thank you @Mc3209

GhostWorld · 03/02/2021 04:24

@1990shopefulftm I had my smear last week, when I booked the appt I asked if I could bring baby and they said no so dp waited outside with him but then when I got there the nurse said we were expecting you to have the baby.. I think if you need to bring LO there isn't much they can say!

To be honest I wish I had put mine off a bit longer, the pain was quite unpleasant and reminded me of the labour (obviously a very mild version) and it made me feel sick and panicky.

Sls668 · 03/02/2021 11:30

I’m due to book in for my smear too soon. Unless my sister or family ask to take the baby (they love when I have appointments so they get snuggle time!) she’ll be coming along with me.
For those struggling with contraception, I’ve used the patch for a long time and loved it pre-pregnancy, it’s one of the options that people don’t know about so worth looking into

@GhostWorld I m sorry that it was uncomfortable, my grandma had cervical cancer so I really don't want to put mine off too long since I ve never had one yet.

GBA123 · 04/02/2021 11:54

Anyone else’s baby ridiculously fussy atm? Gone from being able to go on his mat or in his chair etc for nearly 30 mins at a time to only being happy if held! Getting him to nap is suddenly so difficult as well!! So noisy in the nights as well so back to feeling knackered!! Just me??

Strawberries4days · 04/02/2021 12:06

@GBA123 maybe start of sleep regression? Hopefully that will pass for you, especially when you need to get stuff done! Sophia's not so much fussy to be held but definitely more vocal now and it's a pain at nights 🙈 she used to sleep till 4/4.30 but now she's waking up for a feed at 2/2.30am for the past few nights! Not screaming just waking up, chatting and grumbling. Fed every 3 hours now on 5oz but wouldn't take more cause she would sometimes just do 4oz.

DressingGown87 · 04/02/2021 12:57

@GBA123 I would also say it’s may be regression, and hopefully it passes soon. I find IF Paige caves and has her nap, she will wake up at the end of that sleep cycle (30-45mins) in the day, will then just be wide eyed and blow raspberries. Then 10 minutes later she realises she still tired 🤦🏽‍♀️ If she’s in her bouncer or mat, if you leave the room she now notices if she can’t see you so will shout and cry out. (Current reorganizing living room so she can see the sofa / my desk and contemplating ordering a cardboard cut out)

@Strawberries4days They do ramble on don’t they 😂 I often lie there wonder what’s she actually chatting about. And so LOUD! Hope Sophia starts to sleep better soon.

Sls668 · 04/02/2021 13:34

@GBA123 gosh I haven’t been able to put baby down for the whole 12 weeks of her life 😂 she’s a true Velcro baby

1990shopefulftm · 04/02/2021 17:02

So DS is 13weeks tommorow and he's 8.7kg /19lbs , so we re going to have to figure out how his cot could fit in our bedroom this weekend as the next to me weigh limit is 9kg Shock

Strawberries4days · 04/02/2021 17:44

@DressingGown87 it's like they go over with themselves on what they did the day😂 ah she'll get there!

@GBA123 hope he settles soon!

I just got the tummy time llama by fisher price cause Sophia found a way to squash the tummy time pillow and bury her head on the floor for some reason🤦🏽‍♀️ so far it's really good and she's smiling which is a first! Grows up with her as a fun toy as well so it's pretty good

Glooorb · 04/02/2021 18:18

@1990shopefulftm wow!! Almost 9 kg? My LO is just over 6kg at almost 16 weeks...

Ladies, I feel rather down today. The problem is - I'm bored. And I feel really guilty for feeling bored. I really want to play with my baby and in love making his smile and laugh, but there is only so many activities indoors we can rotate around. The weather is rubbish today so we didn't even get to go out for our daily walk, and obviously nothing else to do with lockdown. No zoom classes scheduled today either. This covid situation is starting to make its mark on my mental health. I want to be able to go outside of my home and experience things with my baby... ☹️

1990shopefulftm · 04/02/2021 18:24

@Glooorb yes he's going to be 9kg by 14 weeks we recon.

Initially if it was raining we wouldn't go out with the pram but we live in the north west so that can write off half the week, so now we go out with the rain cover with him in his thick coat even when it's snowing. The exercise does me a lot of good and I m finally having a good weight loss week so not letting the weather put us off.

Technically baby support groups are still legal, I don't feel comfortable going yet but there's one in my area that's socially distanced baby massage so something might exist in your area still.

Mc3209 · 04/02/2021 18:36

@1990shopefulftm what a big boy, I bet he is super cute! Mine is just under 7kg at 14 weeks.
@Glooorb sending hugs and sympathies your way. It sucks, really does.

