Hi.

My name is Billy, I'm 31 and I'm from South Wales.

Sadly I lost my lovely wife to Leukaemia only a few months ago and now I am a single parent. Its hard for me but I am strong, and so determined to bring up my 2 beautiful children in a loving environment.

I know this is a 'mums' forum, but I'd really appreciate any tips help or feedback any of you can offer me.

I hope to talk to you soon

Kind regards

Billy

MrsBadger · 11/07/2007 20:20

Despite the fact it's called mumsnet, the strapline is still 'by parents for parents'.
And besides, you can type in whole words and sentences without resorting to textspeak, which puts you way ahead of many new posters ...

JetPeanut · 11/07/2007 20:20

Welcome Billy. Mumsnet is a great place to come and chat or get advice. So sorry to hear about your wife. That's very sad. It sounds like you have two very lucky children to have a Dad like you. Good luck.

Carmione · 11/07/2007 20:22

Sorry to hear about your wife Billy.

YOu will like it here I think. You are definately welcome.

I am sure the name of this site puts men off!

Desiderata · 11/07/2007 20:23

I'm very glad you've found us, Billy. It can get a bit feisty on here from time to time, but please don't ever feel excluded from any conversation. There are men on here too (there's even the Men's Room), but until people get to know you, it might be good to explain that you're a man. Girls can be girls, you know!

I'm in Bristol, not too far away. If you need anything, please let me know.

JetPeanut · 11/07/2007 20:24

Yep, great minds indeed!

eandh · 11/07/2007 20:24

welcome billy - am sorry to hear about your wife your kids sound like they have a great dad.

Do you have ds/dd or one of each?

LittleLupin · 11/07/2007 20:24

Hi Billy Welcome to Mumsnet... as Firenze says, it's a parenting site really, so you are definitely in the right place.

There is lots of support here on a wide variety of topics. I'm very sorry to hear about your wife and if you feel the need some night to just come on here and talk about it, there will always be a willing ear.

How old are your children?

We always leap on new posts with numbers in their names and encourage them to pick something more "them", but we might wait for you to post more than once for that! (by the way, we are all sporting "Harry Potter" versions of our normal names at the moment, just in case you were wondering!)

I'll say goodbye now, I'm sure one of the other dads who post on here will come along soon and drag you off to their lair in the "Mens Room"!
