How much do you drink honestly?

Interested to hear how much people drink being honest.
I have been having 4 bottles of wine a week during the Christmas period and run up.
Prior to that I will have 2/3 glasses of wine 4/5 times a week.

OP posts:

Usually a bottle of wine a week over the weekend. Over Christmas has been more.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 01/01/2021 19:44

Nothing. Last time I had a drink was Feb 2020 .

Teacaketotty · 01/01/2021 19:44

Same as PP, one bottle wine over the whole weekend usually. DH doesn’t drink.

I’ve had a little more over Xmas but not much. I couldn’t function on 4 bottles a week!

Teetotal, it'll be 4 years in a few weeks.

2020newmum · 01/01/2021 19:46

Very similar amounts to you OP. I know I need to cut down as it’s sapping my energy and I don’t sleep well, but I struggle not to drink in the evenings - it’s my way of relaxing after a full on day with DS.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 01/01/2021 19:46

Actually that's a lie. I had 2 glasses of prosecco at Christmas.

NoNameIdeas · 01/01/2021 19:47

Honestly, pretty much nothing! Currently breastfeeding a 2 week old but even before I was pregnant I only drank on very rare occasions and even then only 1 glass of something. No real reason for not drinking though, just not for me.

Chickydoo · 01/01/2021 19:48

I usually have a G&T 4 or 5 evenings a week.
I might have a glass of wine (sometimes 2) instead of the G&T
In the summer I like a cold beer.
I am going to do dry Jan for a bit of a re-set/detox.

Abouttimemum · 01/01/2021 19:48

I don’t drink in the house generally, had a couple of mulled wines over Xmas. I drink socially if I go out (Pre covid) but I’ve never been fussed about alcohol.
DH has two bottles of wine a week, usually one on a weekend and another midweek. He probably had an extra one or two over the last couple of weeks.

olderthanyouthink · 01/01/2021 19:50

Nothing, I've played beer pong once and that was the most I'd ever stick and I really don't get it. Oh and my nan gave me too much wine before and it made me very sleepy... what's the point of this expensive liquid?

F0M0 · 01/01/2021 19:50

I'm T-Total. I don't like it and it doesn't like me.

Cotswoldmama · 01/01/2021 19:51

Hardly ever, I will if our or eating at someone else's house but rarely at home. I drink a bit more in the summer as I'm up and more awake for longer. I usually buy a box of wine as it lasts 6 weeks without tasting funny and I don't usually get through it! I feel it's too wasteful for me to buy a bottle as I'll throw half of it away!

shiningstar2 · 01/01/2021 19:51

I have a g and t or a glass of wine almost every night. Lately I've been making an effort not to have a drink at all at least 2 nights a week. I think unit wise that is ok when I stick to the two free nights a week.

I'm aware though that this is only ok so long as the g and t doesn't become a very large one or the glass of wine becomes 2. This does sometimes happen, especially during lockdown so I'm aiming at 3 free nights at least from today.

LikeTheOceansWeRise · 01/01/2021 19:51

Same as you OP. I've got into a bad habit with it, but after a day looking after a wee one I just want to sit under a blanket and guzzle wine!

Suzi888 · 01/01/2021 19:51

A few bottles of wine a week usually. I think we’ve drunk most days throughout December. Having a detox now and really need to change our drinking. With the drink goes the cheese and crackers and we both feel like blobs. Sad

Timmytimeout · 01/01/2021 19:53

Nothing. After being pregnant or breastfeeding for the last 6 years whenever I try it now I get very sick. I had a thimbleful of wine over Xmas and it made me feel very very unwell, almost like an allergic reaction.

PistolKnight · 01/01/2021 19:53

Nothing

beela · 01/01/2021 19:53

Pretty similar to @shiningstar2.

ArtemisBean · 01/01/2021 19:54

Pregnant at the moment so Seedlip all the way this year, but normally I'd have a g&t every other day over the Christmas week, and maybe a prosecco on NYE.

HitsAndMrs · 01/01/2021 19:54

These threads never work. You won't get a straight answer because those who drink don't want to tell you but those who are tee total love to tell you they don't drink.

If you don't drink anything it's not really applicable to the question!

I usuly drink 2 bottles over the weekend but nothing at the moment as pregnant.

Sstarlight · 01/01/2021 19:54

Far too much, probably 3 bottles a week.

joeysapple · 01/01/2021 19:55

Normal week maybe 2 gins a week. It normally just makes me sleepy.

WelcomeToTierFive · 01/01/2021 19:55

@WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo

Nothing. Last time I had a drink was Feb 2020 .
Same here
SandysMam · 01/01/2021 19:56

Teetotal. I stopped drinking 5 years ago and haven’t looked back since. I honestly look younger than a lot of my friends and despite being middle aged don’t have the tummy fat some do. I also don’t miss the beer fear of wondering what I said or did when drunk, the hangovers or mid week lethargy. I have saved a fortune in not only drink but cab fees etc. I never make a thing out of it, and still enjoy social events. The first year was the hardest but quitting alcohol (and I didn’t drink as much as you) was the best thing I ever did. Not trying to be smug, but if you are posting this you might be looking for a change and if you need any motivation, I can honestly highly recommend it. Your body and brain will really thank you for it.

sunshineandshowers40 · 01/01/2021 19:56

Very similar to you OP. I am doing dry January and I'm hoping that will give me the reset I need.
