I wouldn't know Kristina either, Sorry

KristinaM · 12/09/2004 21:31

Oh no I thought you guys would be the experts on cr*p

Seems ok today though. Assume the mustard poos are normal for BF baby?

Mustard poos definitely normal. Some variation probably normal too. If you're worried you can always ask ask your GP/HV?

Second that re normal - mustard, green, brown & all shades thereof; dd2's at the mo vary between mustard and olive green. I imagine variation is just a product of the different levels of bacteria in the gut, and how long the bacteria get to work on the contents before baby fills nappy.

not looking forward to the changes that come with solids - bf poo is just so innocuous...

dot1 · 13/09/2004 08:51

Ds's poos have always been 'grown up' poos - dark brown and solid..!! Even when he was breastfed - we've never had the lovely mustardy poos... I spoke to the HV but she was unconcerned...

ds is finally sleeping through now - 7pm - somewhere between 6am - 7am (obviously love him more when it's nearer 7am )

Coming to work almost seems normal now - we've all slotted into a routine quite quickly and now we've done a whole week it feels like just another Monday morning - don't know whether to be relieved or sad about this. But have booked a long weekend off at the beg. of October as a reward for being back for a month, and I've already booked my Christmas leave - 12 days off!!

dolbear · 13/09/2004 09:57

Good morning - ds poos seem to be a little like tar now is on a few solids it sticks to EVERYTHING - nice
sorry to hear about the cold , so far have been realy lucky , but ds off to nursary one day a week soon and have been told to expect him to pick up everything that is around so that will be something to look forward to !!

MrsDoolittle · 13/09/2004 10:31

Dd is okay, poor thing is so snuffly though. When I picked her up this morning, her face was smeared with dried up snot!!! Lovely.
Kristina, I should have thought. Dd's poos were often green, a GP told me that they come and go. Poos are defiantely solid now, atleast they roll of the nappy. Watch out for swede though, makes very obnoxious smelling poos

dolbear · 13/09/2004 11:02

mmm - lovely
not a prob @ this hse ds will not each veg , only fruit based food , love baby fromage f , and not alot else , trying not to worry , and please that he is eating anything at this stage I guess , just won't tell the HV !

Metrobaby · 13/09/2004 11:18

I'm just getting over a cold myself. Think that there must be something going around or the change of weather. ds is a bit snuffly but not as bad.

Glad to hear that those of you have returned to work are settling in nicely .

ds's poos vary all the time. For a start he only poos every 2-3 days and sometimes they are mustardy yellow and sticky but gloopy, and other times they are like grown up ones. Whenever he does one though it is always accompained by much grunting and groaning!

LucyJones · 13/09/2004 11:26

Ooh poo talk!! My ds poos about 2-3 times a day!! I'm trying to get him on to more solids and less milk at the moment as the hv said he needs to be on a pint of milk a day by the time he's 6 months. He's bottle fed and has twice that. So far I'm giving him 4 7oz bottles and just introduced cooled boiled water with his lunch (he was on 5 7oz bottles before).

dot1 · 13/09/2004 12:30

ds is going through Milumil quicker than we can buy it..! He has 3 x 7 oz bottles, 1 x 8 oz and 1 x 4 oz each day..! It used to be more -the 4 oz one is for his Weetabix - that used to be 6 oz when he was on baby cereal, but the Weetabix fills him up more so we've been able to cut down on the milk a bit! I reckon he has about another few ozs in with each meal - but I slosh a bit of organic full fat milk in..!

Sorry - hugely boring - can you tell I'm on my lunch break?!

MrsDoolittle · 13/09/2004 13:24

Ladies?
do you have any advice?

hewlettsdaughter · 13/09/2004 13:25

Lowryn - I like the pixie pic

Metrobaby · 13/09/2004 14:09

I like Lowyrn's photo too. Lowryn can I ask what camera you have? You take very good photos - are you a photograghy buff by any chance?

handlemecarefully · 13/09/2004 14:14

Kristina,

I was worried about my dd's poo when she was a baby - GP told me not to worry; they can be all "colours of the rainbow" (I think he was exaggerating - i.e. pink poo? - I think not) - but you get the drift....

