Hello All,
I applied for my son to join the modelling agency m0del (the O isn't a letter it's number zero) and he got selected. He his 5 month and 3 weeks.

I know I should of done the research beforehand however I can't find much info on the agency now and to find info is from the website only. Has anyone come across this website. I applied through Facebook.

Let me know Smile
Thanks
Nas

Too many to mention, I think. You only choose those who are known tricksters, it would appear.

000000blue · 11/03/2016 23:04

Surely the point is to save people from the tricksters by promoting the reputable?

Woods28 · 12/03/2016 07:28

The point is that the majority of reputable agencies for babies/children never ask for money up front and never ask to see a portfolio. If any agency asks for money for photos or upfront fees then the chances are they are a scam. Some agencies representing children will ask for a small fee for administration to set a profile up, which I believe a lot do, but not for photo shoots. Reputable agencies will offer you a 30 day cooling off period, after you have signed a contract with them, m0del do not mention a 30 day cooling off period, therefore breaking the law.
Finally, reputable agencies DO NOT make you feel pressurised into buying pictures and DO NOT tell you that unless you buy them they can not represent your child.

There are hundreds of reputable agencies out there, I have learnt to read up on the agency, check Facebook, Twitter and reviews from other people that have used them. I would NEVER part with any money without doing a lot of research.

That's helpful Woods28 - who are you signed to now and have you had any success? What did you need to provide initially by way of photos?

wheeze65 · 12/03/2016 15:51

Blue, you really need to brush up on your reading skills.

Nibornomel · 16/03/2016 23:35

Scammed by adora in the summer of 2014, it sickens me that this is allowed to continue, the elaborate message to endorse this joke of an agency from this blue character followed up by mandymoo are utter crap.... I was sent the exact same confirmation emails form adora and m0delagency.... Not one word changed.

They were not professional, i was made to wait 2 hours, I was told to buy the photos or I wouldn't be accepted into the agency.... Then never heard from them again. Adora disappears, m0del agency appears... Same emails, same rude responses.... People need to read these reviews before they are victims... Don't listen to blue or mandymoo... Talking utter crap! Listen to the people have been promised and ripped off!

wheeze65 · 17/03/2016 08:11

M0del are being very coy in naming their company the way they have. If you do a search for model (as I did), nothing comes up! You had to replace the zero with an o before you could see the bad reviews, by which time it was too late for my daughter!

CliveHurst · 17/03/2016 18:48

Few victims have contacted their MP. Why is this? Everyone shouts about being scammed, but so few are willing to do anything about it. Why is this? The ONLY reason why you have all been scammed - is that there are no regulations in place, to stop such crooked operators!

Write to your MP and copy me in - on [email protected] If you do nothing - then nothing will happen. It is as simple as that. Click/copy & paste this link: Half way through the video we had BIS Minister Pat McFaddon claiming in 2008/9 that there would be unlimited fines. But in 20 years nobody has been fined. That is why there are so many crooked outfits preying on you and your children.

Today one victim contacted me today, who was in MP Pat McFaddens constituency. I have put this MP under pressure, to do something.

I spoke to BBC Radio 4 today who outed Blackberry Models scam in January this year. Sadly they are unwilling to put the latest BIS Minister on their programme. Why?

You all have to tell the BBC - that you are ALL fed up with these crooked outfits. I cannot do this - solely on my own.

Nothing will change, unless YOU do something about it - to stop it...

Nibornomel · 17/03/2016 23:00

Very well said... Everyone needs to speak out.

WetDogLovesHubert · 18/03/2016 20:19

I emailed my MP about this. Whilst entirely sympathetic, their response was as below. I won't name the MP because I don't see the need, and to protect myself.

I am concerned to hear about how you and other have suffered from this scam conducted by M0del, whilst unfortunately (your mp) cannot get directly involved in this matter, as this is a legal matter and as an MP, cannot get involved with legal matters.

However I can refer you to the Citizens Advice Bureau, where you can report the scam to the Trading Standards department. here they will investigate the matter and decide how to tackle problem. If they do, they will contact you for more information and evidence. Depending on what they find out, they may take action to stop the trader from acting.

See below for link to the CAB to report to Trading Standards,

Although(your mp) cannot get directly involved, we are happy to offer any Help and support with this ongoing issue, and if you have any queries with this or any other matter please don't hesitate to contact us.

