I have applied three times now, twice online, which I have email reciepts for and second time via post and they have lost all of the forms and have no record of me applying.........yeah right, what a coincidence.

They said go up and enrol anyway, but I know full well that they won't let you enrol unless you have had an interview.

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:31

Thats what I thought Peachy, I remember people trying to enrol last year who hadn't been interviwed and they wouldn't let them.

It would be easier to sort out if I went in wouldn't it, as much as I hate the thought of it.

No- because the note will go missing- you need to speak to someone and get it clarified whether you can start or not.

If you can- try to phone her- of course its nerve wracking, but she is ok and im sure would listen to you.

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:33

I need a confused, terrified , screwed up face emoticon.

She was funny with me when I left last year though emma, even though I did email her to tell her why, she was very off with me in the reply.

think of it this way..you are the customer and they need customers

it is their job to do stuff for you not the other way round

you can do it

everything gets sorted more effectively face to face

and peachy sounds like she knows what she is talking about

do you have a direct line from the prospectus for a tutor on the course

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:34

Nope no direct line to the tutor. Had to go through 3 people before I got the right person today.

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 12:35

ask for direct line numbers and names when you speak to them and for them to email you after you speak

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:35

what did she say?

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:36

What did who say ??

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:36

SA! in her email

( sorry am I sending you mad!!??)

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:38

You mean when I left and emailed her and she replied ? Did i ring her then ? God no

OP posts:
nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:38

Sending me mad, no, am already mad LOL

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:38

yes- when you emailed her last year- you said she was off with you.

sorry!!

Peachy · 04/09/2007 12:39

Honestly I would go in, all colleges are different but if they're so over run (and I bet they are) that they're not coping, well the reception staff tend to be on enrollments as well and your chances of getting mcuh sorted is seriously reduced.
Every FE college ahs a quality manager, and every Tutor has a line manager (head of School) who can intervene in thsi sort of case, take along copies of the e-maila cknowledgements 9so they can't say oh no sorry its full now you shoudl have applied earlier). But do go in.

FWIW my old Access course accepted poeple a good few weeks in, if that helps.

other possible cause could be a computer fault or tutor laziness, both of these were an issue with us!!! We had to hit a button to refer to interview and it didn't always go through (we backed up with paper copies as well), and also quite often the Tutors just didn't bother to respond- however, there should be a monitoring system set up to check they are responding.

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:40

No I didn't, didn't see the point tbh as she seemed pissed off with me for dropping out again (fair enough), plus I am scared of her lol.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:41

They did say that it was very unusual for an email application to not go through, but now it has happened twice, and the postal one has gone walkies, it has made me paranoid.

They are terribly unorganised, always have been.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:41

you should let me ring her- she wont know its not you- and Im sure I can convince her why you had to laeve the course.

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:42

That is very very tempting emma, but if we got found out a) they would think i was nuts and b)i'd defo not get on the course lol.

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 12:43

I think you will get on if you go for it..other people will drop out they always do

but you have to decide whether you are going to be firm with yourself and see it through

if you do then it will be something which takes you forward on to the next stage

just don't give yourself permission to think about failing

it is not an alternative

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 12:44

we make our own luck

and a few more cliches that i can think of

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:47

how would she know.

I would say
"Hi S- sorry to disturb you, im sure you must be busy bla blah blah.
Im concerned as i have applied via various methods over the past few weeks and as of yet have not been given an interview date.
I have phoned today to be told to just turn up, but im unsure as to whether I am able to do this- especially as I have left the course before"

And then hopefully she will engage in convo with me and I can tell her how unsupported you was at home, with very young children- all of your children are now at school and you finally feel able to commit to further Education.

badda bing.

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:48

If they say no i'll get ds to tell them off, he is quite good at it LOL.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:49

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm it could work yeah, are you sure you really want to ?? I'd rather sit in a room full of snakes LOL

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:50

of course ill do it.

I can talk the talk

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 12:50

I think in some ways there is every reason to believe that someone who has previously tried the course but who has now moved on in personal circumstances would be a better or at least as good a bet commitment wise than a person starting anew

or something in better english

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:51

ROFL

Ok, but you need to know what I put on my last application form, just incase she has read it.

Which email addy do you use now ?? Email me if you like [email protected]
