I have applied three times now, twice online, which I have email reciepts for and second time via post and they have lost all of the forms and have no record of me applying.........yeah right, what a coincidence.

They said go up and enrol anyway, but I know full well that they won't let you enrol unless you have had an interview.

What tossers.

Just go and enrol- the enrollers surely wont know if you had an interview will they???

how did ds's first day go??

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:06

Yeah they will cos I need a letter signed to say I have had interview and have a conditional or unconditional ofer.

Ds starts tommorow, am dreading it. Did your ds start today ??

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:07

no- ds1 goes back tomorrow- ds2 starts next wednesday.

They are driving me mad, fighting constantly.

So what can you do about college? can you see if you can get put through to someone who knows what they are talking about?

which college? our course adviser at Barnet still hasn't told or communicated our new course details or our sylabis or our start date. I only enrolled by fluke as a fellow student told me it was open day to enrol. very badly organised.

Fireflyfairy2 · 04/09/2007 11:10

Just go & enrol. Explain that the feckless fools have lost your forms. Not your fault!

I would go & enrol anyway, especially if it's anything like my college. I didn't need a letter to say I had an interview. It wasn't the same people who dealt with things.

If anything, it will be when the course starts that you are found out not to have had an interview, as it was the tutors who interviewed me! But by that stage you will already have had a place & they're not going to throw you out, are they!!!

Fireflyfairy2 · 04/09/2007 11:10

Is it a degree course? I thought conditional and unconditional only applied for uni courses...

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:12

It's an access course, but i have strted it and dropped out 3 times so i think they are fed up of me tbh.

Just looking to se if any other colleges do the course, but seeing as this college have taken over nearly every nearby college, it's doubtful.

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 11:12

go any way and good luck

Fireflyfairy2 · 04/09/2007 11:14

Well if they are fed up with you then they should have the guts to give you an interview, let you explain yourself & then make a decision from there!

Actually, if you've technically already started the course, do you need an interview?????

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:16

I am so annoyed, because on the postal application, I put alot of info wrt why I hadn't been able to complete the course before etc, and they are still not interested.

NomDePlumeIsOffWorkToday · 04/09/2007 11:17

They may well be questioning your commitment/ability to stick to the course if you have 'dropped out' 3 times. Even so, they should at least have the courtesy to let you know.

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 11:17

I'd take it as the applications are lost by some temp worker in the office

go and enrol if you want to do it..

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:18

What are you going to do? Go up and risk it?

with the interview letter- what do they mean conditional/unconditional?- conditional of what? (seems like YEARS ago that I enrolled!)

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:18

Oh I know they are NDP, three so called lost applications makes it a bit obvious doesn't it.

I would have thought they'd have had the guts to tell me though tbh.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:18

Nom- started a thread in chat looking for you earlier!

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:19

On the letters now there are two statements, one is stating that you have been interviewed and have an unconditional offer and the other states that you have been interviwed but the offer is conditional on XYZ, could be getting extra maths help or something I suppose.

Nowhere else does the course, well no where I can get to anyway.

OP posts:
Fireflyfairy2 · 04/09/2007 11:19

I know the uni places are conditional of the grades you get in your exams.

So what are the conditions of entry onto an access course?

I didn't need anything except commitment for my access course. Oh & English

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 11:20

it's only conditional if you took exams this year already but the results are all done now anyway...just go and sign up..

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:20

ah right- you still have to sit those aptitude tests aswell I suppose!

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:20

I think one of the conditions is a good level of maths and english, and you have to sit an assessment before interview for that.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:20

Yep.

OP posts:
NomDePlumeIsOffWorkToday · 04/09/2007 11:21

"conditional" generally means that they are offering you a place on the understanding that you will attain a certain exam result prior to starting their course (such as a-level students who have to apply for uni before they have their a-level exam results).

It seems odd that they would use 'conditional/unconditional' for an access course, which has very few entry qualifications as a minimum (in fact, are there any ?)

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:21

Josiah Mason college do an access course but that would be a pain to get to I think.

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 11:21

but you must have done it before..so no problem surely

NomDePlumeIsOffWorkToday · 04/09/2007 11:21

ah sorry, in the time it took me type all that, you'd responded to a milion other posts about it !