I am working through FB to warn others, and help those who have been scammed. Someone suggested to me that it would be worth contacting the companies M0del say they have worked with to warn that their good names are being linked to these fraudsters. As there is no visual evidence of this happening, I'm not sure it could be effective. But worth a try? Mothercare and Mamas and Papas were name checked to me.

CliveHurst · 18/03/2016 23:11

Your MP can put a question in the House of Commons - calling for action on this issue. Your MP can write to the Cabinet BIS Minister concerned, namely Sajid Javid, asking what is to be done about such crooks who keep setting up under a new agency name, who cannot be traced. But, the crooked photographers behind the scam can be traced. An Early Day Motion (EDM) can be tabled, asking for other MP's to sign it. That again can bring the matter higher on their agenda.

Why has Employment Agencies Standards never taken court action or fined an agency who charges fees, before the offer of work. Not a single fine or prosecution in 20 years? How can that be. Astonishing!!!

Ask why the photography cooling off period, is worthless. The agents claim to have paid for the photographers. So why are you lumbered with the bill? This is misrepresentation. This is fraud, by the firms of photographers.

One MP got the local police involved. Trading Standards & Action Fraud have done nothing. I have been told, that those behind NYC Studios/Aspire Photography, set up their own finance company, called Simply Finance Solutions Ltd. So they are ALL the same people.

I have also been told that they have set up a new agency called www.modelsuniversal.com - doing the exact same scam. My thanks to the whistle blower who knows them and the person who passed these details on to me. Keep it coming.

Don't accept being fobbed off, call for action against such crooks. You deserve better. MP's determine what the regulations are and who you should be protected from, Yes, I mean crooked agencies/photographers. Remind your MP you are counting on him/her to raise the issue in Parliament - on behalf of you the constituent.

Put pressure on those who have a responsibility to you - the constituent!

wheeze65 · 27/03/2016 16:46

I emailed my MP, Clive, I think I did copy you in but it was some time ago now. I've not heard a single word in response.

CliveHurst · 27/03/2016 17:14

Ring them up is my suggestion. Another 2 victims contacted me over Easter and are willing to speak out also. See my response from BIS Minister Nick Boles and my reply. Do you think I will win a popularity contest??? An 'agency' that no one can find??? :(

Hi! Very stupidly did exactly the same today! Reported it to my bank but wonder if the payment could be disputed and money returned??

Bekki123 · 31/03/2016 02:22

Hi there - I am deeply disturbed by these comments as we signed my daughter up on Sunday to this agency - I am really worried now - and confused as they do post jobs up on their website - there's one at the moment for kinder surprise - is it that these jobs aren't real?
I have contacted trading standards as I'm worried it's all a scam - I did feel we were pressured into buying photographs on the day and it's all been quite vague since - has anyone else had any success in gaining their money back?
Thank you

wheeze65 · 31/03/2016 10:41

I did, see earlier in the thread for details. You have to request the money back from the photographer rather than M0del, but it was M0del who refunded me, which speaks volumes.

CliveHurst · 31/03/2016 14:02

Let me make it easy for everyone who has been scammed who are looking for help. Drop me an e-mail at [email protected] and I will put you in touch with those government departments etc, who are responsible for dealing with these scams. It is not rocket science! :)

Hi Clive, I've messaged you a couple of times now about speaking to a few of our parents on Parents of Child Models UK on Facebook. Out of 1.5k members there are ALOT that have been scammed.
Could you join the page maybe?
We already have a link to your page, and email but it would be good if you could make an appearance :)

Milkybuttons15 · 12/04/2016 08:10

For all that have been scammed by not only m0del but any others please use this link and complain.
www.aspokesmansaid.com/make-a-complaint

Action Fraud currently have a case open as well as Rip of Britain looking to cover the story.

* Children DO NOT need portfolios.*
As long as people remember this and spread the word then you will be able to spot a scam a mile off.

Bekki123 · 12/04/2016 15:25

Hi there! I have just added my complaint to aspokesmansaid.com - there are a lot of people with the same story as mine! If we all complain then they will be forced to pay attention to us hopefully :)

Zara374 · 16/04/2016 16:42

Two finance companies have now refused to offer any more credit facilities to NYC Studios. I wonder why??? :)

Milkybuttons15 · 16/04/2016 17:15

That's very interesting!! How do you know Zara?

Zara374 · 16/04/2016 17:46

Two mums who were being chased for payment. 😈

LJ85 · 20/04/2016 15:47
