Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

Elisa?
Charlotta?

Just use Pippa.

P & Q works well for the twins. Plus, all the children each have their own initials which is nice.

alexdgr8 · 18/03/2021 21:38

out of the rest, i'd go for
Audrey.
Audrey Hepburn was so chic. and a good person.
i guess Quinn sounds different in america,; bit like Robin, always male here, Robin Hood, from Robert, but i believe used for girls in USA.
when you said quinn was your DM/GM's names, i assumed was their surname.

Reading this my thought was Pippa went best... then I read the rest! Don't make up a name! Pippa is a perfectly fine name. Call her Pippa. It goes with your other names.

tara66 · 18/03/2021 21:39

Yes - too much thinking up names!

twinmama2021 · 18/03/2021 21:46

@Bilquis

This cannot be a genuine post and none of those names can be the real names of the current kids. If they are all I can say is 'oh my Shock '
What an awful thing to comment about someone's children. I can only hope you would never say something so horrid to somebody in person. For what its worth, everyone else on this thread has either said something lovely, or said nothing at all, in reference to my three eldest's names. I'd have hoped you'd have had the decency to do the same. Very disappointed.

I've definitely known Quinn more as a girls name. And I've never heard of quim. It's lovely that it's both your grandmothers names.

I know you've ruled Eloise out but I do think it's lovely. As is Pippa.

Congratulations and best wishes for the birth of your twins Flowers

twinmama2021 · 18/03/2021 21:47

@SunshineLifeIsBest

Not Quinn!!!!
Thanks for your feedback! I didn't ask for/don't want feedback on the name Quinn. That one's a given. And, we've now settled on Audrey for twin B. Thanks!

My MIL was called Philistine, which I thought was a pretty unusual name for her time. Her nickname was Phil, which is horrible I think for a woman, but I guess Pippa would go well as a shortened version! I'm not overly keen on Pippa though as I know hundreds of dogs called it (sorry). However, I absolutely love the name Ophelia. I think your other children also have beautiful names. Good Luck!

COPPER3 · 18/03/2021 21:48

Just seen your message. I love Audrey!

Stovetopespresso · 18/03/2021 21:50

omg Pipilotta etc are much more nickname-y than Pippa imo. sorry it sounds like a parental made-up name to me!

Shinyflecks · 18/03/2021 21:50

A - Rafferty or Ralph

B - Suki or Tabby

saraclara · 18/03/2021 21:50

@Maggie900

Audrey and Pippa.

I would feel hard done by if I got saddled with Quinn and my sister got any of the three names suggested (sorry).

Yep. Jeeze. I know you said it's non-negotiable, OP, but I can barely type Quinn, never mind consider calling the name out in the park.
saraclara · 18/03/2021 21:53

Oops...I didn't see that there were a gazillion more pages when I posted! And that you're moving to the US where you'll get away with...the other name.

I love Audrey, by the way.

CatherinedeBourgh · 18/03/2021 21:53

Bear in mind that if you go with Audrey (lovely name) you will have two daughters with the same initials

Skyliner001 · 18/03/2021 21:54

😂😂

Mucklemore · 18/03/2021 21:55

Love Audrey.

I can't get over both grandmothers being called Quinn! Is it really common in the states then or just a huge coincidence? It's not a name I've really heard over here or on American telly.

Sockmonkeysloth · 18/03/2021 21:56

I have a question (and no opinion on your baby names, I’m sure you’ll be pleased to hear at this point!). How do you pick which baby has which name? Will it be first out getting Quinn?

twinmama2021 · 18/03/2021 21:57

@saraclara Just a reminder that the name you're telling me you hate so very much is the name that we've chosen for our beautiful baby daughter, so your comments are neither helpful nor necessary. We haven't asked for your feedback on her name so would appreciate if people could remember not to say things behind a computer screen that they wouldn't say in person :)) you came to this thread to comment on the Pippa variations, so let's stick to that. Feedback on our other children's names is unhelpful and really just unkind.

Penelope nn Nell/ Nelly

twinmama2021 · 18/03/2021 21:58

@saraclara
Also, if you know it's non-negotiable, why bother sharing that you so strongly dislike it? We won't be changing our minds so seems petty...

dear OP, i think you have been commendably patient and good-humoured through all this.
and i think you have chosen well.
just one thing, may be more of an issue in UK.
Quinn Catherine would probably be nicknamed Queenie here, as it sounds like what Prince William's wife will be, and probably in your DD's lifetime. but that's no bad thing. what's the other middle name. ?swap?

twinmama2021 · 18/03/2021 21:59

@Mucklemore

Love Audrey.

Yes it's a top 100 name in the US so quite common! According to this article, it's also a top 100 name in the UK for 2020! www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/london-life/most-popular-baby-names-2020-a4424656.html

I don't like Pippilotta...at all! I love Quinn...its originally a surname but has crossed over to first name. For a boy or a girl. Would you think of similar for Baby B...like Riley or Carey etc...

If I had to pick one of yours, I'd go for Eloise but I don't feel it goes with Quinn. Audrey, Pippa & Eloise all.seems v v feminine name ls to put with a more tomboyish name for twin girls. Sorry, not wanting to offend...just sayin'. Best of luck with babies..