Metrobaby - baby ds occasionally 'refuses' to go back to sleep after waking in the early hours for a feed. He has done it on a handful of occasions. I have resorted to taking him for a 3.00 am car ride (in my dressing gown!) - which sounds extreme, but I figure its better than being up with him for the next two hours. I deal with mild wakefulness by putting him in bed with us - he finds this very exciting and enjoys pulling my hair for 10 minutes before drifting off.

Dh and I are off to Rome this Saturday (returning next Wednesday) and I am beginning to dread it. We are leaving the children you see! Dh qualified for this all expenses paid trip through work (he reached certain targets)and they don't allow you to take your children. I am worried about dd (my 2 year old) stressing out over my absence. Will feel intensely guilty about leaving her...less so about leaving baby ds because he is not at that clingy stage yet.

A secondary worry is that they will be a few other couples their and I bet the wives are all slim, well turned out and gorgeous (not recently having had a baby)and don't look like a bag of spanners (like me!)

MrsDoolittle · 13/09/2004 14:28

HMC, Lol at 'bag of spanners' - that's a new one to me
Lowryn, I am also impressed by your cute pixie picture, is it digital?. Looking at all these babies makes me want to go and pick mine up

Fennel · 13/09/2004 19:07

Mrs D, saw your highchair thread. I have 2 Tripp trapp chairs but can't see any reason why the Tchibo isn't as good for 1/3 the price.
my dsis has an East Coast one which is very similar, wooden etc, for about £50 too, and has a tray too.

I wouldn't know anything about baby poo, DP does all that (and when he's at work the baby just waits

HMC enjoy Rome, I'm sure it'll be easier not to feel guilty when you get there. and with any luck the other wives will be all frumpy and dumpy without the excuse we all have!

Lowryn · 13/09/2004 19:31

Ahh, thank you!
Yup, camera is digital. It's a Canon 10D (slr with 6 megapixels)DH bought it for me when we were more affluent () and now expects me to make some money with it. I think DH took the pixie photo, so maybe I should tell him to go out and make the money!

Mr Lowryn, available for weddings, christenings and Bar Mitzvahs!

MrsDoolittle · 13/09/2004 20:22

HMC we could swap, if you really didn't want to go

MrsDoolittle · 13/09/2004 20:25

I look like a bag of basketballs!!

Lowryn · 13/09/2004 20:27

HMC, my DH "won" an all expenses paid trip to New York last year with his work...I had the same fears about leaving DD and as I was pg with DS I thought all the other wives would look all glam, and there would be dumpy dowdy old me.

Anyway problem solved...My mum wouldn't look after DD so we couldn't go

Fennel · 13/09/2004 20:32

You should all pair up with computer programmers like DP. his colleagues don't have glam wives or partners, just star trek club memberships.

but in his other job, windsurf instructor, they're mostly 20 year old himbos with stilletoed blond leggy girlfriends. I don't really relish either of his work xmas parties.

MrsDoolittle · 13/09/2004 20:34

Ouch Fennel

Lowryn · 13/09/2004 20:37

fennel!
In my old job I purchased IT equipment and people had to give damn good reasons why they wanted stuff. One particularly geeky computer programmer said that they needed a laptop as they stayed over at their girlfriends a lot...I couldn't believe that this social misfit had a girlfriend, so it was my great shock to be introduced to a rather articulate gorgeous redhead at the next company do!
I still think he "hired" her for the event!

KristinaM · 13/09/2004 22:07

OOOH you guys are getting SSSOOO bitchy
Thnaks for the poo info. I just knew that you would be the experts.

Mrs d - have you decided on the highchair? Am watching your thread with interest as need to buy one soon (one we had for for DD2 is dead).

Am much more interested in hall carpet at the moment though, as am getting a new one on the insurance and dont knwo what to get

any advice?
