I have applied three times now, twice online, which I have email reciepts for and second time via post and they have lost all of the forms and have no record of me applying.........yeah right, what a coincidence.

They said go up and enrol anyway, but I know full well that they won't let you enrol unless you have had an interview.

Yeah it would really emma, plus they have been taken over by Sutton College anyway so I'd still have to apply through them. Well all the adult applications go through Great Barr they said.

Then try not to be defeatist & try & get in contact with the person who would have been interviewing you!

We knew the person who did the interviews was the tutor & so when I had to contact to rearrange the appointment I had a really good chat with him then & it was easier at the interview.

Try & get a contach number for the interviewer.

even if you call & ask for him/her. The secratary may ask if you want to leave a message (if they are unavailable) but you say "No thanks, actually do you have his direct contact line please, it might be easier that way?" This is what I always do when I need to speak to a certain person & not just anyone from a company.

The assessment, yeah have done it 3 times and never had a problem, result always the same A level level for English and crap at maths LOL.

if you want to do it you're going to nutty..

look i'm doing mine and i need you to do yours

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:24

Don't think I can do that FFF, just not up to arguing my way to a place if they don't really want to give me one.

I know what they will say, the course gets so many applications, why should they give me a place when I might well drop out within a few weeks, which is totally fair enough, however, they might at least have had the guts to tell me that.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:25

so they have the bloody monopoly on adult education for the whole of North Birmingham.

They are so disorganised aswell.

what day is enrolement.

I would contact them again today and whoever says to "just pop along on enrolement day"- take their name and role- go up to enrole and explain that you have been advised to just turn up.

I would imagine, judging by the chaos that I encountered on enrolement day- that they will just enrole you to start.

Remember they get money for each person starting, so unless you are unable to read or write- they are hardly likely to turn you away.

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 11:25

if i had some fuel in the car and wasn't having to work i'd be there taking you

you don't know if they are thinking anything like that at all it's a college not your best friend

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:26

I dunno, not sure I can take the rejection face to face tbh.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:29

Nutty- I imagine that they really have mislaid your applications- they really are that disorganised.

This is your future- something that you really want- Go and chase them

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 11:29

what day is the enrollment..

Fireflyfairy2 · 04/09/2007 11:29

Don't think they don't want you there nutty.. don't think like that!!

For a start, the girls in the office were probably only there over the summer & they don't know you from Adam. Anyway they would have no say in who gets on a course.

If you explained on the form what prevented you from taking your place the other years then there's no reason the tutor wouldn't interview you.

I would march down there with my head held high & take the place that you & we all know that you are more than capable of!

When does the course start?

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 11:29

if they were going to reject you they would have done..yes they are disorganised

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:29

Not sure tbh, the website isn't very clear, think it is possibly next week or week after, although that seems rather late.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:30

Its the week com 10th sept- so the enrolement should be the tuesday the 11th.

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 11:31

do you want to do this course?

tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:34

Go up nutty- my friend who is doing the access to teaching has just told me that enrolement is today till 8pm and tomorrow and next tues, weds, thursday.

keep us posted

Fireflyfairy2 · 04/09/2007 11:37

Are you far away from college nutty? If not then take a dander up, see what's happening. In my experience, if they are lying to you about lost forms, then you will know. It's much harder to keep up a lie face to face.

And if enrolement is taking place, chances are, so are interviews. Maybe you could have a quick word with the interviewer??

Ohh I want to go & take you there myself... this will do wonders for your confidence, and I suspect that's what you need!

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:39

I have ds with me every afternoon this week.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:40

Yeah but FFF if they are lying and they admitt that they are and why, then what ? I go home feeling crapper than I do now.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:41

They wont be lying- if they dont want you on the course then they will just say that you are not suitable- what do they gain from lying? they dont know you personally.

You can take ds with you- enrolement only takes a short while

nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:44

No I don't think the office staff are lying, but if my application was passed to SA then I am quite sure she could have made it dissapear into thin air.

OP posts:
nutcracker · 04/09/2007 11:44

I know I sound paranoid by the way.

OP posts:
tiredemma · 04/09/2007 11:45

phone and ask to speak to her to get some explanation then, at least then you will know.

zippitippitoes · 04/09/2007 11:45

no you nare prevariacting..or somthing undesirbale

take ds with you

NomDePlumeIsOffWorkToday · 04/09/2007 11:46

The only way you'll know for sure is by going down there and speaking to someone face-to-face.

Staying at home and stewing over it is just going to drive you round the twist.
