Not really a mispronounce but daughter likes to tell the story of Handsome and Gretel

majorstress · 25/07/2007 12:03

DD1: Recent supply teacher was Canadanadian.

She used to say Matmos (tomatos) as in "No Matmos mummy." Do any kids like those?

DD2: Diveos are the movie discs we can watch on our tv.

WendyWeber · 25/07/2007 12:16

Diveos is brilliant - you should get that copyrighted!

ds currently says " bowsh" for 'mouse' (also involves very endearing, pouty-yet-earnest face) and he say a ballon at the weekend and shouted " Bab-boooon!"

Fireflyfairy2 · 25/07/2007 12:29

Snow Wipe & the 7 warps. [ds is 2 & half]

IntergalacticWalrus · 25/07/2007 12:31

DS1 used to say "Fat Cnt for fat controller. We used to get some looks, I tell you

IntergalacticWalrus · 25/07/2007 12:32

And he says "ateacock" for apricots

hufflebranpuff · 25/07/2007 12:33

DS (3yrs) calls his pterodactyl "pteronactyl".

He really likes the Little Princess books and we have been reading "I don't want to go to hospital" and he is infuriated that he can't say "hospital". It's so funny to hear as he tries lots of different ways but just can't get it. I think it's a tough word though, I remember having trouble with it as a child.

Twinkie1 · 25/07/2007 12:33

DS calls DH Kisth. Can't pronounce much at all rwally - luckily we know what he is saying because he has a terrible pronounced lisp - don't mind DH has a slight one and I find it quite attractive in a weird sort of way - detrats from his otherwise perfection - ha ha!

KnitterInTheNW · 25/07/2007 12:37

I've just thought of another that's just lovely. Afriend of a friend's ds decided that his mum's friend Lorraine was called 'rainlady'

sonicthegoldfish · 25/07/2007 12:53

When a Lithuanian boy joined DS's nursery Ds went round for days telling everyone that he had a new friend who was a Little Manian.

Acinonyx · 25/07/2007 14:02

Dd, 2yrs, pulled up her t-shirt this morning and pointed to her 'nippops' (nipples). JIll

DS2 says frain frack instead of train track. He doesn't usually have trouble with his Ts.

Rachmumoftwo · 25/07/2007 21:52

Younger DD asks for milk like a little kitten.
Mee-ilk

CrookshanksWhiskers · 25/07/2007 22:02

My dd1 used to call curtains c*nts

We were playing a game where I had to point at things (fire, telly etc) & she'd tell me what they were. Funnily enough I took to skipping past the window.

Dnephew used to miss out the 'l' in clock.

Squirtle · 25/07/2007 22:04

DS1 always used to look forward to a visit from Farmer Christmas. And the Nativity was all about baby Cheesus.

SkittlesAreFruitGroup · 26/07/2007 06:05

LMAO at some of these - great thread!

DS 2.9 says DVDV for DVD, F**ken Troller for Fat Controller (try telling that to Nana...), great beans for baked beans, and roley poley for ravioli.

maggymay · 26/07/2007 13:42

best one I remember was my sister when she was very young reading a notice in a lift which she read as "any one caught willfully damaging this lift will be prostituted" instead of prosecuted

Tinkjon · 26/07/2007 14:26

Caterpillar used to be 'tee-pee-peeyar'

Mog · 26/07/2007 14:29

Don't know if this one's been done, but youngest calls his bellybutton - his babybutton. much more appropriate actually!!!

poppyknot · 26/07/2007 14:36

Our family have an unerring habit of taking on board 'mis'pronuciations so tht they become the 'normal' way.

I had a friend who apparently called binoculars oscar-knockers.....

MuminBrum · 26/07/2007 14:40

When DS had chickenpox, he thought that each spot was a "chickypop" and that therefore he had chickypops.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 26/07/2007 14:40

'mowk' for milk
'chizz' for cheese
'oddies' for eggs
'deek' for snake (?!??)

'cot-wee'
'cock-berry'
we have not worked out what these are yet?!!
