@DressingGown87 his naps vary a lot so not bothered about them. Maybe will adjust his bedtime by half an hour as that won't make too much of a difference

krissy12 · 11/03/2021 22:58

I follow takingcarababies on Instagram and she has good advice about naps I found her stories today helpful

DressingGown87 · 11/03/2021 23:22

@krissy12 I follow her too, I watched the crappy naps. All to familiar with the poop face 😂 we had a crappy nap day, but she was at the childminder.

I got my first handmade Mother’s Day card and plant pot today. 🥰 (slightly damp in one corner as I think she tried to eat it)

My DS has started crying in the night, it's more moaning than anything as he's still asleep and it's not really obvious what it is he's crying at.. He does usually do a poo as soon as he wakes up but it doesn't really feel like it's bottom gas or anything.. does this sound like sleep regression to you? Sitting up with him and cuddling doesn't stop it nor does bike peddling, I just end up putting him on the boob which does stop it although it isn't hunger because he's sometimes already feeding when he starts crying.

1990shopefulftm · 12/03/2021 12:05

DS has started having a night feed again but he has about 12 oz at 8pm so there's nothing we could really do it encourage him to take more before bed. I'm considering upping him to 9oz during the day now though as he keeps wanting top-ups more than just his before bed bottle.

BlueLilyLilyBlue · 12/03/2021 13:12

@GhostWorld my DS sometimes wakes up screaming and it's not hunger- it usually happens at the end of a sleep cycle so I assumed that it was just regression. So perhaps it could be? He only started doing it during this regression period.

Still in the thick of regression although it has improved slightly. He's started to eat more again in the day which has helped to reduce his hunger at night (although feeding him on a bench in the park the other day was a mistake.... look there's ducks! And a dog! And a person! He ate nothing). He did a 5 hour 20 minute stretch the other night. And last night he was wide awake at 1am but I ended up just leaving him to his wiggling around and I assume he went to sleep! So things are improving slowly. Naps are also slightly less fighty although still incredibly short and still on 4 naps a day.

Has anyone's baby developed a bit of stranger danger? Apart from my mum we're not seeing anyone obviously but we do have a driveway visit from my MIL and the last few times he's seen her he has screamed the house down Sad. She found it quite distressing. The postman also got both barrels when he dared to wave at him! The end of this lockdown can't come quickly enough.

DressingGown87 · 12/03/2021 15:01

@GhostWorld aww. I think it’s linked to regression from what I’ve read, as they tend to becoming unsettled when they are transitioning between sleep cycles, so moan, winge, and generally become restless. It’s like adults sleep talking. So hopefully it will pass. Paige does it, and I generally just leave her be. But once a night she will wake fully, and blow raspberries for a bit, move around her cot and then doses back off without any interaction.

@1990shopefulftm hopefully when you start to wean it will combat some of the hunger.

@BlueLilyLilyBlue they get so distracted when they are outside don’t they. We still have mainly 4 short naps, although some days we do strike nap gold (not today), but she doesn’t fight anymore, which was half the battle. Aww bless him, hopefully when things get less restricted he becomes more use to people. Paige seems to just like shouting at people and ducks, in her own language, or laughs and sticks her tongue out at other children. But that is probably as she has been going to other people / childcare whilst I work, so is use to it. My friends DD is just like your DS, they all will find their way at some point.

1990shopefulftm · 12/03/2021 15:12

@DressingGown87 I think we re going to start in 6 weeks time. It's throwing me off when people say give milk then food as I thought the NHS suggests the other way, do you mind me asking what you do with Paige?

DressingGown87 · 12/03/2021 15:58

@1990shopefulftm The dietician suggested we do one meal a day. So she has 6/7oz feeds at 7.30, 10.30, 13.30, 16.30, and then I give her a meal at 17.30 with cooled boiled water. Then she has a bedtime feed at 19.30. Their advice was to do it between feeds, and at a time that suited us.

1990shopefulftm · 12/03/2021 16:01

@DressingGown87 that makes sense, he eats at 9.30, 1/2 ish 6 and 8 then a random time at the middle of the night so I m not certain which meal to start with. The 8pm one is his biggest bottle though

DressingGown87 · 12/03/2021 16:37

@1990shopefulftm It just the time which was easiest for us both, as I collect her from the childminder at 5, so I can consistently stick with that time / meal (ish) on the other 6 days. Plus I cook, or eat with her. I also find its better if she has napped beforehand, so she isn't tired, but she still isnt really taking to much. Could you do an early lunch feed? around 11.30 - 12.00 or early tea at 4ish?

