And where do you live? Looking for a nursery for my to-be 11 month old in the suburbs of London and not really sure of the going rate. Thanks 😊

£35 a day ( West Lancashire)

@Tucancrossing

Okayyyy think I might have left it a bit late. I need a place for late August... hadn't even crossed my mind to think about nurseries until now 🙈 HUGE FAIL.

Looks like I'll be taking whatever I can get or he'll be going to a childminder 😆

I don't think that's a bad time to need a place for - some nurseries, like the one DS goes to, operate aligned to school years so you get a lot of movement in Sept when a class goes off to primary school and you have a whole new cohort coming in. Being able to start in September definitely helped us get a place; one or two open up during the year generally but that's it. Obviously other nurseries will be very different and I appreciate they don't all run to school terms/years.

We registered him at 13 weeks pregnant as we knew I was only taking 6 months mat leave. He is already registered for his private pre-prep to start this Sept too. Here (SE) a year in advance is standard for the really good places, but the worse ones have availability immediately.

Zone 6 SE London.
£65 per day inc. food. £70 for under 2s. Provide own nappies, wipes, suncream.
They're open 8am-6pm.
Looked at nurseries about 6 months before I wanted dd to attend. Quite a few didn't have any places.

God you lot need to get up north £35 a day! And I thought that was expensive haha!

You are presuming good CMs in your area aren't booked up as well.
doadeer · 26/01/2021 22:28

It's about £80 per day in north London where I live

sfttf · 26/01/2021 22:38

£500

JellyBabiesFan · 26/01/2021 22:39

£47 upt' norf

JellyBabiesFan · 26/01/2021 22:40

£500

What?

Do they give you a free bar of silver each day as a going home present?

sfttf · 26/01/2021 22:42

@JellyBabiesFan you seem triggered

Mincepiesallyearround · 26/01/2021 22:44

Gosh some of these London prices are eye watering (and I’m in London). Ours is £57 a day and we just supply nappies and sun cream. But for a few months by son was at an extortionate nursery in a kind of nappy valley area - they used to do art appreciation with the babies (an arty person would come to the nursery each week), always made me chuckle these tiny kids looking at Monet etc. Maybe that’s why it was so expensive!

SurreyMumOfOne · 26/01/2021 22:46

Thanks @sfttf you've cheered me up no end. My £84/day now looks like a bargain and I'm having a fine time imagining what you get for £500 day: meals from Claridges? Nappies by Prada?

This is so outing but DS has a four course lunch every day at nursery. I think that explains a large part of the cost 😂
JellyBabiesFan · 26/01/2021 22:48

@sfttf

I dont even know what that means so cannot confirm either way.

sfttf · 26/01/2021 22:51

DD gets top end meals plus Dh is a high earner he does not mind

Shelby30 · 26/01/2021 22:52

£54 per day, central Scotland. London I imagine will be a lot more expensive!

sfttf · 26/01/2021 22:52

Always sad to see peasant who can only pay 100 per day. Is that even legal

springdale1 · 26/01/2021 22:54

£69.50 in the South West. Have to provide food, nappies, etc... Plus extra for ballet lessons and uniform. I thought it was a good price but I now realise it is not 😂

AnnaSW1 · 26/01/2021 22:57

I think ours is now between £80-90 per day (London) and I have two there. I really should keep track!

AnnaSW1 · 26/01/2021 22:58

And we actually only have them there from 9:30-4:30. But it's open 8-6.

AnnaSW1 · 26/01/2021 23:00

I reserved their place when they were less than a week old. They started at 16 months.

SoundWithoutAName · 26/01/2021 23:03

Just under £47 per day, including breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks. Central Scotland

DfEisashambles · 26/01/2021 23:06

Cost of living in London - rents etc are higher so it makes senses fees are higher in order for nursery workers to make a living really.

SmednotaSmoo · 26/01/2021 23:12

£56 a day, 7am-7pm, Hampshire.,
