Nice idea Yorkiegirl . Two of us live in Oxford.
Hope you're on that plane...

dot1 · 09/09/2004 08:46

No baby talk in the office at all for me - I manage the IT and finance teams - mainly men who I don't think noticed I'd actually left... None of them have asked how I am/about the baby - what are they like?!! Couple of women colleagues though who've been to see the photos on my wall and asked appropriate questions!

Maybe we could meet up in Birmingham next Spring?!

hewlettsdaughter · 09/09/2004 08:56

I would love it if we met up in Birmingham - haven't been for years (was a student there).
Dot - I'm disappointed in your male colleagues. Do none of them have families?

Kristina - was wondering where you were Thought we'd lost you again.
Fabulous pictures hey? HD your little girl has really grown and she looks more like you now Dd is in nursey now as I am 'working' but it would be great for us together soon. They all look so advanced and Fennel, your dd is quite different to the pictures on your website, your girls look lovely.
I think an April babies meetup is an excellent idea - HD and I could come together.
Where is everyone else?

hewlettsdaughter · 09/09/2004 10:22

MrsD - do you think she does? I can never see it myself.
How are you feeling about leaving dd at nursery now?

MrsDoolittle · 09/09/2004 10:26

At the moment it's fine HD - she is only 'down th road'. She would get really bored with me here now.
I think its Issy's nose and mouth are taking on a shape that remind me of you. I haven't see ds.

MrsDoolittle · 09/09/2004 10:28

Everyone one who sees dd says, "oooh don't you look like Mummy?" Can't see it myself either.

hewlettsdaughter · 09/09/2004 10:32

I supopse we don't see ourselves as much as other people do...

dot1 · 09/09/2004 10:43

ds looks scarily like me - my Mum came round with some photos of me at his age and in a couple it was hard to tell who was who! He's got v. long eyelashes and looks quite 'pretty', so could be mistaken for a girl - in fact if I don't dress him in blue people sometimes ask in supermarkets, etc...!

ds1 looks just like my dp, but the other day we saw their dad who showed us a photo of him as a child and ds1 is starting to look like him! All very strange - I think 'cos we don't see their dad v. often (maybe about once every month or so) we don't notice as many similarities?

Fennel · 09/09/2004 12:42

Dot - the men in my workplace totally ignore baby stuff too. One told my friend that he thought it was a shame I'd got pregnant as I'd looked better (ie thinner) before! (his wife has just kicked him out, serves him right...)

dd3 looks just like dd1 did as a baby. dd2 looks like me when she's stropping, according to my dsis

HMC, I know that frustration very well. today all 3 are at school or nursery and I feel so free! I am supposed to be working but took the morning off and went cycling, to circuit training and shopping in the sunshine. ON MY OWN. bliss

Tickle · 09/09/2004 16:05

lovely photos all - have sent one yg, but you're probably already sunning yourself

typing one handed, as multi-tasking ("guzzle guzzle" says dd2) ...trying to sort out her passport at the mo to visit family in uk.

Metrobaby · 09/09/2004 19:19

This thread has been busy since everyone's returned to work now . Talking of which, I saw my manager today to ask about going part time and it went very well so I'm happy now. I really missed ds as it's the first time I've left him for so long - but he was fine. In fact i don't think he even noticed !

I'm based in the south-east - just outside London. Meeting up in Birmingham sounds like a good idea.

Thanks for the album yorkiegirl. It look great. I'll send you one once you get back from your hols. Let us know how it went.

I can never tell whether dd and ds look like me or dh. When ds was born i thought he looked exactly like dd. Lots of people say he looks like me, and that dd looks like dh.

hewlettsdaughter · 09/09/2004 19:50

Metrobaby - my dd reminds me most of my ds when he was her age. When she wears his cast-offs I get a real sense of deja-vu.

Fennel · 09/09/2004 19:50

That's great about being able to work part time metrobaby. have you been full time between dd and ds? how many days do you hope to do?

ds now up 6.30-8am ish getting hungry I think!
will try and catch up more often !

Metrobaby · 10/09/2004 13:38

dolbear glad to see you are back. I was wondering where you'd got to. You sound like you have a lot on your plate too.

Fennel - I'll be going in everyday but doing shorter hours. this will be in preparation for when dd starts school. I want to be able to finish early enough to pick her up. When dd was born I went back, working 3 days a week. Then unfortunately when she was 18 months I was made redundant. I managed to find a new job afterwards but this meant I had to go back full time until I became pg with ds.
ds over the last few days has been very unsettled. I have no idea why. He's also started to wake up during the night (around 4am) and then refuse to go back to sleep. I'm hoping this is a one off as I'm tired now. Don't know if he is going through a growth spurt or teething or something else.

MrsDoolittle · 10/09/2004 15:19

Hi dolbear - Sorry things aren't so good for you at the moment. Makes me feel bad when I moan on here.
My first full day teaching and I am knackered. I am going home now and I'm missing dd. She was awake most of last night too, which is very unusual, I don't know why. I was furious with dh this morning, who woke dd up initially coming in very p**d after going to the pub for a leaving do. He snored all night and slept through dd grumbling. Then the muppet said, "You have to take me into work this morning I have left my car there" !!!!!To which I retorted "I don't think so!!"

dolbear · 10/09/2004 16:00

good for you mrs D - ha ,
commited terrible crime the other day , left ds asleep on sofa , heard him wake , but b-4 i could get 2 him he had rolled off and landed on his nose !!!!! bless he was not amused , lesson learnt never leaave him alone of the sofa now !!!

hewlettsdaughter · 10/09/2004 20:01

Funny you should say that dolbear - last night dd was asleep face down on dh's chest as he was stretched out on the sofa. He fell asleep too, and then she rolled off onto the floor! Luckily there was a rug there...
Metrobaby - I am probably going back to work 5 days - at least 3 of them I will finish early to pick ds up from school (dh will do the other 1 or 2 pick-ups).

MrsDoolittle · 12/09/2004 10:14

Dd has a nasty cold, which probably explains why she has 'not been herself' She has been refusing her food and bottles. Atleast I know what the problem is now though. It's funny how much we take a cold for granted, I think. The poor wee thing doesn't know why she can't breath, obviously doesn't know that sniffing will clear her nose (although I hate sniffing Lots of green stuff this morning - Eeeeewww

KristinaM · 12/09/2004 13:54

Hi all. Hope you are surviving colds and being back at work. Can I ask a disgusting question?? I mean..who else can i ask??????

DD dirty nappies are always like mustard in colour and consistency.Yesterday i got a dark brown poo same consistency. What does this mean? Should I be worried?

Baby is still Bf with top up of formula ( about 4-8oz per day). Havent changed forula or my own diet.
