Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

This has got to be a joke 😂😂 Just go for Pippa if you like it. Not my taste but each to their own.

I do feel the op may be writing in jest...
I have the same feeling... Grin

Eloise & Pippa are lovely, big no to Quinn, sorry I know that was not what you were asking but no

Yes, OP, Audrey is having a comeback on the UK. Along with names like Iris, Verity, Ottilie, Maud, Margot, Agatha, Joan/ie.

Brenda and Maureen are very unlikely to have a comeback... I think!

3AndStopping · 18/03/2021 20:21

I think Quinn is really cool & Pippa is really pretty. I also think they go well with your other names, which are all also lovely. Audrey is pretty popular (near me?) in the UK so for that reason I’d choose Pippa. I think it’s a good stand alone name.

Honestly OP, you have had to name 5 children & have picked some really lovely names & you’re still getting grief 😂

No one in there right mind is going to go Quinn? Quim! Fanny!

Pippa? Blow iob!

Aghast. Only on bloody mumsnet...

Lonestar123 · 18/03/2021 20:22

Audrey ❤️

CovidHalloween · 18/03/2021 20:24

@twinmama2021 you say you most Americans will disagree with my/our opinion saying that the names you picked are so popular in America - top 100, that’s great, so why come on a British forum and ask our opinion on baby names when you don’t really appreciate our opinion because they will be raised in the US? You probably should have gone to an American parenting form and asked them, seeing as you will raise them there.

crimsonlake · 18/03/2021 20:25

No idea why siblings names have to match? As for Quinn, I agree with BMidreams.

Thanks! We've already settled on Quinn and absolutely love it so won't be changing our minds :)

Yes, in hindsight she probably should have done that.

But she was originally asking about a name that would have been unusual in either country (and has now decided against - thanks to this thread).

I'm sorry but I can't get my head around Quinn the twin...

It sounds like it must be a joke.

I love Iris but we have a dog named Iris. Also loved Ottilie but it doesn't sound as darling in an American accent, and we'll be moving back to New York soon enough. Maude... was our chosen name until Dakota Johnson named her line of vibrators Maude. Margot sounds too similar to Hugo, who is our (almost) two year old.

Beautiful names though!!

And the only Quinn I know is a boy formally called Quinley... Who isn't a twin.

LesleyA · 18/03/2021 20:28

Sorry to sound crude but I remember someone talking about some movie and some girl was referred to as alottavagina. Not sure if that’s a movie very few have watched but if it is well...
Love your kids names, Quinn is beautiful
Quinn and Fee
Quinn and Charlotte
.... and Juliet
Penelope is beautiful for Pippa
Bit concerning about props
Quinn and Sienna
Quinn and Lily

3AndStopping · 18/03/2021 20:28

@CovidHalloween OP hasn’t said she doesn’t appreciate opinions but some people have just been rude frankly, especially when commenting on the name OP hasn’t even asked for input on & that her future daughter will definitely be called.

Seeing as we'll be here for the next three years, it's been interesting to see various opinions.
Also, we came here looking for opinions on the Pippa variations, not on Quinn.
Thanks for your feedback!

Erm, no. Sounds like you're adding 'lotta' to the end to make it quirky. When in fact Pippa is fine as it is.

MrsExpo · 18/03/2021 20:29

Seeing as you did ask .... yes, utterly ridiculous. I wouldn’t use Audrey either as you already have an “a” initial.

3AndStopping · 18/03/2021 20:30

@LesleyA I think Alottavagina was in Austin powers 😂

Sorry you feel that way. We're naming our kids as individuals, not as a two-for-one deal. The majority of the people they'll meet over the course of their lives won't know that they're twins. Only their friends and family will. So, we've picked names that are meaningful to us and are happy with what we've chosen :)

In the US, where we're from/will be returning to soon, Pippa isn't considered a full name. So much so that it hasn't ever been in the top 1000, so the social security administration (where births are registered) doesn't even have any data on it!

Didn't know about the Maude sex toy thing that's weird and I'm sure most people wouldn't have a clue either. Is it a thing giving sex toys a name?

twinmama2021 · 18/03/2021 20:33

@23PissOffAvenueWF

We posted on nameberry US as well :)

Posted here to get opinions on the Pippa variations but people have taken to commenting on Quinn, too!

We've settled on Audrey & Quinn now and are delighted with our choices and super excited to meet the girls in a few weeks!
