Wouldn't we all be a nightmare on a rare ladies only night out?!

SusiS · 27/09/2004 21:10

hihi that's a cute picture!!! - i had a look at them but it says "up to 10kg" - well and DS is a bit on the heavy side - past that mark

Judd · 27/09/2004 21:12

I just feed DS in his bouncy chair, or if we are out at somebody else's house, I feed him in his pram or the car seat. I can't do it if he is on my knee because he likes to suck his bib between each mouthful and I don't have a free hand to wrench it out!
Didn't know you were near Derby, Egypt. DH's parents are in Allestree, jolly nice place it is too.
Susi - am I right in thinking you are Austrian? Whereabouts are you from? I had a beautiful Austrain room mate when I lived in Italy - she looked just like Belinda Carlisle.
I'm just making an Annabel Karmel thing for DD - salmon and broccoli pasta sauce. Its gorgeous!!

Egypt · 27/09/2004 21:21

mm judd, bring me some when you are next up this way !

yeah, car seat or bouncy chair, perfectly good. i hold dd with her arm strapped against my body and the other one in my hand thats reached around her back. not easy!

hey judd i couldn't feed ds on lap either! i use bouncychair too at the moment but it sometimes gets really messy ; that's why i am thinking of getting a highchair and he could be same level too, also when we are eating; he is always excluded from that - salmon? fish ok for babies? have you got a good book? are you using a steamer?? oops just wondering because so far i feed ds "selfbought glasses" and he actually likes them - had cottage pie today! but i'd like to give homemade food a try - and yes i am austrian, from vienna - what have you been doing in italy??

Egypt · 27/09/2004 21:26

susi, judd and lots others recommend annable karmel's cook book. (hope you dont mind me butting in judd!) i am just looking for it on amazon now as i want one.

Dd2 slept for 3 hours this morning! I kept going in to check she was ok and she was fine but 3 hours my goodness the longest she usually manages is 2.

Took her for her jabs this afternoon and she got the 5 in 1 as they had that in and they didn't have any of the seperate dtap and hib as they'd had to send them all back.
Dh held her and the HV advanced with the needle, popped it into her leg and she didn't even FLINCH! No tears nothing! I asked the Hv if she had actually put it into her leg, was she sure it had gone into her leg, lol She doesn't seem any worse for wear after having it so now we just have to get the Men C and that's her all done until the preschool boosters.

Susi, I'm really looking forward to going to Chessington. Legoland was great last year dd1 loved it. Went on her first rollercoaster there and decided that she loved them and wants to go on more. We got dd2's passport photo's done in Jessops photo shop.

Spots, I'll try to pack accordingly. We've never been to London in October usually go in the summer. One year we were there in January for a wedding and although it was cold it wasn't as cold as Scotland.

Gerogina, good to hear that you've got something for your rash. What a worry about the bf though, I'm sure it'll be fine but I know how worrying it can be.

Got my 3rd driving lesson tomorrow. Prufrock will you have the use of a car after you pass your test? I look forward to being able to drive and being able to get to more places without having to rush all the time or leave really early. But we don't have a car, dh doesn't drive, so if or should I say When, trying to think positively, I pass my test we'll need to see about getting a car. Still I won't worry about that just now will just concentrate on learning.

Egypt · 27/09/2004 21:31

blimey thats a good stretch! dd has begun to have 1-2 hours in the morning now, which she never did before. mind you i never put her in her room before, so i guess thats helped.

i can't believe your dd was fine with her jabs. that must be so relieving. i dread dd's. she has them on weds. hate it so much. and dh is away that night too.

she is so sweet at the mo. as i was feeding her just 15 mins ago (yes she woke - didnt feed much at 7), she was rubbing the palm of her hand all over my chest the whole time. awwwwwww, love her xxx

Egypt · 27/09/2004 21:33

right going to set the video for without a trace and go to bed. yes i am a lazy cow, but a tired one and we could be in for another night of it! see you lot tomorrow.!

SusiS · 27/09/2004 21:36

how nice linnet 3 hours!!! i know when ds sleeps that long i go and check too - we usually go to chessington once a year (dp and me that is ) - but now we have to wait a bit longer! but i reckon it will be the more fun with ds!!! - good on you that you doing your drivers licence!!! oh i was just half a being without my car - since i've got it things are much easier and i get to go out more often and much easier - especially now with ds! - when's your test??

linnet · 27/09/2004 21:37

She usually only sleeps for 45 minutes in the morning then has a lunchtime nap at around 12pm which can last for 2 hours if I'm lucky but usually only lasts an hour.

I kept going to check on her as she's never slept that long during the day before. But I think because she'd got up at 6am for her first feed it sort of threw out her body clock. And she just had her long nap earlier in the day and for slightly longer than usual.

Dd2 has always been fine with her jabs. I always worry about her getting them but she's never had a problem. They gave us a prescription for Calpol when she had the first jab which we got but it's never even been opened. But it'll get used eventually for one thing or another so wasn't a waste to get it.

