And where do you live? Looking for a nursery for my to-be 11 month old in the suburbs of London and not really sure of the going rate. Thanks 😊

Surely the costs of commuting backwards and forwards to Yorkshire every day are going to make the nurseries way more expensive than using a nursery in London where the OP lives Confused

It's about £100 a day for us (we pay monthly). Central London. It's a very naice nursery, small classes and a high ratio of staff to children. They also treat the staff very well. For that, we get food (lunch, tea plus snacks) and all activities (not that there are many at the moment). We have to provide nappies and wipes which I think is standard.

£62 for an under-two; includes 3 meals, 2 snacks, extra activities like Hartbeeps, but not nappies or wipes. SE London zone 3.

... I don’t think anyone is actually suggesting the OP does this! OP asked how much people pay for nursery, people are answering that question. Obviously OP will be choosing a nursery in London. Are you being deliberately obtuse?
Sillybilly35 · 26/01/2021 20:15

£28 south yorkshire this includes 3 meals, snacks, nappies and wipes. Fantastic nursery rated outstanding also has a huge waiting list but well worth it.

I'm dying at the people paying in the £20s 🤯 That's it I'm up and moving 😆

The variation is really interesting even within the same area!

A follow up: how long before your child started nursery did you reserve their place? Feeling a bit on the back foot here!

I went back to work in September 2019, reserved her place in April 2019. I enquired at another nursery who wouldn’t have had space until May 2020 they said 🤯
Hangingtrousers · 26/01/2021 20:26

I registered at 14 weeks pregnant. South London and there was a list at the nursery I wanted.

Aimee1987 · 26/01/2021 20:27

We put DS name down in Jan or Feb to start in September. They weren't able to offer us the days that we wanted for the first few months until some of the existing babies moved up to the next class. Even then, we had to go for our second choice of days.
Aimee1987 · 26/01/2021 20:31

I put my childs name down in the nursery I wanted when i was 5 weeks pregnant. He started just after his 1st birthday.
I know somone else who could only get 3 days a week even though the name was down from the point she found out she was pregnant.

hoppyr · 26/01/2021 20:31

£52 East Midlands

NerrSnerr · 26/01/2021 20:33

We pay £47 in Gloucestershire. How early you book your place depends on the nursery. With my youngest I had to reserve my place when pregnant as it was massively oversubscribed.

My HV told me to put my child’s name down at 2 wks old- she wasn’t going to start nursery until 18months. I put her name down 3 months before she started it was fine.
AllTheCakes · 26/01/2021 20:34

£69 south east. Dreading having to pay two sets of full time fees if we have another.

Pay monthly but works out as £75 a day. I registered when I was 21 week's pregnant. Wanted space when daughter was 10 months as had to return back to work. There was no availability until she was 15 months. So for the good ones you need to register on time. Area is north London zone 5

wanderlove · 26/01/2021 20:38

Childminder £28 per day. Can go in between 7am and 6pm. Everything provided except nappies. I can't believe people pay £87 a day. Bloody hell.

meltedgalaxy · 26/01/2021 20:39

£43 8am-6pm

meltedgalaxy · 26/01/2021 20:39

Ohh, north west

zzzebra · 26/01/2021 20:39

£65 a day including food, but not nappies, wipes or formula.
Nursery just outside of London, next to a station that gets you into the city in under 45minutes. The going rate around here is £65-£75 a day for under 2s.

wanderlove · 26/01/2021 20:39

Oh and North East. Started looking a few months before I went back to work. Some had spaces abs some didn't