1990shopefulftm · 12/03/2021 16:39

@DressingGown87 I think an early lunch feed could work. He's always sat at the breakfast bar when we eat so I could strap him in and feed him then do my own lunch.

Sls668 · 12/03/2021 18:33

@BlueLilyLilyBlue my LO won’t go to anyone else, sometimes not even her Dad! She sees my mum at least 3 times a week and won’t even go to her! I know she’ll grow out of it eventually but it’s hard when people want to play with her and she screams blue murder at them!

1990shopefulftm · 12/03/2021 21:26

I like to check babies height and weight ever couple of weeks and his height isn't even on the centiles chart anymore Shock

Mc3209 · 14/03/2021 10:18

Happy Mothers day, lovelies!

Happy Mother’s Day, hope your all having a nice day.

GhostWorld · 16/03/2021 14:24

Hope you all had lovely mothers days ❤. Does anyone have a Rockit? Can you tell me if it actually rocks or does it vibrate? My lo will sleep in his pram if its moving but doesn't seem to like vibrating things. I'm currently wheeling the pram in circles while watching countdown and thinking I wish there was something that could do this for me

1990shopefulftm · 16/03/2021 16:12

Gone through 2 t-shirts today and haven't sorted the washing, the last one wouldn't go over babies head so had to grab a 12-18 months one expecting it to be too big and it actually fits. Glad we barely buy any new clothes for him.

DressingGown87 · 16/03/2021 19:40

@GhostWorld I looked at them a while back but never got one as DD started sleeping better. my friend got one, and it kind of vibrates to create a rocking motion, which I think the strength would depend on the weight / suspension of the Pram. Hers worked for a few days, then her DD (7months) got a bit wise to it. So she’s reverted to trying cot naps again. Sorry I couldn’t be anymore useful, hope you find a solution.

@1990shopefulftm aww bless him. They grow out of clothes so quickly. Saying that Paige grew out of 3-6, so I gave them my sister and got her some 6-9, they drown her, and she gets so annoyed at her sleeves, and feet coming out the sleep suits now. So I bought another pack of 3-6 and they fit perfectly. Think I just just shrink everything 😂

1990shopefulftm · 16/03/2021 19:45

@DressingGown87 I have to roll some of his trousers up as he's too chunky for smaller ones but they re a bit long, I wash most things on 30c so I can't have shrunk them.

Mc3209 · 16/03/2021 23:06

@DressingGown87 I shrink a lot of baby clothes too, it's the dryer that does it. I find Next baby grows/vests are probably the best for surviving my laundry techniques.

FirstSurprise001 · 18/03/2021 21:19

We’re starting the transition from swaddling to non-swaddling tonight with one arm out of the swaddle. I know I should have done this weeks ago (when he first started rolling) but I love my sleep too much! 😆

Anyone else managed the transition successfully? Whenever he’s managed to get his arm out in his sleep (Houdini) he’s got the tendency to scratch the material on the side of his crib which drives me crazy! 😩

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn · 19/03/2021 03:06

Struggling with lack of sleep ATM. Baby wakes often and currently likes a split night with a wide awake party at 2am. I'm currently downstairs sitting in the dark with my little sleepsponge.

We've also been trying to wean into prescription formula for a cow's milk allergy. Long process so far and it'd been very stressful. Baby had s severe reaction and ended up with terrible infected eczema.

How's everyone else? I try to keep up but miss lots

Mc3209 · 19/03/2021 04:58

@FirstSurprise001 I've transitioned my little one from Love to Dream swaddle into a sleeping bag. I was dreading it at first as well, but actually it went OK. I put socks over his hands overnight to stop scratching, perhaps that will help with your wee problem?

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn my sympathies re sleep. It's all just a phase and will pass. I hope your little sleep thief is asleep by now 😘 Sounds like you are having really tough time with formula. Sending strength!

Strawberries4days · 19/03/2021 09:37

@FirstSurprise001 we transitioned when DD kept escaping hers. It was a bit tough for the first few nights but then she was sleeping like normal. After a good few weeks we then got her other arm out and she was quite happy. We use the tommee tippee grobag which helped a lot cause it's just zips. We had to bring her cot to our room cause she kept hitting the sides of her travel cot and waking her up. The first night she slept with her arms wide apart and loved it 😂
