as we come from a large family so will receive Easter eggs from both grandparents, aunties uncles etc
So this year as a single parent and a bit strapped for cash I'm thinking of getting my dd just 3 Easter eggs I would normally do a lot more and maybe a soft toy or a small toy. I feel bad but I think it's a waste of money and over exaggerated !
Just wondering what other parents do/or how many eggs they get ?

Well, I end up buying more than one because I inevitably crack at some point before Easter and eat it myself. But DS only gets one from us. His grandparents have already sent a chocolate sheep too.

One each
They often got one or two from family members

OverTheRainbow88 · 19/03/2021 17:54

Mine go on an egg hunt and find about 5 each- but they are like the tiny ones.

No relatives get them eggs. They are content and excited.

This year I’m thinking of getting a little toy too just because everything’s been rubbish for them.

Daisy829 · 19/03/2021 17:58

Medium Cadbury’s egg, aldi Easter bunny then I’ve got some small Aldi eggs to hide in the garden. They get from family too. I don’t know why Easter has become a massive thing these days.

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 19/03/2021 18:00

One. They are given it on Easter morning and feel sick by Easter afternoon.

littlemisslozza · 19/03/2021 18:00

One each and an egg hunt in the garden for little eggs (mini egg size ones). No need for more surely?

BertieBotts · 19/03/2021 18:01

One! Never heard of anyone giving their kids more than one. Of course they might get more from relatives.

Itsjustaride8w737 · 19/03/2021 18:02

One large egg. She gets plenty from grandparents etc.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 19/03/2021 18:02

@longhaulstress

Mumsnet is so different to my real life sometimes. I don't know anyone who buys their dc's just one (unless a baby)) I end up buying mine around 5/6 each then some smaller treats. I love it and most of the eggs only cost about £1.

Although with family and friends buying they can sometimes end up with around 15 each which is pretty excessive but hey I always help them out if they're struggling!

Exactly right!

Most normal people ime don't have the vapours at multiple Easter eggs, it's once a year, what's wrong with enjoying a bit of chocolate if your children want some. Only on MN is more than a whiff of anything the slightest bit sweet seen as something to be avoided like a plague Grin

Bubbinsmakesthree · 19/03/2021 18:03

One ‘proper’ Easter egg each + about 5 kinder-egg sized hollow eggs each to form an egg hunt

Quaagars · 19/03/2021 18:04

One each.
They get one off both sets of grandparents as well, and sometimes off a few aunties and uncles.
Any more than one each seems a bit much to me, everyone's different though.

LadyCatStark · 19/03/2021 18:04

One big one and a couple of packets of mini eggs/ Malteasers bunnies. He’ll also get a big one from my parents and a medium one from my sister and that’s it as DH’s family don’t bother 🙄.

OverTheRainbow88 · 19/03/2021 18:07

@longhaulstress

I don’t know any kids that get lots of eggs.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 19/03/2021 18:10

None. They get plenty of chocolate from grandparents.

Will buy them a book and a beanie boo, maybe a craft kit each. No more than £10 total each.

LondonSE · 19/03/2021 18:11

1 egg and a small bunny. Then some other treats from other family. And that's more than enough - we still have chocolate leftover from chrisrmas

Barton10 · 19/03/2021 18:11

One each no presents plus they get others from grandparents etc. I dont understand buying presents for Easter it’s not that long since Christmas!

RaphaTwat · 19/03/2021 18:11

I’ll be doing an Easter egg hunt for my dd so that’ll be a few little chocolates for her and I’ll also do her an Easter basket with the crafts, a creme egg and one Easter egg.

3 eggs is more than generous IMO.

fairydustandpixies · 19/03/2021 18:13

THREE Easter eggs???? Why???? Mine only had one each!

bluechameleon · 19/03/2021 18:13

One bigger egg/rabbit/other (DS2 is getting a sorting hat one this year) plus some little bits - bunny lollies, little chocolate chicks, small eggs etc for the hunt.

Tillytrotterisarotter · 19/03/2021 18:13

I normally get dc a small gift bag with a book, a large egg, a smaller egg and some bags of mini egg type things. We normally ration sweets and they are allowed one sweet treat per day so Easter really is a treat in our house.

LifesLittleDeciders · 19/03/2021 18:14

Just 3 Easter eggs?

Wait, what? Some people get their kids more than one Easter egg?

Surely it’s one Easter egg, maybe a gift and an egg hunt.

It’s the first Easter I’ll be buying for DD as she was only a few month old last year. But she’ll be getting a build-a-bear (wanted to get her one ages ago but felt like it needed to be for an occasion!) an Easter egg and some cheapy eggs to plant as a Easter egg hunt. - then subsequent years will be one egg and a few to ‘hunt’

LadyOfTheFlowers · 19/03/2021 18:15

Ah shit.
I've only ever got mine a large egg each (4 kids total) and it seems there should be books, soft toys, PlayStation gift cards etc too.

WhoAreYah · 19/03/2021 18:15

Just 1.

OzziePopPop · 19/03/2021 18:19

One large one each but they’re 10 & 14. They’d have had one or two small ones (buttons size) at 5 max.
