I have applied three times now, twice online, which I have email reciepts for and second time via post and they have lost all of the forms and have no record of me applying.........yeah right, what a coincidence.

They said go up and enrol anyway, but I know full well that they won't let you enrol unless you have had an interview.

I'm back

Went in an spoke to SA, she was lovely. She's pushed me straight through with nonneed for an interview and all I need to do now is pop in tommorow to do the maths and english assessment as they can't find last years.

Have to go next tuesday for the last bit of enrolment and induction, and then every tuesday after that

Can't thank you enough Emma XXX

well done , take it in little steps and you'll get there.

tiredemma · 05/09/2007 16:31

Good for you!

Do you feel a bit 'lifted' after going in?

New start now nutty- new goals- new life!

(at least she never recognised the change in your voice to yesterday!)

Yep thats exactly what I plan to do.

I am as pleased as punch tbh as it means I still get be really invloved with ds in his first couple of years at school.

Going to go through all of my stuff and see if I need any new stationary or anything as the kids pinched most of what I already had. I must order new ink cartridges.

LOL emma, I did wonder if she'd notice tbh, but thankfully ds was a good enough distraction, and she sat asking him about school whilst I filled everything in.

Had forgotten how bloody busy it is in there, practically had to fight my way through the crowds all the way up and down the main road, and ds got smashed in the face by someones sports bag, although bloke was very apologetic.

I did tell SA how much I appreciate her giving me another chance, and she said she must be going soft in her old age

tiredemma · 05/09/2007 16:52

Smiths have got a fab sale on!

( I love buying stationary- I but it when I dont even need it)

its exciting isnt it?!!!

nutcracker · 05/09/2007 17:23

Ta Zippi

Might have a browse in Smiths tommorow.

Need to get a form for the learner support fund too as I will need money for books.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 05/09/2007 17:25

Oh they have changed the course a bit too, some of the subjects are slightly different and the whole course now gives you 60 credits as each thing is worth 9 instead of the previous 3.

As long as gets me where I want to be I don't care LOL.

don't you have a works

tesco is cheapest place for paper and either tescos or woolies for those plastic things

LIZS · 05/09/2007 17:43

or Wilkos. Don't forget to accept any and all offers of help you get. You are going to need support to help get you through when things aren't so upbeat at times and if you knock people back when you think you may not need it they may not be so willing when you do. Hope it goes well tomorrow.

tiredemma · 05/09/2007 20:19

Did she say what the new modules would be?

I was so excited when I started access, made some fab friends aswell.

im sure this will do wonders for you nutty.

nutcracker · 05/09/2007 21:00

Erm tbh I think they are basicaly the same modules but renamed and tweaked a bit.

I am excited and scared all at the same time

biochemistry is a bastard. avoid it all costs if you can.

the time flies and goes so fast- cant believe how long ago I did it.

Before you know it, you will be applying to uni's

...but then again- no rush with that as your access cert lasts 5 years

nutcracker · 05/09/2007 21:06

I think I will have to do Bio Chem if I want to do ODP course, but am not 100% sure about what I want yet as always really wanted to be a nurse in scbu.

I think for now I am not even going to try and deicde but see if I can get a days shadowing in both areas.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 05/09/2007 21:08

really think about ODP- the days I spent in theatre- the odp's looked bored- passing utensils to surgeons.
(but shadowing would give you a good idea)

nutcracker · 05/09/2007 21:16

Yeah thats exactly what I was thinking earlier today, i definatly need to look into it more.

tiredemma · 05/09/2007 21:19

Plenty of time to research- you know that UCE diploma and degree placements are on 'circuits' dont you? ie- your placements would all be local and hospital would be GH childrens ward and/or Children hospital. We dont have circuits at bham- we get sent anywhere!

tiredemma · 05/09/2007 21:19

off to bed now anyway- knackered!

good luck for maths and english tomorrow x

zippitippitoes · 06/09/2007 10:31

good luck in the tests today nutty

nutcracker · 06/09/2007 10:51

Thanks all

The tests went ok, although oddly I got a lower than normal result in the English one and a much higher than normal result in the Maths one. The difference was so much so that I nearly asked if they could have gotten mixed up some how, but I don't think they can.

Normally I get level 2 for English and for Maths am just about reaching level 1. This time I got level 1 for English, with level 2 ability showing, and level 1 - 2 for Maths......very odd.

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 06/09/2007 11:08

good so all set up now

nutcracker · 06/09/2007 11:33

I think so yeah, some of the staff looked a bit confused as to why I wasn't having an interview, despite me and the tutor explaining yesterday, but I have my letter telling me when and where to go and it's signed by the tutor so thats all I really need.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 06/09/2007 21:13

maths eh? You dark horse!
