SAHM's...what have you actually done today?

PregnantGrrrl · 21/05/2007 13:01

Despite the fact that my house never seems to look really clean or tidy, i am amazed at how much i have got done already today.

  • Took DS to doctors/chemists
  • Emptied dishwasher
  • Made us both lunch, then picked DS's up from the floor
  • re-filled dishwasher
  • Put washing on line
  • Washed more clothes
  • Picked up CDs and DVDs after DS (again!)
  • Picked up toys (again!)
  • Made some bottles up and not forgetting, found time to potter on the net.

No wonder the days where i go out to work seem soooooo much easier!

Twig - I sent dh for milk in his lunch hour

Twiglett · 21/05/2007 14:58

tbh the milkman comes on Tuesday at about 7am and I'm sure we can last till then but DH will be totally scathing when he gets the call at 6 asking him to pick some up

well it started raining and I'm wearing sandals

Gobbledigook · 21/05/2007 14:59

Well then of course you can't go to the shop!

Oh, I'm always emailing dh with a little list of shopping. He never complains. It's more than his life is worth

Have had a lovely day

Got up at 815
Got myself and dd ready
Did one load of washing
Went to my friends for lunch at 11
Played with dd and friends ds
Chatted, ate and drank loads of brews
Just home and put dd to bed
About to make tea

Got loads to do but surely that's the joy of being a SAHM you can always do it tomorrow!

Twiglett · 21/05/2007 16:03

I got mi-ilk, I got mi-ilk .. got in on school run .. don't have to get DH to get it .. so no scathing looks

unfortunately we've run out of bread so he's going to have to go get that

allgonebellyup · 21/05/2007 16:09

oh. my. god.

mozhe · 21/05/2007 16:41

I don't understand this thread....why are you doing this ?

Ladymuck · 21/05/2007 16:51

I knew that there was something missing in my life - I don't have any seedlings. Am I too late?

lucyellensmum · 21/05/2007 16:59

oh my good bloody god!!! (pardon the blasphemy but come on girls, we are trying to portray being a SAHM, nurturing and stimulating our LOs as a positive thing to do - for me, it is not about being a domestic slave. Uh uh, i have DP for that, he can put the toys away when i put DD to bed. For once, i agree with Mohze (and it is only once ) is there a point to this? Yeah, im just bitter cos im a lazy bint and have done bugger all apart from take dd to music group, a bit of washing up, brunch in coffe house with DP and DD and sat the rest of day on my arse whilst dd has her nap. I am lazy and i dont care, i am lazy and i don't care!

ProfYaffle · 21/05/2007 17:03
  • Made breakfast
  • Got me, dd1 and dd2 dressed (dd2 is 12 weeks old and getting both girls ready still feels like hard work!)
  • Put washing on line
  • Put nappy wash on
  • Did playdough with dd1
  • Numerous nappy changes/bfs
  • Boinging Amby Hammock/bouncing chair to get dd2 to sleep (repeat 1,000,000 times)
  • Took dd1 to music class and the park
  • Did shopping for tea
  • Put nappies on line
  • Brought all the washing back in when it started raining
  • E-mailing Nappy Lady about missing poppers on nappies
  • Played Honey Bee Tree game with dd1
  • Currently cooking dd1's tea (only sausage and sweetcorn, all I can manage at the moment!)
lucyellensmum · 21/05/2007 17:11

no really STOP it is not helping!

ProfYaffle · 21/05/2007 17:16

Normally, I'm with you LEM but dd2 has forced me off my arse somewhat.

mozhe · 21/05/2007 17:21

Again...why are people doing this ? It's like a ridiculous competition of sorts...now all go off and read an improving book..

ProfYaffle · 21/05/2007 17:25

Why not do this? Why post on anything? Why do people post about what they're doing for tea? Why do people post on the numerous 'pointless polls' that go on?

And guess what? I read improving books ! Just not as often as I'd like to ....

lucyellensmum · 21/05/2007 17:25

is that like one of those "self help books" have you written one? oh god, im drowning!!!

Now personally i would be worrying about all this list making behaviour (save you worrying about my lack of self esteem!), that can't be normal can it. Actually, when i was doing my phd, before i sold out to domestic drudgery, i used to make lists of stuff to do - tick off the first few and then throw the list in the bin and bugger off down the pub! Now i just watch the piles of clothes, toys and dirty cups grow around me - hmmm, i need help -0 yes, a cleaner maybe

mozhe · 21/05/2007 17:37

lucyellen you are wasted in sahmdom, come and work for me ? What's your ph.d ?

beckybrastraps · 21/05/2007 17:48

Um. Bugger all.

Should be writing an assignment. Am getting sidetracked wondering what all the flouncing is about...

SueBaroo · 21/05/2007 17:54

Actually, I enjoyed the idea of this thread because I've been struggling with PND, and it helped to actually write down what I had managed to do, instead of just feeling a complete waste of space. Sorry if that's a bit too twee.

PeppermintStick · 21/05/2007 17:56

I think it's interesting to see what other people do!

From now on I suppose I'll try to work out an original poster's malicious hidden agenda, remind myself that as a parent I am supposed to see everything as a competition and try to make myself top of the heap, obviously only the SAHM heap because I should also be berating myself for being a loser SAHM who comes on a site and makes a list.

Why did I even bother starting to post here, I'll just leave and let you oldbies bring your endless circular arguments to every single thread.

rolledhedgehog · 21/05/2007 18:01

Got up.
Got kids ready for nursery drop-off.
Did a quick tidy.
Took DS to nursery.
Came back to house with 4 friends and their 2 year olds for a mini-celebration for DD's 2nd birthday.
Went to supermarket.
Picked DS up from nursery.
Home for lunch.
Another tidy up.
Made cakes with the kids.
Tidied-up kitchen while kids watched Noddy DVD.
Had a nice sit-down and a cup of tea and waited for DH to come home.
