Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

@Jolie12345

Sounds like Chicaletta from Paw Patrol, I really don’t like it and I think it’s asking to be teased. I’m sorry. Audrey is beautiful
Thank you! That's the name we've chosen to go with so it's lovely to see people sharing that they love it too :))

Reminds me of papilloten, the flexible hair curlers.

Pippa is ok as it is

Or

Beatrice nn Bea
Felicity
Cassandra

Pippilotta is the first name of Pippi Longstocking. You probably know that, though.. Full name in the 1970ies films was: Pippilotta Delicatessa Windowshade Mackrelmint Ephraim's Daughter Longstocking!" So here are a few more to choose from ;)
But Pippi is "pee" in German and a few other languages.. so Pippa is good, Pippi a bit more complex if she ever wants to travel outside of Brexit Britain ;) A little girl I know is called Carlotta. Maybe this is an alternative?

Lunde · 18/03/2021 21:07

Pippi Longstocking's name is Pippilotta shortened to Pippi!

SunshineLifeIsBest · 18/03/2021 21:08

Eloise is fab!

AudTheDeepMinded · 18/03/2021 21:08

Well, Audrey is obviously a fabulous name.

babbaloushka · 18/03/2021 21:08

I like Ophelia nn Pippa, you could easily make that happen, people use far more outlandish nicknames. I also really like Audrey, it reminds of the song.

dontdillydallytoolong · 18/03/2021 21:08

Please don’t!! Pippa is a lovely name, but Pippalotta 🤣🤣🤣

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 18/03/2021 21:09

At this point OP you should just set up some selections for people to choose from.

a - Isn't Quinn a boy's name?
b - QUIM! Ha ha! SAUSAGE! VAGINA!
c - Insert your criticism of the name Pippalotta here
d - Pippilotta is the first name of Pippi Longstocking
e - Cancel the cheque
f - I actually read the thread and have something to add

SunshineLifeIsBest · 18/03/2021 21:11

Not Quinn!!!!

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 18/03/2021 21:12

I'm always surprised when people suggest Ophelia because it always makes me think " Ophelia tits"

Bilquis · 18/03/2021 21:14

This cannot be a genuine post and none of those names can be the real names of the current kids. If they are all I can say is 'oh my Shock '

PaddingtonsSister · 18/03/2021 21:15

Quinn and pippalotta Oh my those poor kids will get some stick at school

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 18/03/2021 21:16

And Quinn is the name of the cheerleader who gets pregnant to the football player in Glee.

Coconuttts · 18/03/2021 21:17

Call them Pippa, it will be shortened to Pip anyway, and both are nice!

TatianaBis · 18/03/2021 21:17

I have to agree Quinn doesn’t go with the others at all, although I actually like it as a name and think it works perfectly well in the US (where they’re not au fait with 18c English slang).

So I would use it as a middle name, and chose another classic in line with your other children’s names.

Jalfreziqueen · 18/03/2021 21:19

There is no easy way to say this - Pippalotta and Pippawhatever are just plain ridiculous 🤣 please be kind and pick something even semi normal. Audrey, Eloise and Pippa are ok, please do the right thing and pick one 🙏

Noodella18 · 18/03/2021 21:19

If you're looking for old fashioned but cute names, how about Betty? Betty with an American accent is just the cutest!

JM10 · 18/03/2021 21:21

I know you've made your mind up now op and I think you've been very polite with people going on and on about how they think you've chosen wrong.

I love Quinn, I would think girl not boy and I wouldn't think quim even though I do see people say that on here whenever the name is mentioned. To be honest, until it was said in Avengers of never heard the word quim and I'm sure many other people won't have either.

I liked Ophelia and Quinn and I think Ophelia for Pippa would have been good.

Also, Quinn the twin is not going to be an issue. I know several sets of twins and I have never ever referred to any of those twins as X the twin. I always use just their name, both names if I'm talking about both, or the twins, but even that is very rare. I think it's a bit rude for people to focus on the fact they are a twin, as if it's their defining feature.

RosesAndHellebores · 18/03/2021 21:23

@JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority - gosh what an observation about Ophelia. I just think of her tragic end in Hamlet and Millais' pre-raphaelite interpretation. Such a beautiful painting.

LegallyBronde · 18/03/2021 21:28

I like Quinn OP. What about Bree?

alexdgr8 · 18/03/2021 21:29

yes that is definitely a ridiculous name.
Ophelia or Josephine are fine, but isn't Ophelia a tragic figure ?
why do people want to control what the nickname, if any will be.
when i was at school these just emerged organically, or not.
never heard of parents deciding it. they've already chosen the name, let the child and his/her pals have some input, as to nicknames.
but i think you do well to ask, and wish to avoid ridiculous names.