SusiS · 27/09/2004 21:42

allrighty, i am following egypts lead - setting video, feeding ds and off to bed - was a long day for me but hopefully a better night ahead than last one!
talk to you all tomorrow

linnet · 27/09/2004 21:44

Susi, my test probably won't be for a long while yet, only on my 3rd lesson.

prufrock · 27/09/2004 22:42

My test is 8th November, and i have bought a car today. A silver Peugeot 307 2.0 HdI 90bhp SE. It's 10 months old and only has 7,900 miles on the clock. DH can drive, but where we lived before there was no reason to, and as he's always at work there seemed little point in getting a car before. I did a mock test last week with my instructor and got 24 minors (you're allowed 15) but 11 of those were in the first 5 minutes which they apparently ignore. My problem though (like many other peoples) is that once I make one silly mistake I start to obsess about it and my driving goes to pot.

I still love my bumbo.

libb · 27/09/2004 22:53

Tests were easier to pass in my day . . . which makes me sound very old but I am only 31. Passed when I was just past 18 (rural Norfolk does that to a person - think Braveheart! give me freedom!) I gave up when I moved to Cambridge, am now living outside and have just re-started driving after 7 years.

I did drive home on New Years Eve from Cambridge as I was pregnant and I was given an ultimatum by DP - stay in Watford with DP's dodgy drinky druggy mate and angry wife to hear their latest argument or pop over to Cambridge with nice intelligent friends for a meal and a pootle home at the end - I faced my fears and won! I mean, sober and listen to an argument? or sober and listen to some sound (ish) debates?

Still get the heeby jeebies though so have only braved the odd Sainsburys run since - daft really when you consider how much I did drive many moons ago.

Ramble ramble . . .

OP posts:
SusiS · 28/09/2004 07:59

agreed libb, when you don't drive now and again you'll get "scared". not me though, i've always been driving since i've done my test years and years ago - but had the problem with my mum and my sister; both asked me after years not driving to come with them for a few rides to give them the confidence back! worked - prufrock: fingers crossed - hihi libb, just imagining "braveheart"; you with kilt

SusiS · 28/09/2004 08:06

well, last night was not as bad as night before but still ds woke 3 times to get up finally at 6.30! (1.30/4 bottle/5.30) will it ever get better??? - wow, but i am always impressed with his morning nappy! you could hurt someone by throwing it at them (sooooo heavy) - and how do you keep up with cutting nails????? every morning i find new scratches on him - but lately he starts playing with his toys - he grabs everything that he can get hold of and well, into his mouth ; but still, he can hold onto things really good now and when you give him a toy he give you a big grin - and also he is getting sooo vocal!!! really cute

Egypt · 28/09/2004 08:09

susi - just noticing how well you use the semi-colon! Obviously taught english the proper way! unlike me !

prufrock, i am dead jealous. that is exactly the car i wanted! we found a silver 307 hDi with 20k on the clock (couldnt afford a newish one) but the citroen xsara picasso beat it in dh's book as the 307 was only a 1.4 and the xsara a 2.0l. anyway, i was gutted as i really wanted the 307 and silver is my fave colour! being a girl and all that, the colour matters

had an awful night last night. dd woke at 9.15ish, 12, then wouldnt go back to sleep until i'd cuddled her loads. then 2, again needed cuddling. then 4, 6, 7. v v v v v v vknackered. and sposed to go to mother and baby this morning and baby massage this pm. i want to go as i dont know anyone around here, apart from the old girls at work. i need to get in with some mums ideally. i see them at bm, but they all meet at m&b and i dont want to be left out iyswim! we'll go at 10ish when dd usually has her sleep, then maybe she will misrepresent herself as a very easy baby in front of all the other mums!

yes rural norfolk does do that to you libb. even urban norfolk. " i have to get out of here!!!"

so how old are we all then
me - 30 in jan

Egypt · 28/09/2004 08:13

yes, dd is very vocal too. dh came out of the bathroom this morning, just about to say "so who's being tickled by mummy?" then realised i wasnt there! she kind of shrieks and shouts and creaks, very high pitched.

i dont know when all this waking business will end either susi. i really felt at my wits end this morning. i dont know what to do to be honest. she is waking far far more than she ever used to. have to admit i have started her weaning. i just dont know what else to do. i fear i am making her dependent on me to get to sleep too. when she wakes in the night i always feed her. i tried hard last night to just cuddle her if she had been fed 1-2 hours earlier, but she nearly bit my hand off. only wants the breast. i hope it gets better soon.

SusiS · 28/09/2004 08:41

oh! looking under table, looking in closet, looking behind chair "twiiiiiiiiigleeeeeeett, where are you???" - oh come on back here - there are far more people worth talking to and well, one or two worth ignoring - but don't ignore all of us

SusiS · 28/09/2004 08:45

oh btw - i didn't mean to ignore you egypt - i am 36 rollingeyes - can't believe it myself but for sure it doesn't feel like

spots · 28/09/2004 09:04

spots · 28/09/2004 09:06

Egypt, so sorry about your nights. DD still does this just as frequently as she doesn't, IYSWIM. remember everything's a phase right now.

and I am 31.
