Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

Pippilotta or Pippalotta is not just awful but cruel. Bullying is never acceptable but this would be an open invitation. Even without it, a lifetime of having to correct or explain spelling.

Eloise of the other two I'd prefer.

Quinn and Audrey work well together - I also love the name Audra

Penelope could be Pippa as could Phyllida or Paulina

We've settled on Audrey for twin B. Thanks!

Isn't it the full first name of Pippi Longstocking? I don't think it really exists as a name in England, and might therefore appear odd to others.

Quinn was very much an American boy name until about 2010 (that was my instinct so I checked--it was roughly twice as popular for boys than girls til around 2012). I would consider it unisex rather than girly, though it's certainly more popular now amongst girls. I always think of the cartoon Daria when I hear it, but if it's a family name and you love it, I don't think it'll stand out in any bad way, and certainly not in Manhattan.

OP, if you love Maude, go with Maude. Dakota Johnson's sex toy range isn't going to blow up (I'd actually never heard of it, and I'm in the States). And what will you do if another celebrity starts a sex toy range called Aubrey or Quinn?

Personally I'd go with Maude over Aubrey. The latter was really popular in the early 2010s and is often a bit precious over here.

But they are all much, much better than Pippilotta.

(I have a second-cousin Penelope known as Pippa or Pips to her family. It's another option.)

PantherPantherus · 18/03/2021 20:55

I've seen lots of references to sausages

That's because in the UK Sausage and Quim go together.

PantherPantherus · 18/03/2021 20:56

What about Harriet-Megan?

usedandabusedx1000 · 18/03/2021 20:56

I’m going to echo what others said about the made up names 🤦🏻‍♀️

Based on your other suggestions, what about Aubrey? I think it sounds a bit more modern than Audrey and goes with Quinn (which I love by the way)

We've picked Audrey over Aubrey! I think we're set now on Audrey & Quinn but Maude is very pretty and was definitely a strong contender until a few months ago

Both of your Grandmothers are called Quin?

Luckily in the US, nobody makes that reference to Quinn :)

Please no Pippalotta! And look up what Pippa means in Italian :D

Justanotherdragact · 18/03/2021 20:59

QUIM.

We can't have Margot as we have a Hugo and they sound too similar.

We're also set in stone on Quinn and definitely won't be changing. Thank you for your feedback though! Very much appreciated.

Or Clarry (from Clarissa) and Quinn

We moved past Pippilotta a long time ago and have settled on Audrey & Quinn. I'd turn off commenting on this thread if I could but I don't seem to be able to so I'll just have to hope that people read the full thread before commenting :)

isn't Quinn a boys name?

Jolie12345 · 18/03/2021 21:02

Sounds like Chicaletta from Paw Patrol, I really don’t like it and I think it’s asking to be teased. I’m sorry. Audrey is beautiful

Indeed! It's been interesting to see everyone adamantly commenting on Quinn, despite the fact that we've decided on her name and have been referring to her as such since we found out the twins were girls. I'd be disappointed if people commented on our other kids names, or on my name, so it's been interesting to see people insist on commenting on Quinn's! I can only assume (and hope!) that it's because she hasn't been born yet.
