@Strawberries4days he doesn't have a set schedule, his naps can be half an hour but sometimes 1.5 hours.

We don't change anything about the room during the day, he prefers his daytime naps with any sort of background noise.

Strawberries4days · 03/01/2021 13:27

@Sls668 ahh me too! I was googling about naps and some people have a schedule set times, which I don't know how they do it! She'll be 11 weeks on Wednesday which is crazy how much time flies!

@1990shopefulftm yeah silent rooms never work imo. We would turn down the TV a bit if she naps in the living room but we don't have a TV in the bedroom so white noise kinda helps from Spotify, even if it does annoy me😂 can't stand water sounds!

Mc3209 · 03/01/2021 13:33

@ChampooPapi that's a very good way of thinking it. I will need to make a similar deal with my DH. Will have a listen to that episode ☺️

@Strawberries4days we are just about setting into a resemblance of a routine, but have good days and bad days. Daytime naps, if they happen, are in normal day environment with normal background noises to teach him the difference between day and night. I find that putting him in a sling when he is tired gets him off to sleep, and then I transfer into Moses basket after about 20mins.

@Strawberries4days we have no nap schedule either, Paige is 11weeks. We are out most days walking, so depending on terrain she will nap in the Pram, car, or at home just falls asleep when she is tired. Sometimes this is for like 10-30mins, but in the afternoon she will usually have 2-4hours. Only thing we stick to is bedtime, she goes down between 8.30-9.30 and then wakes anytime between 7.30-9.00am. Would love an earlier bedtime so I can have some me time in the evenings (would love to shave my legs), but will settle at the fact she sleeps through for now.

We are teething too. Didn’t quite believe it until the GP at her checkup pointed it out, just thought she was dribbling and wanting to eat everything.

1990shopefulftm · 03/01/2021 17:20

@Strawberries4days we have a Ewan the dream sheep for white noise but it doesn't seem to do anything for him, however rain sounds on youtube sometimes work.

Got DS' 8 week vaccines on tuesday, as he had a cannula on the neonatal unit, i m not worried about him having the injections but not sure if he's going to swallow the rotavirus one easily as sometimes he likes to spit out his gripe water or dentinox.

Mc3209 · 03/01/2021 18:41

@1990shopefulftm Rafa is a spitter too, he managed to spit out some of the rotavirus vaccine and paracetamol that followed, but some must have gone down as the nappies were shocking for few days afterwards..
I find gently blowing on his face makes him swallow whatever it is I am trying to get into him, but obviously that doesn't work in the immunisation clinic with facemasks on.

@DressingGown87 I put Rafa in the bouncer and take him into the bathroom with me when showering. That's the only way I can have a long-ish shower and maintain some sort of beauty routine going!

1990shopefulftm · 03/01/2021 19:01

@Mc3209 I ll try blowing on his face and give him the calpol in the car afterwards instead of in the GP surgery itself I think.

DressingGown87 · 03/01/2021 21:17

@1990shopefulftm when they did paiges they said they rub it on the gums and it absorbs into her system. They also give slightly more, as they know babies will spit some out. They used her dummy to get her to suck too, so take that if he has one. They also said to give the Calpol before they go in, I forgot so did it afterwards. Hope they go ok. We are on the booster dose this week.

@Mc3209 I use the bouncer chair in the bathroom too, but usually only get 15 mins max! Which is a hair wash and one leg 😂 she also hates the hairdryer. I’m just glad it’s winter and I’m single! 🙈

1990shopefulftm · 03/01/2021 21:28

@DressingGown87 he s not accepted his dummy as well recently but will take it incase it helps.

I weighed DS whilst holding him on the scales today, he's almost 15lbs. I m hoping with his big appetite that he ll like food when he hits 6 months as he can sometimes finish his 7oz bottle already.

GhostWorld · 03/01/2021 23:37

Those using dummys and breastfeeding: I'm thinking of introducing a dummy because there are times when it's clear he's just sucking for comfort but the last week or so he's been feeding a lot and I think its to up my supply for a growth spurt.. how do I know I'm not getting in the way of this sort of tactical sucking by using a dummy?

Also, when using a dummy how do you know which times to use it, might sound stupid but would baby spit it out if they were hungry?

