Well, we have managed all day dry here, including several car journeys. Even a tiny 'pliplet' of poo on the loo last night. She has a set of Bob builder bricks she chose which are hers when she manages to get through 2 days with no accidents.

We will see...

i think the time has come for my and dd's passing out parade

we did a whole day in town with no accidents, she told me she needed a poo in sainsburys and held on for 45mins till I could get her to the toilet

we bought one of those travel potties from boots, very strange looks from passers by but I couldn't give a toss, she's potty trained!!!

can i have my stripes now cod?

so we are the dunces then
whole week has been disrupted by flu, first her then me - DH had to come home yesterday because I was so ill. he was in charge of her and predictably did nothing...
still bad today but don't feel like I'm going to die anymore so will start anew. meanwhile am wearing a hat with 'D' on it

mrsjc my dh is useless when it comes to helping with toilet training... you will get there, I am not ill or bf, but my ds is very challenging to say the least... I am marchinhg him to the loo regularly, he has some bladder/bowel control, but no interest in asking to go, I think we could be reaching an impasse soon... so we won't be graduating for a while either.

yawningmonster · 12/07/2007 04:13

hi mrsjc, if it makes you all feel better we are still a nappy dominated household here...

Mum: Look at these Bob Builder pants
DS: WOW, I wear those another time when I much bigger, they for big wee and pooh boys
Mum: Yes, your a big boy now and I have LOLLIES (which he never ever gets) which are for big boys who do wees and poohs on the toilet
DS: Not yet, when I a big boy, you keep lollies for me
Mum: There are some other special treats in this special toilet box, look monster trucks
DS: I going to really love those when I a big boy
Mum: You could have them today if you do wees and poohs on the toilet
DS: No thanks I wear nappies

He even tells his friends to choose a lollie or a treat when they come around and use our toilet!!

MrsJohnClaireCusack · 12/07/2007 07:06

oh yawningmonster that made me laugh!
am really hoping that when DD starts at preschool on Monday she'll twig a bit more (even if it is only one day a week). She also has sweets which she never gets otherwise and which I thought would prove irresistable, but no

however I do think this week was tricky because we are the House of Sick. so am going to continue tomorrow and over the weekend.

i think cod has lost interest and buggered off anyway

yawningmonster · 12/07/2007 08:58

hope everyone is starting to feel better in your house soon, as for toilet training bah humbug will try when he is 14 or so, he should be ready then and will be able to up the anti on the whole bribe thing by then

Tried bribing with sweets and ds has sat on the potty tiwce and did a pee in it last night! He was so pleased with himself. Hopefully if it carries on like that for another few days he'll then want to wear pants.
Yawning monster - we've got Bob the Builder pants too. Your ds sounds very like mine.

JoshandJamie · 12/07/2007 12:48

Haven't had time to read recent updates but thought I'd quickly add a tip that's working well with us. As Cod originally suggested, instead of asking, just take them. However, my little thug tends to fight against that. So now we 'fly to the moon in a rocket ship' or we go 'put a fire out in our fire engine going nee nah'

And it works a treat. Now that he thinks it's a big game, he's happy for me to take him however often. ONly challenge is he's now calling wees moons instead. But I know what he means.

Am slightly apprehensive about leaving nappies off today as he had a huge amount of curry for supper last night and he hasn't pooed yet today. Oh goody.

JoshandJamie · 12/07/2007 12:52

I should add that this technique of flying to the toilet did not work with DS1 who is a very sensitive soul and it just scared him. DS2 is far more into excitment - so bribery with buttons means nothing to him but flying upside down to the loo is brilliant. So you need to take your child's nature into account

well done myjobis

well my ds is doing okay, when I said I was going to the loo today he went ahead of me stood up to the toilet held his willy and did a huge pee, I really think he is getting the hang of going to the loo

two alfresco pees, "i am peeing" he said

and no poo, he was very wriggly, but I just have to try and stay relaxed....

I was worried you had flounced Cod! Glad to see you back on here.

Yesterday went well. We had 6 wees in potty, one wee on floor, with a few hours of cheating as DS went to soft play. He really enjoys going now generally IYSWIM. A big smile spreads across his face when he wees and he gets frustrated if he can't ('come on wee wee!). Today I was thinking I should reduce the amount of times I take him gradually? So once an hour rather than half hourly?

fishie · 13/07/2007 10:15

cor mrsjc i'd hvae given up by now, you are brave.

right we hvae said byebye nappies and are off to story time at library in a sec. one poo one wee in pot. he hasn't had any accidents yet as hasn't had any clothes on so doesn't understand concept. not looking forward to wet pants.

will buy super special sweeties for wees on loo.

what should i be aiming for in terms of really big bribe? or just carry on with sweeties?

fishie · 13/07/2007 10:21

aargh he has widdled on floor while i was typing. serves me right.

FlossALump · 13/07/2007 10:23

I've found thats always the way too fishie. DS just asked to use potty! Think he is rather enjoying the sweeties a little too much...

MrsJohnClaireCusack · 13/07/2007 10:26

oh well done everyone else

I think DD is holding it in on purpose TBH
we sat on the loo for ages today having a lovely chat, drawing, singing etc. and no wee

about 10 seconds after we left the bathroom, she did a huge explosive wee all over the floor, my shoes, nearly DS etc.

she did the same later too, then took the opportunity to wee after her bath and then poo in her nightime nappy
