Well apparently he did two wees on the potty, one on the slide and one on the jungle gym. She then put a pull up on him - just in time because apparently he did a poo which he really won't do on the potty yet.

She said she was happy to leave him nappy free at her home but when she goes out, she needs to put him in one. Not sure how much to press the issue because to be honest, I haven't been brave enough yet to go out without putting him in one yet - and I only have one other child to look after.

Anyway, will keep on trucking.

fishie · 10/07/2007 14:13

cod do you recommend weeing standing up at loo? how to sit small bottom securely without falling in? i think if i were more confident about positioning him he'd be more confident about using it. one of ours is very high old style too.

I'd like to join the training camp but not sure if ds wants to! He's just turned 3 and he knows when he needs but insists on wearing nappies. Went shopping and let him choose pants in the hope that he might wear them but it's just not happening. He refuses to sit on the potty or toilet at home but will sit on it at nursery. He goes to nursery 4 days a week but they are very pro-active in potty training.
Any suggestions?

FlossALump · 10/07/2007 14:29

He was happy with the muffin he was half way through. Got a sticker for his chart. Seem to find that various rewards work better than just one kind IYSWIM? Time to go and try again!!

Belgianchox · 10/07/2007 15:03

Mrs Coops - does your DS have a face teddy or something like that? That was what helped my DD, i would put teddy on the potty first, pretend he was having a wee, and then ask her if she wanted to show him how it was done when Ted was unsuccessful! Sounds daft, but it really worked for us, and my dd did not want to know about the potty either - she would go and fetch a nappy when she needed to go.

I hate fecking toilet training

DS1 hasn't a clue

Still at the having tanrtum stage every time he sits on the loo after 5 days, despite bribery with sweets/stickers etc etc etc

God, I'm fed up.

MrsCoops · 10/07/2007 15:10

Feel at the moment if I force him to wear pants he'll have a massive tantrum. Maybe I need to offer sweets to get him in pants to start with.

Lucycat · 10/07/2007 15:27

Have you all noticed how we've had children going to the bank, to school and back, round the shops and no accidents!!

yet they piss all over the floor at home ergo get them out of the house!

Lucycat · 10/07/2007 15:28

btw I sympathise entirely - toilet training is the worst bit of parenting - bar none -

well until they turn into hormone ravaged teenagers.

Belgianchox · 10/07/2007 15:45

My dd always did much better outside the house - as if she knew that an accident outside would be difficult to deal with but at home not a big deal

we have had 4 stand up pees at the loo, no more accidents since this morning, ds went outside for over an hour playing with sand, in the "pirate ship" and the hammock, singing and playing with chalk, when we came in he went to the loo twice before doing a stand up pee... he has done a poo in his pants, but it wasn't too stressful.... today has been a better day, still extremely stressful.

ds sat on the toilet with the seat and lid down..... I feel like we are making slow progress he will not sit on the open loo yt

mrscoops I am not very qualified to offer advice... but the first couple of days are easier without pants, they are not great at stopping puddles and are pretty gruesome when it comes to poo, if it isn't raining I would go in rhe garden for a few hours?

FlossALump · 10/07/2007 17:27

IGW - DS wouldn't have anything to do with the loo. I know Cod's not keen but what about trying with the potty again? What I have found most helpful has been saying if you don't sit on potty beebies will go off (if its on)- I'm sure thats very far from ideal but only have to give a light warning and its enough. He's starting to be pleased with himself for going too which I'm sure is going to make a difference soon?? our score for today potty vs floor is 5/3 to the potty. Nappy is going on now as doing big supermarket shop. I'm not a very good student am i?

sputnik · 10/07/2007 17:57

can I enroll too? Started the potty training on saturday, bought new pants, bribes offered etc. no sucess whatsoever.
Monday at nursery they got a result 3 times, then she came home and pooed in the potty (cue cheering, chocolate AND small box of duplo) but peeed on floor twice. She'll sit on the potty with a bit of persuasion, is increasingly reluctant if she needs to pee. At one point she said she was frightened of the potty, ideas anyone?

MrsJohnClaireCusack · 10/07/2007 22:02

evening success in fishie house.

  1. sat on loo for ages (did not produce anything but he was quite happy to be there)
  2. poo in pot + 3 wees. one minor accident but dp was in charge so i blame him.

i am getting quite excited about friday and going out without nappies.

fab day here, so far, ds has been Mr. Drypants so far, we even went along to the nearest shop, though I did feel a bit panicky, he walked back and went to the loo for a pee when we got home...

copingwithmotherhood · 11/07/2007 14:06

My DD is 2 at the end of this month. She has previously done 2 tiny dribbles on the potty, but thats it. She was showing a lot of interest and asking to sit on potty. I have started to put her in knickers while we are in but she has lost interest. When I ask if she wants to do a wee she just ignores me and eventually does it on the floor. Do you think that she is not ready yet?

Aefondkiss · 11/07/2007 17:51

1 pair of wet pants, feel very chuffed with our progress here... just hope that he will start to be aware of the urge to go soon...?