Sls668 · 04/01/2021 09:42

@GhostWorld we are BFing and have used a dummy from the start. She only uses it when she’s really tired and going to sleep (if with someone else as she just wants boob from me), sometimes it stays in while she sleeps, other times she spits it out. She definitely lets me know if it’s boob she wants instead but she is quite a headstrong little one that is very good at making her wishes known 😂

Strawberries4days · 04/01/2021 11:55

@DressingGown87 Is she down for the whole night or up for a feed? That's only happened once where she slept from 11pm to 5.30am without waking up. Best sleep we both had haha

@Mc3209 that's still pretty good! My back kills just now so a sling isnt such a good idea atm🙈

@1990shopefulftm I hear so many good things about Ewan the sheep. I gave up putting on white noise during nap times cause it works just for 10 minutes then she's wide awake again. Right now I got toy story on and she's asleep in her bouncer, so hopefully it'll be longer than 10 mins🤞

Ahh it's a pain when babies spit out things. Sophia was good with the rotavirus but hated the paracetamol I got from boots. Spat that out 2 seconds I gave her it. I think it's all on taste and flavour. The rotavirus apparently has a orange taste and the paracetamol at the GP had cherry flavour. She sooked them dry😂 I think she doesn't like the strawberry paracetamol I got for her from boots🤷🏼‍♀️ so hopefully Rafa would like those flavours at the GP if it is all the same flavour

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 04/01/2021 12:43

Tiny tip re calpol, use a syringe and squirt tiny bits at a time into the corner of the mouth so they can't push it out as easily with their tongues.

I'm trying to start a routine this week with biggest boy back at school. Not sure where to start mind.

We've had first lots of immunisations today

DressingGown87 · 04/01/2021 13:44

@Strawberries4days that is straight through, without any feeds. I spoke to the GP as I was concerned she went 10/12 hours without a feed at such a young age (as she has been like this since 6/7weeks), and he said she is putting on weight, and feeding regular through the day so not to worry. She is down now, just grabbed her bunny and went to sleep. Hope the bouncer nap lasted. I have Ewan and it’s really good, only use it at night though, so we don’t confuse bedtime and nap time.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt hope the immunisations went ok.

ChlOeWh · 04/01/2021 20:29

Hi ladies.. honestly don't laugh but is it too early for Lilah-Rae to be teething? 😩 all the signs are there 🙈

DressingGown87 · 04/01/2021 21:06

@ChlOeWh Paige has a tooth coming through 🙈 so no! I didn’t think anything of her dribbling, red cheeks, and constant chewing until the GP at her checkup told me.

ChlOeWh · 04/01/2021 21:32

@DressingGown87 honestly Lilah-Rae is so grisly with it 😩 I'm deffo gonna have to ask at her next appointment 🙈

GhostWorld · 04/01/2021 22:20

Thanks @sls668 that's helpful to know, I can see it would be beneficial to him but there are so many mixed messages about bfing and dummies so good to know it works for you!

Re teething, my little one has started to dribble and red cheeks and a bit more moody, HV said could be teething but teeth move round loads before they come out so it doesn't mean your 10 week old will get a tooth (thank goodness)!

Mc3209 · 05/01/2021 04:23

So, another lockdown, eh?
I wonder if a walk with the pram counts as exercise. I'd hate to lose those..

OP posts:
Sls668 · 05/01/2021 06:05

@Mc3209 pram walk 100% counts as exercise 😊
I just had a solid 6 hours sleep with baby in her own bed and no wake ups so I feel like I might go train for a marathon as my exercise today 😂

Mc3209 · 05/01/2021 06:47

@Sls668 whoop whoop! Congratulations on 6 hour stretch! 😍 I love how definition of a good night's sleep changes post baby. In my previous non parent life I would have moaned at getting 'just 6 hours'. Now those 6 hours without wake ups feel like luxury 😂

OP posts:
Sls668 · 05/01/2021 08:22

@Mc3209 I know, I could easily sleep 10-12 hours happily before pregnancy! It’s our first time for longer than 3-4 hours, I feel like ringing everyone up just to tell them 😂

ChlOeWh · 06/01/2021 19:07

So on the teething front again 😩 got a very inconsolable little girl who is definitely showing signs off it, I've gone and got teething powder (Ashton and Parsons) but it says 3+ months and she's not 3 months till the 19th Jan.. would this still be okay to use or...? Am I best of waiting xx

SamK93 · 06/01/2021 20:16

@ChlOeWh I know how you feel, Noah is definitely showing signs of teething! He is 13 weeks tomorrow and had his 12 week immunisations today and he is soo clingy and inconsolable a long with all the teething symptoms. I'd hold out until his three months though with the powder just to be on the safe side.

SamK93 · 06/01/2021 20:18

Sorry I meant to say her! @ChlOeWh*
