I have applied three times now, twice online, which I have email reciepts for and second time via post and they have lost all of the forms and have no record of me applying.........yeah right, what a coincidence.

They said go up and enrol anyway, but I know full well that they won't let you enrol unless you have had an interview.

Tbh I probably won't decide wether I am going or not until I collect ds from school, or even when I get off the bus the other end.

I will try, I promise that much at least.

it could be youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

LIZS · 04/09/2007 12:03

nutty can you ring and get a specific interview time for when your ds is at school. Maybe arrange it with a tutor specifically if you know one. It is nothing personal, probably just an admin cock up. I was at a job interview yesterday at our local FE college and, while I waited, people were turning up for enrollments and course interviews, some of whom the poor receptionist had no record of and could n't locate anybody they were meant to be seeing. You do need to be persistent if you really want to do this or, if the access course is not available atm, perhaps look at a maths course (if that is your weakness) etc to prepare you and boost your confidence. good luck

I've sent you a CAT

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:03

Ok- ( I would probably get into an argument with her)

In all seriousness now- I know you are worried about being knocked back, I know that this worries you because of how you are feeling at the moment.
I know that you are anxious, not just about this but about various aspects of your life.

You have a couple of days to start to rebuild your life- The worse that could possibly happen is that they say 'no' - at least you know then and can thing of other options.

Deep down I know that this is unlikely to happen- you just have to try and be positive and push away the feelings that you cant do something.

You have to be pro-active though emma and chase this up- otherwise you will miss the start of this years course and eventually this will knock your self worth again.

Either get on the phone or go up there. we are all behind you.

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 12:04

to tell you to forget college and just get drunk with me

NomDePlumeIsOffWorkToday · 04/09/2007 12:04

Don't make promises about this, nutty. If you don't manage to get there for whatever reason, you will just have another excuse to beat yourself up.

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:05

zippi- im local with nowt to do- ill come and get drunk also

Fireflyfairy2 · 04/09/2007 12:06

LIZS had a great plan!!!

If they do say the access is full, then ry a maths course!! Or something that you can use as a foundation to your access course!!

Excellent idea!

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 12:10

I'm nervous too nutty..i'm just trying not to think about it

I think the course I'm doing is all 16 year old lads

the time is right for you to do this course and I will give you some ideas on the anxiety too if I canh..and I'm sure tiredemma can

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:13

I can't get the CAT Zippi, am registered under old no longer used email addy.

I am not going to promise I will go, because I know that until I get off the bus tommorow I won't know wether I can go or not, but I will promise to try.

LIZ - The girl I spoke to today said that I need to go up and fill out an application form, and then enrol and that if they have a spare interview slot they will interview me, although she wasn't sure if they were still doing interviews

I did ask if I could just be given an appointment for an interview now and fill in an application form before hand but she said 'no not really'.

Nutty, I am doing maths and english at an adult education centre starting this week.
For confidence building, and so that I can maybe add up the figures on my tax return.
Please go along.

Can you download the form or ask them to email it ? Still try to talk to someone involved in the course rather than an admin person with stock answers.

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:16

Nutty- what makes this so hard for you? Is it the thought of being refused on the course?

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:20

Well they have advised me to hand it in in person seeing as they have already lost 3 forms Liz.

I really don't know emma, am terrified of them refusing, am terrified of them aceepting me and me cocking it up again, loads of things really. Am terrified of failing and letting people down mainly.

Sounds good CC

Will email you zippi.

Listen, feck other people.

Worry about yourself.

Don't let yourself down.

Go & hand in the form... get the interview & then hold your head up high! Show that arsehole who's boss!!!

And with this course started you'll have a bit of confidence under your belt... you can go out & start grabbing life again!!

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:23

Liz - How did your interview go by the way ?

OP posts:
LIZS · 04/09/2007 12:24

Fair enough but just thought you could fill it out ahead of going (to save time and so you aren't rushed to complete it) and perhaps arrange to see someone for an interview at the same time , by the back door.

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:26

Oh yes iswym now, I could do that yeah, which I might do if I don't go in tommrow.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 12:26

nutty- if you dont start this course you will regret it.

when your ds starts school you will have every day to yourself- if you do this course over two years, one day a week - there is no reason why you should have to give it up, you will have plenty of free time to do the work etc.

So many people on here have already done access and will be able to help you through it.

Your children will benefit from your lift in confidence from you doing something for you- soemthing that you can do.

LIZS · 04/09/2007 12:28

Interview was ok , thanks I'm seriously out of interview and pc practice though ! Just got to wait and see now.

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:29

You are right emma, and I have told myself that over and over, am just worried I may not get the chance now, and it is my own fault at the end of the day.

Just had a thought. Shall I write a note to SA and ask them to pass it on, explaining my reasons for dropping out and reapplying etc , or is that a bad idea ?

OP posts:
Peachy · 04/09/2007 12:29

They'll know if you had an interview, used to work at a college and I had to have a slip abck from the interviewer to enrol. PC system wouldn't allow unless I could confirm slip.

Call up and speak to either the Head of Admissions Services, or the Quality manager- both should be able to sort- and complain, this is appalling service. I know enrollment week is a nightmare for the staff, truly it is- nonetheless its their job and they ahve to be able to cope.

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 12:29

Ahh well good luck, will keep fingers crossed for you