Oh and @DressingGown87 something that you said earlier re your previous driving anxiety. I only got my licence when I moved to Scotland 6 years ago (didn't need to drive before then!), and with this lockdown don't really have to drive anywhere, I am yet to drive with my baby in the car! And just the thought of it gives me shivers. Not only getting back behind the wheel, but doing so with my son in the back.. 😐

Sls668 · 04/02/2021 21:06

@Glooorb I’ve felt like that recently too. I go to my mums most days which Is lovely and sometimes meet a friend for a walk but it’s just not the same. I want to be taking her out to groups or meeting friends for coffee

DressingGown87 · 04/02/2021 22:53

@1990shopefulftm wow big boy. I think Paige is just under 7kg at 16weeks. She is now high on her percentile though (she was below 25th) seems to have rocketed since her reflux and milk have been medicated. Hope you can fit the cot in.

@Strawberries4days yes, talking about what they’ve done. I find it funny when she tries talking back to me in her weird little way. That looks great, hopefully she enjoys it. Paige likes to just lick the floor 🤦🏽‍♀️

@Glooorb Don’t feel bad, it’s tough. There’s only so much you can take of the four walls we live in. Spring is on the way, and although things might not be “normal” the weather will be better. I try for out everyday (unless it torrential) for a walk. I think this is another reason why I’ve not been phased about returning to work too, as it breaks my weeks up. It’s mainly financial reasons, and due to commitments to contractors / projects being self employed. But it’s also so I can enjoy time at a later date with her when there is more to do, without having to return to a full time role. Do you have someone you could form a childcare support bubble with? So you can get a change of scenery? I hope tomorrow is a better day.

@Mc3209 aww hope you will be ok, and I’m sure you will be. I’ve being driving 16years, and all of a sudden lost my confidence (in most things in life) after loosing my step children which led to a breakdown. Just do short trips at a time, and you will build it up. Paige has had two good journeys now, but I’m still on edge in the build up to setting off. We have her injection tomorrow, so already worried about the journey, especially the return home.

krissy12 · 05/02/2021 18:45

I'm starting to think we've also hit the sleep regression early aswell. we have gone from sleeping through to 6-7 am to up for a bottle at 3 and up crying a few times through the night although he will settle with white noise. naps also arent going great but typically having a long danger nap as I type

also starting to struggle with the lockdown in Scotland we dont have the bubbles for under 1 year old which is frustrating. finding like each day is groundhog day and missing out on getting out and showing him off

parks11 · 05/02/2021 20:34

Hi, sorry I haven't posted in some time. It's good to come back here and hear about all the babies 💖💙.
I wondered if any of you had any ideas what I could do or have any experience of this. My baby is 16 weeks now and we are still having a problem with burping. The last feed is the worst and burping can last from a minimum of one hour and up to 4hrs! It's exhausting!
If I put her down, then she goes red, cries and straightens her back until I can get the burps out. There are literally hundreds of burps.
She is obviously in pain :-(.
I breastfeed for most of the feeds and my partner gives her formula for the last feed
We have tried infant Gaviscon, Dr Brown bottles, infacol, reflux formula, gripe water
water and different feeding and burping positions. The health visitor is saying that this is normal and she will grow out of it but at 16 weeks I can't see an improvement.
I've spoken to the doctor who has now prescribed omeprazole which will get tomorrow.
I just wonder if anyone else had experienced anything like this xxx

DressingGown87 · 05/02/2021 21:23

@krissy12 Hope the danger nap wasn’t too dangerous! Hopefully the weather improves soon for you in Scotland, are you allowed to meet someone for a walk?

@parks11 Nice to hear your update. My suggestion would have been gripe water, but can see you’ve already tried that. Paige is on omeprazole, and that has helped loads. They’ve even commented at her injections today, what a different baby she seems. So hopefully it helps you too. It did take a few days to start working though.

krissy12 · 05/02/2021 21:34

@parks11 have you tried colief drops they were amazing for us.

@DressingGown87 thank you. yeah can meet outside for a walk but the weather is pretty miserable so although I go out every day it makes it difficult to meet people

parks11 · 05/02/2021 22:01

@DressingGown87 that’s great to hear that omeprazole has made such a difference for your little one 😊 Also gives me some hope!

@krissy12, no I haven’t tried colief, thank you for the suggestion

Mc3209 · 05/02/2021 23:20

@krissy12 are you north east Scotland by any chance? 😊

OP posts:
krissy12 · 06/02/2021 08:08

@Mc3209 no I'm near Glasgow so although we dont have the snow we have never ending heavy rain and wind

Mc3209 · 06/02/2021 13:00

@krissy12 weather is absolute pants here too. I haven't left the house in a week.

Hi ladies,
Haven’t posted in a while so just catching up. I think we’ve hit the sleep regression early at 14 weeks. Gone from asleep by 9 and a couple of feeds a night to awake every hour in the night and hardly sleeping in the day. He’s also teething but not strong enough yet to hold a teether himself.
I’m exhausted!

We have the added luxury of him being a very long baby so he’s waking himself up in the night by being either at the very top of his next to me crib or moving from one side to the other.

All the days seem to be rolling into one big sleep, cry, eat, sleep, cry. It’s like having a newborn all over again!
